Thanks Tracy for sharing the details so I can work that out between us. I think I’m rushing sometimes.

    Hi Tracy,

Yes they are trained as stops and the higher arousal is getting us. 🙂 I agree we need to drop standard runs until I can get them back with trial arousal. We did FEO for T2B/FAST, but as you say AKC only has the two classes and it was end of day. We worked the AFrame and did get two good ones for her ball, but it took a couple of tries first. Suzie’s Rocky Mountain Classic is 27-29 and I’m signed up for normal classes and Masters/Biathalon/Pentathlon to work NFC. It looked like I can still run NFC even though it’s a classic?

Thanks for your comments regarding the handling issues. I’ve been thinking about them a lot. :). “motion and connection were the 2 biggest trouble spots, you were stopping a lot and looking forward”. ‘You don’t need to manage the lines, you just need to connect more so she knows where the lines are”. It helps to know where to focus first. Video my walkthroughs and comparing it to my first run is really helpful so I can start to see the big connection points the first time and then adding walkthrough speed to be able to execute them.

I appreciate your help and suggestions with how to transition what I’m learning into trials. Running Túlka has been really different than running my Tervs and agility has changing a lot since then. Thanks for taking the time to review our runs and guidance on where to start. It helps a lot not to feel as overwhelmed. 🙂

Thanks Tracy for pointing out that I looked forward between 5-6 during the walkthrough. I’m doing that at trial walkthroughs to. Missing where I need a BIG connection with her. I think sometimes I get a glimpse of her and “think” I have her, but then get caught up in where I’m trying to get to next. So really helpful to see the connection between this and at trials. Thanks!

Yes, the extra rehearsals of going fast here did help. This course made sense to me quicker so I could get it into my head sooner and leave more time for the faster rehearsals. I knew before I ran it that I “got” this one where I didn’t the first one. So I need to get more courses feeling like this one did. :). Thanks!

    Hi Tracy,

Thanks for your feedback on my walkthrough. What you said makes sense. I have one question concerning the blind cross 4-5 when I’m too far across the line. I think I’m compensating for another handling issue. I’m far across the line and hanging back to connect with her as she comes out of the tunnel across the jump 5 bar. Otherwise she tends to miss jump 5 and comes right to my BC side. What do I need to do to change my handling so she won’t run past the jump and come directly to me? I’ve caught myself doing that so I feel like I’m compensating for something else??? Thanks!

    Hi Tracy,
Per our chat, I uploaded what I had for the last two days. Watching the video my handling mistakes are really obvious :). Stopped contacts, weave poles, tables, some start lines were gone by day 2 so that tripped up parts. When we’re running, it feels like sometimes we have distance but then we don’t. My other gut sense is I have to manage each jump more but then I’m late for the next section. I see where she takes lines I’m setting but I didn’t get to where I needed to be. I can generate a pretty long list of issues during a trial (my handling, weak verbals, contacts, weave poles, commitment to jumps, running round jumps, rear timing, arousal.. etc.) But…do I rework each issue piece by piece or are there more fundamental, underlying aspects? Through trialing this summer it’s felt a bit like “wack a mole” as issues arise/fix and that I need to be a lot more “perfect”. Lots of ideas have been shared to try and help ;), but I’m not sure how best to move forward. Thanks for any thoughts you have.

Yep, last one 🙂 The runs were over the last week and a half during rental times, but my day job got in the way of processing videos until this weekend.

Your comments all make sense to me. Trusting her threadle more so I move out. I can also see where she is head checking to me for direction when I’m late providing it and I was down at 8 with time to get in the BC.

I’m hoping to trial this coming weekend (Covid depending). I am thinking of running her as FOE to see how we do. Basically take her toy in, run the course as normal but with the option to reward. Thoughts?

Ahh so much good stuff you are giving me in these! I know more practice to be able to actually pull it off in context, but an “ah ha” moment for me with serps/collection. Not sure why the countermotion hasn’t sunk in before because I know you’ve talked about it but…

“Ideally you will be on the takeoff side when she is also on takeoff, so she sees the collected exit before she has to take off.” That phrase really hit me this time. There’s now a new mental image in my head and I can see the impact it has on her turns. Makes me excited! 🙂 Yea!

I agree she was not a little shit. LOL! Julie’s opinion was pretty obvious there haha, but Túlka’s usually totally honest in her responses. I trust what she’s telling me.

Hahaha I’m laughing. I’m just going to blame Julie as I think she numbered this one, LOL and yes it was wrong in two place. We just thought you were making it really tough. 🙂

But…. thank you for all of your insights into the threadle issue it pointed out! It pointed out to me that I’m thinking reactionary on the threadle rather than proactively when you mention setting up the turn before the threadle to indicate the better line. And for the reminder to balancing cues when I break out pieces to practice.

It’s interesting adding verbals because what comes out when I run isn’t always what I plan during the lower arousal, training situation. I’ve been wondering about the long come because of my lack of consistency.

I see at 52 where she’s already got her head turned to her right and I’ve not crossed her line yet. 🙂 So more work on both independent directionals and my RC handling.
    Thanks!

Cool, sounds like package 4 is great timing for me :).

That makes sense keeping the BC closer to 6 and show more forward motion towards the weaves.

Yes the last time for 11 was our best after practicing a few times.

The backside push felt a lot better and something we are more comfortable with right now.
    Thanks!
