ParticipantGood afternoon
Added a third jump and flattened the angle a bit more – sort of running out of room for a moving target with the 3 jumps. He did well, though the off side he still doesn’t get – a project on it’s own I guess.
Seminar was a lot of fun, Coal did great with his work on discriminations. Jump tunnel discriminations he nailed. Jump contact discriminations an error on rep 1 consistently going to the contact – he knows what pays.
Got his introduction to 12 weaves and figured it out. It was a bit of a tough love approach, Lee’s take was if you can do 6 poles, you can do 12 poles and we gave Coal the opportunity to figure that out for himself. The method worked for a dog like Coal, because he has tons of confidence and resilience and kept coming back and trying again. Cody would have melted if I ever tried that with him – 3 errors with no cookie, he would have been out of there. Now that I know he can do 12, I’ll figure out how to make sessions somewhat errorless to help with speed and confidence.

ParticipantGood afternoon -70 degrees in November, what could be better!
Here’s some more progression with zig zags, flattened the bar a bit and lined him up parallel to the far wing. One oops in there.
Tomorrow we will be at a Lee Gibson seminar – discrimination in the AM and weaves in the PM Should be fun

ParticipantHey there
Here’s where we are at with the zig zag’s 5′ bars set at 10″So start flattening the angle while keeping the bars at 10″?
Tom Toomla
ParticipantGood morning
here we are getting organized with his organization skills. Fast sits are not his thing yet, he’d rather keep moving – so more reward to make it worth his while.
Tom Toomla
ParticipantHey there
Here’s our start at the zig zags. first 4 reps were with no bar, wings spaced about 6′. Next 4 were with a 5′ bar set at 12″
looks like we are good to move to 2 jumps – yes?
Tom Toomla
ParticipantHey there
here’s where we are at with the moving reward – lotus ball on a leash.
Consistent desire for toy play is something I definitely need to build with this boy. Some days he’s a tugging fool and then the next day it’s hell no. I don’t want to do that – something I need to figure out

ParticipantHey there, we are working at it, but life has just gotten in the way lately. Did get some stuff on video today.
This is where he is at with leading with his head – something he does naturally I think?

ParticipantHey there, one last post.
Here’s where we are at with his weave training, working on showing him different entries and some motion. This video is from about 2 weeks ago, I’ve added entries out of a tunnel since. Also probably time to add some more poles – maybe?
Enjoyed the class, got a lot of stuff we can go back to work on as he gets his act together. My concentration has been on teaching him skills and now I’m going to have to work on getting his distraction control under control before I did too deep a hole – hey, he’s only been with me for 8 months. I can teach skills and sequencing on mornings after I’ve build the course when it’s quiet in the barn, going to use the actual class for working patterns and simple stuff under distraction
Got him into a seminar in early November with a Lee Gibson at the green turf facility, don’t know who he is, but I always learn something
Looking forward to what you come up with next -my favorite “virtual” instructor

ParticipantHey there Tracy
Set up the package 4 jumpers course #2 yesterday and worked with the boy on 1 – 10
Ran him in the AM with no dogs in the other ring, no problem. Backside threadle is coming along, but still not ready to be reliable in a sequenceVideo is from our evening session. He was out on the floor twice, this is his 2nd time. 1st time no dogs in the other ring, just the class walking the course

ParticipantGood morning
Yes, thankfully August is gone, hot, humid and none of our training spots have any type of AC
Pattern games – yes, we are working on building value for a couple of the CU games, getting them super strong at home before I take them on the road
mat / place
up and down
look at that
whip turnsHere’s some backside to backside work with some tunnel discrimination thrown in. I probably made this a bit hard as a teaching moment, but he persevered

ParticipantHey there, had to go to page 2 to find myself, it’s been a while, but I plan on finishing strong.
Been spending time working on his focus and reactivity. The boy want to meet every other dog in the world. No aggression at all, lots of tail wagging and play bowing, but he does loose the ability to think Working around other dogs at whatever distance he can handle and working on increasing duration and shortening distance – it’s a process. Stopped going to the in person obedience class we were in, working with 3 or 4 other dogs on the floor would eventually make his brain explode and he’d go visit, it was just a question as to how long he could hold himself together. If I do decide to go back to class, I’m going to start at short time durations and build, 10 minutes and go home slowly building to the full hour
Here’s some more work we did on the backside threadle wraps, yes, it looks like he’s better to the left than to the right.
Tom Toomla
ParticipantHey there
Some short sequencing we did on Tuesday.
What I’m seeing with Coal is that speed comes with understanding, the better he understands, the faster he gets.
Cody was the opposite, full speed ahead was always there, which made getting him to understand that much harder
Tom Toomla
ParticipantHey there, we are back. He’s all recovered from his procedure and it’s not a 100 degrees out right now.
This is our first session at teaching the threadle wrap. Yea, I see that the slightest step towards the wing will send him to the front side. Have not added a verbal to this yet, thinking that it’s going to be tight – tight

ParticipantGood Morning
Here’s some Cody action from Monday night. It looks like my WOO was not as early as I thought it was on the back tunnel and weave entry, pulled him off of bothCoal should back in action by Monday so I’ll get back to work with him then. Have been working on teaching him shaping during his recovery
Tom Toomla
ParticipantHey there
Unfortunately, this weekends seminar was canceled, the presenter tested positive, lot of that going on lately. This video is some work we did Tuesday on teaching him his words for the tunnel. We then followed up with some tunnel / A frame discrimination, I’ll submit that next.
