Thanks for the feedback and also for the very fun live class. I think Caper is doing better, but I am not sure she is 100% back to her more confident self.

Will you be posting the recordings from the last live session into the forum?

We tried lap turns today and struggled a bit. She definitely finds it easier to turn to the left on these.

Thank you! I haven’t been back in the forum for a few days. I will try this again when it is a little cooler.

We have been taking things really slowly and not training much. Caper is struggling with something. She is worried and anxious. At times she won’t take treats for even simple things like eye contact or nose touches. Lots of other behaviors that are subtle but definitely a deviation from normal. I took her to the vet last week because I was worried (still am). He could find nothing but since this has been going on since her heat he did an ultra-sound of her uterus. Everything looks okay but he suspects she could be having a false pregnancy (a littermate had one and exhibited the same plus additional symptoms that lasted for a month). In the videos, she looks pretty normal but that is partly due to the time of day and the short sessions that had some running.

Tunnel exits the first time we tried them last week.

The next day we tried tunnel exits from the other side. Not sure what I am doing that is confusing her with the rear crosses, but she is confused.

This morning we did lead outs and she seemed pretty happy to do them. This was two sessions separated by about 20 minutes or so.

Thank you. I totally see what you mean about the shoulders, but not sure in the moment I did much better on this morning’s session. She did great as we added a little in a little sequence. I feel like her only mistakes were when I forgot to look at the ground landing or forgot my words. I need to go out without the dog and practice my throwing a toy- HA! I handed it off to Brad which helped.

Thank you, thank you! It has been really fun, but I have been doing things in such short chunks that I still haven’t gotten back to doing more of these. I want to revisit these and also do the more advanced ones.

I did go out very briefly today to start on the Concept transfer for Serpentines. I haven’t worked on these for quite a while and was really pleased that she had no questions. I am not sure if my position is quite right.

    Thanks again.

I did two short sessions yesterday to work on the wingin’ it exercises. It’s hot so we didn’t do much and struggled with some things. I know sometimes I was late and I think I was pointing the wrong direction on some, but we still had fun.

Thank you, for the feedback. It is so nice to have a dog that drives past even when I am so close and converging. It will take some getting used to.

Thank you so much for that feedback. I do feel like things are coming together more for us. There is so much to keep track of, but if I am careful about thinking it through in advance and not trying to do too much at a time things go better.

I wanted to try some of the exercises we hadn’t done previously and especially interested in ones that involve the rear cross. This it the bonus rear cross from a couple of weeks ago. I only did two reps each direction but was so happy that she turned the correct way. Her turns/wraps at the rear cross were pretty wide, but I am not too worried – was it my timing that caused that? I also felt like my feet were getting all tangled up and not sure what I was doing there either — ha! Thanks, in advance.

I tried the Wingin’ It exercise this afternoon. I still have a couple of the exercises to do but I wanted to keep it short. Even planning on what verbals to use I had a couple of fails. I am not sure what caused some of the choices she made at the beginning but she was happy.

    Hi Tracy!
That would be totally fine to use a clip from that. It was a really good learning moment for me and hopefully it can be for others. I would love the ticket to the seminar (I have been meaning to sign up – but this is great).

See you in the forum soon.

Thank you once again. This means a lot especially when I know that we are struggling. It is really hard at times. I am so excited about all the things she is learning. Today in the live class, I was so happy that the pattern game helped her reset. She is a wonderful little dog.

THANK You! Your comments really helped me feel better about where we are on all of this. I will keep working on it. I am really hoping that tomorrow’s live class goes well. The fireworks the last couple of nights have had her very worried. She has had a couple of times in the agility field where she heard either fire crackers or something that made her think about them and she just wanted to go back inside. Fingers crossed. Tonight is supposed to be the last night until the end of the month.

Thanks for the feedback. That’s a great idea to toss a cookie back to start the exercise. I had thought about having her wrap something but figured she would come forward to hot and fast. I will try this. I suspect I will have to be slow and steady with increasing speed.

Today I tried the Straight line 4 ways. We really struggled with the rear crosses. I don’t think I am getting the line right and she is just so fast that she is past me before I can react. I am a bit discouraged about that since rear crosses were a problem for me and Jackson too. I also think since this is one of those rears that you don’t actually cross behind them that it was harder for me to get the timing and the line correct. I did go more than two errors since I didn’t think she thought they were errors, but maybe that was a mistake. I am looking forward to your suggestions to improve this.

We tried the Motion Override today. I didn’t move very quickly, but I thought she did well. She is in her second heat cycle and I can tell that it makes some things sort of tough for her, so we are just taking things slowly

Thank you for the feedback and the ideas on how I can run more instead of standing around. I am going to try this again. I think that Caper responding the way she does to my handling even if the handling is a bit off will make me a better trainer and handler.

A quick question regarding this week’s exercise – straight lines 4 ways. On the backside verbal is that the back side slice or wrap verbal? This will be such a good exercise for me to try and I predict Caper will LOVE it!

Thank you for the feedback. I feel encouraged. We were gone for a few days so just getting back to everything. She is very forgiving of my questionable handling LOL. I am going to try to sort out the timing on this in the next few days. But this morning I was interested in trying the send and go and blind cross exercise. I feel like I should be moving more since one of my issues on courses is my struggle to not get stuck and just stand around. Maybe that will come as we add more obstacles – I would be interested on your thoughts on that in addition to the execution on this. Thanks!
