ParticipantHi Tracy,
We are cleared to work again! 🙂 YEA! I’m trying to figure out where we are in the class since we are kind of jumping in. It feels a bit out of sorts for me as we find our footing again, but anyway about it – he’s having a great time 🙂 He’ll be 10 months on the 23rd of this month.
I captured several sessions from this past week and got them uploaded tonight for you so you can help us get back in synch with the class lessons! The first couple of videos are without toys as the “okay for tugging” came towards the end of the week.
Looking forward to your thoughts and getting back into the groove of things. I know I’ll learn a lot! Thanks!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Things are going pretty well and my fingers are crossed too. 🙂
One game that fits into his current rehab is the resilience walk. Short leash walks in quiet places is something we’re cleared to do so I incorporated that into one of his daily walks. I think he enjoys taking the lead.:)

ParticipantYep, I was totally helping as it felt like he needed it right now.
Thanks for the reward placement suggestion. That makes total sense! I didn’t think of that when I was setting this up.
Thanks for the reset cookie suggestion. It makes sense that it’s a different question with the movement. Thanks for pointing that out. Now to do it in the moment!
LOL… I must be in synch with Suzie without knowing it! Got the kids signed up to hopefully see you guys in person!
Thanks for the feedback and we will give things another go with the little guy!

ParticipantHe is a ton of fun! He’s such a sweet, loveable guy and thinks all of life is a giant playground. He’s excited about everyone and everything and his ears are a dead giveaway. 0 ears up and life is good, 1 ear up and life is great, 2 ears up and life is awesome!!!! Between that and his wiggling butt, he cracks me up.
Thanks, I was wondering about what to do as I noticed he went wide and then ended up hitting the wing. That makes sense to help him get that idea as he’s learning.

ParticipantThanks for letting me know he is ready to add some motion to the threadle cue. We will go ahead and take that next step. 🙂
Thanks especially for catching the verbals. I really appreciate your feedback on those so I can start to make the changes with him as we are both learning together. I’d like to get rid of my verbals all ending up “choppy and excited” when I get running versus when I’m “thinking” about them. So I appreciate you harping on me for those. 🙂

ParticipantI tried the switch exercise from the live class yesterday with just a wing. I already use the word “swing” which sounded close to “switch” so I thought I’d try using “flip”. Also if you’re heading our way this fall (Oct14ish) let me know if there is a place/person to signup. Love to see you in person again. 🙂
Thanks for taking the time to look at these. I’m hoping Túlka is back to her old self soon, but it will probably be a couple more weeks from what the vet says. Thanks again!

ParticipantAnd here is the little guy trying out the imaginary dogwalk with a wing.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Túlka is still recovering and has another laser session today. So Kótaulo is filling in with some exercises you suggested using wings. 🙂 Here’s where we are at with threadle vs regular wraps. It’s so hot these days that we started while the lights were on before sunrise. Crazy weather!
Sorelg
ParticipantHe’s just 6 months now. 🙂

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Túlka is off for a bit with a soft tissue injury in her wrist. We’ve started laser treatments, meds and am trying to convince her to “take it easy” so she can heal. We’re playing puzzle games and nosework to keep her entertained in the meantime. She competed in nosework as a pup so she enjoys playing a game she knows and I can keep it low key for her.
I was wondering if there is a way to maybe simplify something in lesson 5 to play with the pup? I wasn’t sure if that would really be possible since we are at the end of the course and he’s just getting started. If not, no worries. I’ll follow along to learn the concepts and work through the handling for the different exercises. 🙂 I learn a lot just by working through the thought process, reviewing everything, and also watching the live classes.
Thanks as always!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Well we took several days off and she seemed fine. However you’ll see in her two runs, that something is up. I didn’t catch the fall in the moment of the first run, but I saw her gait was off on the second. It was obvious as I stopped the run and in the videos. Poor girlfriend!!!!!!!!
So we have an appointment for next week to see what we can figure out.
Dang I was really excited about working rears with her and getting more of your feedback.
I did catch where I messed up my wrap verbal and also pulled slightly right before I started the rear which made the angle more like the old “L”. I was trying not to do that, but it was good to see even the 1 video. Man old habits die hard!

ParticipantWe only got to try the one pop-out yesterday as she pulled up lame after this first set. 🙁 She seems fine this morning, but I’m going to lay her off for a few days just to make sure. Looking forward to the live session tonight!
