ParticipantHiTracy,
Here are our runs from the online class exercises. I’m looking forward to your feedback.
One question, in particular, I had after watching the video and trying to make adjustments during the session. How do I eliminate the wide turn going into the circle wrap? I tried running a straighter line, more shoulder and also added hi name. It didn’t work and I ended up confusing him 馃槈 Looking forward to your help.
Your comments about the walkthroughs made a lot of sense. I wanted to give these exit connections a go before I try walking the course again. 馃檪 I have another session set up for course walking :).

ParticipantThanks for the feedback Tracy, very helpful!
Here are the comparisons of our walk-through to runs. It’s a lot tougher with him still versus T煤lka. I don’t know where he will be yet so it’s tough to imagine his position. I don’t see him yet in my head when I do the dog cues. Sorry the sound was off, there is a ton of construction there. I included the full walkthrough and then ran each one twice. So the videos are long, so skip to where it makes sense.
For the first course between the first and second attempts, I tried to say my verbals earlier. I felt they were late and contributed to the dropped bars.
For the second course between the first and second attempt, the main change I made was to try to smooth it out. He wasn’t a help during the walkthrough so I tied him up for the third one. I lost the toy without realizing it on the first run so that also wasn’t a help.
For the third run I knew during the walkthrough the difference between the threadle and backside didn’t feel right and I felt like I wasn’t helping him. I wasn’t sure how to fix it during the walkthrough. I stuck to the 5-minute walkthrough as I’ve felt this way in a trial and get that “oh crap” feeling. It didn’t feel right. The second run didn’t help as the next person showed up. So I want to try this one again after I get your feedback and go for the 4th course.
I’m still not getting things on the first run so we need more work here.Just setting the 5-minute timer for a walkthrough still adds pressure and throws me off. 馃檪
Thanks in advance!

ParticipantAnd here are the combos I did yesterday.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
The last week or so was crazy trying to get my truck fixed. Half the time my tripod was in the wrong vehicle and the other half I was catching rides. So I only got two of the sessions filmed. But I got one with the pieces and one where we tried putting things together. These were the ending sessions so far on these skills.
The truck is back so I think things are back to normal this week. Looking forward to your feedback
Here are the pieces:

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Here’s from our practice this morning with the Circle wraps and BC-Threadle-Wrap.
You can see us both trying to figure out the BC-Threadle-wrap 馃檪
Sorelg
ParticipantThanks, Tracy,
Your comments make total sense and I can see in the videos what you mean about being early on the BC’s. Thanks, I wasn’t sure what I was doing to cause that jump to keep coming down. It makes sense now.
It also makes sense that I wasn’t tucking in enough behind the wing for him to see it for the circle wraps. I’ll give those another go when I setup the BC-treadle-wrap.
I keep reminding myself to get more dynamic range for my verbals and then we start running and I feel his intensity/power and I ramp away. LOL :). I keep telling myself to start with at least a pianissimo and fortissimo between collection and a go-go-go. 馃檪
For the left turn break arm, I added it because he was zig-zagging a line between the tunnel – 3 – 4 when we warmed up on the circle jumps. Maybe just let him figure out that line more?
Thanks again, and I’ll go check out lesson 3 馃檪

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Here’s our session from the field trying to put it together. Still pretty rough complete with bloopers as we try putting the moves into motion.
I’ll start with the BC/threadle wraps next time since we didn’t get to those. Also is there something I’m doing that causes that far most bar to come down in the jump circle? Pulling off too abruptly?
Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks!

ParticipantThanks Tracy for the feedback. We’ve moved onto the sequence and I was going to film it for you today to get feedback. 馃檪 But…. this one is better then K贸taulo ate my homework. My truck died on the freeway. Luckily we all ended up safe and the truck repair isn’t too bad, but hence no filming. Hopefully an update later this week when I have the field again :).

