ParticipantThese are probably the last videos I’ll upload as we have a trial this weekend. 馃檪 I’m looking forward to having a good time with him and keeping it fun. It’s a nice outside trial at a familiar location. He was running around the field and rolling in the grass doing a butt dance last night so it’s a happy place for him.
Thanks for a great summer camp and all of your help and feedback. I know I’m still messing up, but there were a lot of ahas’s as I try to figure out our teamwork. Your comments about the walkthroughs and realizing he will not be beside me so don’t walk it that way was just one of them. Thanks!!! 馃檪 I’ll keep an eye out for the next classes. I figure I’m on your email lists :).
Have a nice rest of your summer.

ParticipantHere is the second exercise of the live. One thing I noticed is my timing of the cues got late (not before when he entered the tunnel) when things get more complicated. I need to work on getting his name (soft turn) out when he is going into the tunnel. I think my mind starts putting too much together versus dealing with each piece as things get more complicated/longer.

ParticipantHere’s the first part of the live session. The wrap one was hard LOL. We started it and you’ll see how far we got. I really liked that he was getting the collection on the wrap portion, but then it was hard to get the rest so I just went with it.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
You’ll see this in the next video :), but I’m still confused about which verbals to use once I put all the wraps, backside, and threadles together.
I think what is confusing me is the wrap. I usually see it with the dog jumping from the inside of the jump and wrapping to you on the outside of the station. I want to confirm that it can also be if the dog jumps the outside of the station and comes back through the jump? I drew it up to see if what I/m thinking is correct. I initially used a backside cue whether it was a backside slice or a backside wrap. This may be wrong as K贸taulo told me he was confused :).
The threadle slice and wrap make sense to me as the non-obvious side of the obstacle and then either a slice or a wrap. So that would be Close or In In
Let me know what is consistent and I’ll try again to get them all straight. 馃檪

ParticipantDang I also forgot to pull off his collar again!!! I’m trying to install a new habit every time I take him to practice to pull it and leave it on my front seat. That way I get it off of him and back on for practices.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Here is the practice session from package 5 putting things together. I filmed a walkthrough and our first run during our first turn. This fascinated me about the walkthrough. You’ll see where I mess up the verbals during my walkthrough between “close” and “in”. I didn’t catch it during the walkthrough, but when I watched the video. It is really interesting how when I add motion (versus just walking) I tend to get the verbals right. I need to fix it while I’m walking (of course), but it’s really cool how my brain puts it together better when I add the motion. Fascinating! It doesn’t help that everyone I practice with has exactly the opposite verbals….
For our second turn, I focused on the verbal for the distance treadle. It is still a weak verbal for him and he struggled with it on the other package you gave us. So I broke that out.
The final run was our third turn. I tried to keep my intensity down and limit my motion so he could focus and I didn’t rush him. But then I got caught sleeping on the job after the distance threadle as you’ll see. LOL.
It helps him when I’m not as intense since he’s intense for both of us, but I still struggle with doing it.
I also had a question from last night’s live class. I’m not visualizing how you use a new “Switch” verbal cue with layering. I’m missing a piece in my mental picture or maybe getting confused with the turn-away switch folks use with a rear? On the live class exercise – where there is an extension go jump and you are layering from another jump. Is there a way you would use “switch” instead of just “go go jump”?
Thanks in advance as always for the great help!

ParticipantHi,
Yes this is something I’ve noticed as a training issue. For a while he was taking lots of jumps as backsides so I worked on balancing taking frontsides, but now he’s not as sure of the back sides. So it seems like there is still confusion there or at least a balance issue for him knowing what to do. I’ve seen some confusion in several different scenarios.

ParticipantHere is our first try of the package 5 exercises. Looking forward to your feedback and giving the last exercises on this layout a try.
I was also thinking if I have enough barn time on the last sequences I was going to try filming my walkthrough on that one like we did on the week 4 packages. The last exercises where it’s a bit longer. If that’s okay.

ParticipantYea!

ParticipantOne other question for you. 馃檪 Do you have any plans for additional young dog classes or webinars for the rest of the fall/winter? Just doing some budget planning. LOL
Sorelg
ParticipantAnd the last one. This is still the hardest one for us to get. 馃檪

ParticipantThird. This is the one I didn’t try last time.

ParticipantHi,
Thanks for the feedback on the exit line connection. I tried incorporating that into the walkthroughs today and looking back to where he would be. Interestingly, even the courses I walked through before, were still different just because the layout was slightly different. So I tried all four walkthroughs this morning.
I think they were a bit better, but I still need more practice to get things on the first try. I still messed up a right/left without realizing it. Looking forward to your feedback. 馃檪 I didn’t realize the timer ended the video when 5 minutes were up so it cuta off towards the end of the walk-through. It worked better when I had my watch and could turn on the video first and then set the timer once I was out there. LOL
Here’s the first course.

ParticipantWhoops sorry about that. It should be open now.
