Hello! Not terribly happy with either of these, but we worked on Mission Transition and the Zig Zag exercise yesterday. I am struggling getting those verbals out!

Hi Tracy! Is there a link to the recording for the last live class? I can’t seem to find it. Thanks!

Trying to incorporate your feedback into a walking session of rear crosses. He did great when he didn’t realize the toy was pre-placed, but we failed twice after that so I had Carole stand out there with it. Failed again, but I think we got it after 2 failures. I was attempting to mitigate the head turns that were happening when I was throwing the toy myself. Went back to throwing on the left turns. I think he did a little bit better than last time.

Then we did a little more with the proofing. I honestly thought I was standing in “threadle position” for those, but it looks like I really wasn’t. Better luck with the pre-placed toy here. The stays are still a work in progress. I am trying really hard to stay connected, but not sure I did that great of a job.

We worked on the rear cross concept transfer today. A few times he went wide of the jump, and I am wondering if it’s the pressure of me being too close or something else. Casey pointed out in our last class that she thinks he really likes me to keep my distance, lol, and it seems that may be the case. After the first time he pulled off, I tried to stay more lateral on the rear cross to the right, and he got it. In one particular case on Sunday we were doing a tunnel to a big, slightly arcing sweep of jumps to another tunnel and jump (basically a speed circle.) On the first attempt he went way wide of the obstacles. Casey had me pull way back from his line and he nailed it. I was REALLY far away (well, more so than I am used to being!) I’m interested in what you think.

Great feedback, as always! Wondering if you saw the video I posted the day before on the advanced diamond exercise. Also, here is a little layering we did with Casey today!

    And some rear cross practice.

We worked on the layering exercise today. This was fun! When he goes around the jump, is it right for me to call him back and get him to take it? I don’t think I did it in a demotivating way, but you will tell me, lol! Also, when he goes around it, to me it seems like he is focusing on the toy toss and not just looking at me.

We did some of the advanced diamond exercises after first just trying to wrap my head around doing figure 8 blind crosses. No idea why this one particular thing is so difficult for me. Always late! I will keep working on it. I noted myself looking forward again when Yuzu did not wrap the wing on the advanced exercise. And I am not sure why he decided to go SO far out on the race track. He may have been locked onto the tripod instead of the wing? But it was probably my handling, lol!

I did MaxPup with my 4yo BC as well. Best training ever! It was fun watching you and Kaladin!

I have been doing blind crosses for F-ing YEARS, but had to bring Gunnar out to get my mechanics on the Diamond exercise down before I brought Yuzu out, lol! Thank you GPup. I also have always had a problem starting an exercise with no momentum, so I added the tunnel right away. Do we have some catchup time coming up, or are we going straight through?

Worked on the ladder grid today, but I was trying mostly to focus on the stay mechanics. I hope I did a better job, lol!

People have asked me why I am not an instructor in dog agility, and I only need to point to how many times you keep giving me the same advice, over and over (lol) to explain why! That would drive me bonkers, but thankfully you cover your eye rolls well! Anyway, it is over 80 degrees here today, and I am NOT ready for these temps so I decided to work on the proofing game again since I didn’t have to move much! I did 2 separate sessions, one with serp and tunnel and one with threadle and tunnel. I will put them all together next.

We worked on the rear crosses and backsides (a little) today. I wasn’t happy with my mechanics on the backsides, so I am looking forward to your feedback before I try those again. I think I was over-helping. We have done very little with rear crosses, so I was overall pretty pleased with how he did, especially to the left. Once again calling into question my early belief that we was a right turner!

Tonight we tried our hands and paws at the proofing #3 exercises. Our stays are still a work in progress. When he was struggling with the jump, should I have made the angle of the jump easier for him? I am thinking so.
