Participant7-8-9-10 Yes!, I got stuck there not seeing what to try. It took taking a break to see the alternate handling that worked better (until I didn’t stay in motion LOL ). “Come” is her threadle / slice which was totally wrong to use there. I realized that watching others try it. I’m not sure why I didn’t see like the double blind there as I knew it felt wrong. Maybe more caffeine needed?
Looking at the course on paper I thought BC to the tunnel, but when I walked it I talked myself into the FC. I remember thinking the BC would point my feet toward the wrong end end of the tunnel longer. I confused myself. The BC makes sense and the video shows the extra footwork.
Thanks for contrasting the the BC transition that worked vs when I pushed her line causing the back jump. And thank you for pointing out facing forward on the serp. I think that might contribute to other serp struggles. She is very honest.

ParticipantThanks so much Tracy for the detailed comments. They are really helpful and match what it felt like to me running it and make sense. It helps a ton as I try to take what were learning in the smaller sequences into a course, see it in context and then bring it all together while running. LOL.
I didn’t catch the wide turn at 6 after the BC until I saw it on the video :), so the decel and left brake hand make total sense to try there.
It is the angles/speed that is catching us on weave poles. She was trained originally with 2x2s and then channels. Unfortunately she broke a toe on the weave pole base when they were just about 1/4″ apart so it took a really long time to work her back through weaves. The retrain was primarily channels, but she is use to either. I am thinking I should add them right into the course when possible so we can practice the angles/speed that she is struggling with on courses?

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Well you get two cameras on this one. L:) It was so hot this morning that my iphone shut off so we moved it into the shade, but then it was too close. So this one is part human, part tripod.Let me know what you think happened at the dog walk. Thanks and I hope your weekend went really well!!!

ParticipantWe struggled with threadles on this one as well, so I included what I did to try to work them back into the course. Here original threadle verbal is the long come, but I see where I switch to the repetitive “panic” version when I can tell I don’t have her during a run.:) Not sure which verbal is better????
She’s also been having a hard time with her rights and lefts (like off the dog walk with me behind) or rear cross at :52. She is fine on 180’s where she can see me moving laterally. I was thinking to go back to the exercise where you had us send to the wing then up the line to a straight jump and then either a left or right rear cross to the reward. Is that a good exercise to help clarify things for us? Also wondering if my timing could be better for her on the rears?
Thanks as always for your thoughts and help!

ParticipantI’m realizing as we struggle with some of the bigger issues on the course (like weaves and threadles), that I’m not getting in some of the other verbals :). Still trying to figure out how to keep more in my head LOL.

ParticipantSame idea here. I tried doing sections of the course and see if I could make improvements along the way.

ParticipantHi Tracy 🙂
In looking at the courses, I figured to have the most success and build our confidence one approach was to break them apart, work pieces and see how much we could then chain together. So I gave that a try on package 3 course. Let me know if there is another good way. 🙂
Concerning Weaves: On this first course I tried back chaining to help her have success with the angle and gradually adding more distance/speed. We did a different section in between so it was just drilling them. She still struggled when I put them back into the course, so let me know if there is something else I should be trying. It’s getting collection for getting into that second pole.
Thanks!