ParticipantHere’s our blind thread wrap as well. This was the harder one for us. I did have a question on what verbals you use on this move and when. I was using his turn-away cue, but then I didn’t know if that was what I really should use. Our normal threadle slice cue is “close” and then “in” is for normal threadle wrap. I was thinking maybe the verbal should just be the normal “in”? Let me know and also if you think we’re ready to move onto the sequence. His layering skill is usually good, so I think that part won’t be an issue for us.
It took us a bit to get this far versus getting a threadle slice. LOL 馃檪
Thanks again for the special guest visitor. That was helpful and I found her descriptions of what she is looking for during each routine very clear. I’m excited to see how much they help as we include them in his fitness routine. Thanks!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
We spent this first part of this week putting these skills together. Here’s where we are at on the blind to a threadle slice. Let me know if you think we’re ready to try the sequence. The other side is at about the same point.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
We tried another sequence session.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
>>I am working on a surprise for everyone too! >>
I saw your email!!! That is awesome. I’m thrilled as we have been struggling in that area!!!! I’m super excited!!!!
>>She鈥檚 great! Is it a conditioning exercises, or a jumping exercise? There is an entire library of things we can do to help the dog 馃檪 >>
It’s been some of both – mostly conditioning, but some jump grids also.
>>Are you doing that on a circle wrap? I now use a Cato board to get the sit where I want it, and I also use it for slice jumping.>>
I’ve been doing it on a circle wrap. So sending him around the backside, having him sit and then have him push off with the rear for the actual jump. I ordered a Cato board as I am having the problem where he ends up sitting too close to the bar. Am I correct to assume that you just put the Cato board back a bit from the jump so he has more room to take the actual jump after siting?
How do you use it for slice jumping. Do you put the Cato board at the slice point, have them sit and ask for the slice jump from a static sit position?
>>But first: what does his tight sit on a small-ish platform look like? That is the first step.>>
I attached a video of what we have for the tight sit on a small platform and also what she had us doing for an sit/kickband stand and rock back sit on a raised platform. Let me know what you see.
>>Awesome! I love the zig zag grid! That helps slice jumping a whole lot too because it helps condition the dogs AND it helps with the quickness of mechanics.>>
I also included a zig zag grid session for your thoughts. I’m still getting ticks when the speed increases slightly. Should I lower the bars more? other changes?
>>Ae you doing any grids, once a week or every couple of weeks?>> Usually once a week for a session.
>> watch how he is lifting his hind end, tucking it up under himself, rather than using it to push off and follow through. >>
Yes, I’ve noticed he started doing that. I’ve seen it before with the Tervs. What can I do to help him with the follow-through form?
>>You can also use a toy that rolls more like a hollee roller so he is continuing to look forward as it lands.>>
Switched the toy out so that is what is on the zig-zag grid I uploaded 馃檪
Thanks for your feedback. I wanted your thoughts on this before I tried him again on any of the sequences. Appreciate your thoughts!

ParticipantHere is our first session on this week’s hot topics. The jumps are at 20″.
One thing we’ve been struggling with in general is slice jumping. You’ll hear/see where he hits stantions sometimes. I’ve been working on rear-end strengthening with Eidle’s exercise from her jumping class. I’ve also been working on the backside exercise you shared where you send him to the backside, have him sit to square up, and then push off from the rear. He didn’t know what to do with all that body when we started at 16″ and he’s now better at 20″. I’ve also pulled out the zig-zag jump picture. Any ideas you have in this area, handling or helping him, are appreciated. 馃檪
On to the hot topics. 馃檪 We tried several sequences to get feedback to rework them. Overall, he read a backside at 3. You’ll see where I added a name call, played with the jump positions and angles to make it easier, but we still struggled. You’ll hear me say we need help with it LOL. I’m thinking maybe I’m not setting the right line or am pushing him out? Let me know what I’m doing :).
Thanks in advance for your help and I’m excited to improve on what we have this summer.

ParticipantThanks Tracy for another great course! Happy Holidays and all the best for the coming year!
Sorelg
ParticipantThen we tried some arousal proofing on the end of his teeter. I tried general tugging arousal a couple of times and then a time where I whispered to him (which usually gets him excited) and then having the toy out front.
Let me know what you think. Thanks as always for your comments.
