ParticipantWe worked on switching back and forth tugging with two toys today. I figured I would try it first in the building before we moved outside. I think he did pretty well! I was thinking I’d try again and possibly add the cone for playing the wrap game?

ParticipantSounds good. We will try to incorporate more toys in all these games and I’ll
Make the adjustments with the feet position and movement, if my brain and feet cooperate. Lol. Thank you for all the detailed feedback, it’s really awesome!Marie Lister
ParticipantI think anything he thinks he can interact with for a chance for treats, he’s pretty eager to try. Whether it’s propped against a wall or laying on the floor. Lol
Wrap game. We tried the pile of cones again and then swapped them out for a jumó upright. He really likes this game!
Blind cross foundation game. I definitely have one direction that is easier for me than the other as you’ll probably see. I used treats, would you rather we try a toy next time? Would you recommend doing this game outside where we would have more space?
Prop game. I notice a couple things. When I do the ready dance too many times, he is like…..umm can you just get on with it? Or maybe he’s just embarrassed by my dancing. The other thing I noticed was that I moved the dustpan out further at one point and I think it increased the distance more than I ideally should have.
One more question about drive ahead and focus forward game. Do you want me to play it with food and my motion while we still work on building value for dead toy separately, or just focus on the toy skill for now? Thanks so much for all your help!

ParticipantOk we went out and tried mixing the toy in for the goat tricks real quick. Here is what we got. I’m pretty happy with it! https://youtu.be/q8d_8mJpPJA

ParticipantHere are three of the games we tried today.
Drive ahead and focus forward with the flirt pole. He really likes chasing the toy on the flirt pole, but he doesn’t tug it much. Anyway, I’m not sure if this is what you had in mind for use to try for using a toy? We didn’t do any with food today for this game.
Decel and turn game. We tried the first two reps with a stay, but I didn’t want to push it and did the rest with a cookie toss. I saw when I watched the video that I was dropping my hand down again early, instead of waiting till he was up to me. I will work on that for next time.
Goat tricks. Dice tends to just jump in and on things like you’ll see. I tried three different things to see if he would react differently with any of them but he didn’t really slow down much on any. I didn’t feel like I was really doing any shaping, but I figured I’d better show you what we have so you can tell me where to go with this.

ParticipantThank you for the feedback, it makes a lot of sense.
“Dice is so cool! Is he a color-headed white? (I am describing the color correctly?)”
Yes, you are correct, he’s a color headed white. 🙂Quick question about the Goat game….Do you want us to use an object that they can stand all four feet on, or just front feet?
Thanks again, we had a great time in class last night, I’m thrilled I got over my nerves and went for the working spot! I think it’s going to help me a lot to have another set of eyes, since I normally train alone. I’m sure Dice is thanking you already. Lol

ParticipantWe played with the pregames tonight, here is our video. I put the two games clips on one video to upload. I hope that’s ok. We are looking forward to the live class tomorrow!
