Thank you! I was really pleased with how well she did.

Tried Goat Tricks 1 and 2 (shaping movement and noise). She was very happy to offer the behavior between tugging sessions, although she wasn’t quite as keen with the wobble board on top of the wooden board. We wanted to put the board under it to make a definite noise but I think it caused the wobble board to slide a bit.

We played with the shaping the wing wrap today. Full disclosure – I did something similar to this when she was younger but haven’t done it for a long time.

I did the driving ahead with Brad holding her. I think it went well.

I am not sure how I keep uploading duplicate videos. Here was our blind crosses with Brad holding. I think it went better this time.

Houston, we have a problem. I decided to try engaging with food for the ready dance and although we had a couple of nice hits she decided the prop was a toy. I was thinking I could use a small board with rough finish, but that might be too much like what I would use for training running contacts (not sure I am doing that but you never know). Any advise going forward is appreciated of course. She is a fun girl.

Here is our first try at the blind cross. I struggled with figuring out what to do with my arms when I have the toy in one hand. She was great but I am not sure I ever had my new arm back in the same way I would on course. I think all but one rep are with her coming to my left side. I just couldn’t keep track of which hand to have the toy in to start – sooo confused. LOL I think I should work on this without a dog for a while. Ha!

I decided to include a short clip of Caper and I with her driving forward to a toy. I am not sure there is anyway that I will ever beat her to it but she loves the game.

Thank you. I am going to try your suggestions for the ready dance. I think she doesn’t find it engaging enough, but I think I can change that.

Thanks, Tracy – I did not notice that I started the pivot with no decel even after watching the video. Also, I need to remind my self to just go slower. This is great info.

Here is our attempt at Prop Game 1 for sends and commitment. I tried to engage in play with her before I did the send position but she was offering to target the hat before I cued it. I just don’t think she understood and I was missing something in keeping her engaged. Should I play with her with a toy and then send her. I am a little stumped on how to help her understand and in watching my video I didn’t feel like my handling was really clear. She seemed a little distracted and I gave her a potty break but that wasn’t the issue. Any help will be very appreciated by both of us.

I tried some more of the decel to turns. I thought this started out well but early on she once came between my legs instead of to my hand and side. I just gave her a cookie and started again. Is that the right thing to do and was my position the reason that happened? I did a couple of simple turns with food in my hand and she seemed good with that and then I did a couple of front crosses and I think that was okay. Then, I tried to do it with no food in my hand and a toy reward at the end. The first time it worked and the next time I had food in my hand which I gave her but I think I should have gone ahead and played with her with the toy. Then I think I tried to turn too much before giving her the toy. The last two times I didn’t try to rotate all the way before I played with her and felt like that was more successful. I feel like my reinforcement timing or placement is just off a little and not sure exactly what I am doing – hahaha Am I trying to go to quickly with adding more difficult things or is it something else. She was a very good girl and really tried but I felt like she had moments where she wasn’t quite sure what I wanted. I might have been talking too much again and not being quiet. Ugh.

Wow, that was the fastest response from an online response I have ever had! LOL. Just to make sure I understand on the foot target video. I should be quiet until I have ended the targeting or should I be quiet only when I am asking for the behavior and then speak or play with her when I throw the treat? Yes, in this type of situation – Caper seems always happy to play with the toy before or after and then take food too.
