ParticipantLily HT5 Sequence 1&2
Started this session with Rosie out loose for some extra distraction. I got to be too much, so I tethered her to the deck.
I couldn’t get the tunnel by layering the jump, so I went between the jump and tunnel. The first time I forgot to take the jump after the tunnel Opps.
Rosie HT5 Sequence 1&2
Since I had Rosie out, I thought I would throw her into the mix. She often does this spin at the beginning of a send, but then goes ahead and does the send.
Lily HT5 Sequence 3&4
First run she had to pee (I cut that out).
I moved the jump a little closer so she could be more successful.
Rosie HT5 Sequence 3&4
Second try, another spin.
If she had a better send, I could get the layering in better.
Lily HT5 Sequence 5&6
She seemed to do better on the sends here.
Rosie HT5 Sequence 5&6
These sends to the tunnel seemed to be easier for Rosie too.
After the last run Rosie had had enough and went to the garden with Kim.
Lily HT5 Sequence 7&8
After watching my videos, I realized I was doing this wrong and not putting in the blind before the threadle wrap. This might be why I was having so much trouble with this sequence. I will have to practice this later.

I’m a little behind here. You’re going to think I’m a hypochondriac. I am dealing with some blood clots in my leg and in my lungs. On blood thinner and the whole nine yards.
Here is my last set of runs.
At the end of this run I did a post turn instead of a front cross, think that’s the only difference.
Lily HT4 Sequence 2
I did not use a lead out hear even though most would. I am having trouble getting here to start, so I am working on techniques to get her going at the start line. It is much worse at a trial. For this reason I am running with her from the start. That’s why I did a rear cross at the start to run with her.
Lily HT4 Sequence 3
A few bobbles here but want to just keep going.

Had a lot of trouble getting jump 2. I know I was using a high arm and probably losing connection. Have to try to stem this. Do you think this was the problem here?
Realized I only did the threadle wrap once. I guess the push wrap seemed more natural.

Forgot my lotus ball on these sequences.
She had some trouble running ahead at first, but then with the last runs she did run ahead to the last jump without the lotus ball.

I really liked her first run and the distance we got.
On the second run, not sure why she turned in the opposite direction on the first jump. She did that a couple of times.
I also liked it when she went out to the far jump after 5 even though this was not the right course.2023 Summer Camp Lily Pkg5 Challenge 3
I’m starting a course with Lily today with Toni Osojnicki (you may know her; she is one of the top trainers at our training facility at Animal Inn). The course is called “The Power of the Send”. This should be good for Lily.I think because Rosie has more distance skills, I am expecting this from Lily and I am not giving her enough support.

ParticipantRosie’s eye is all healed up, yeah!!
We were at a Teacup trial this weekend. Rosie went 12 for 12 and Lily 11 for 12. Lily earned her TACh4! Even though Lily has been very successful in TDAA, I haven’t been putting her in big dog organizations yet (we do CPE too) because I think the stress is still a bit too much for her. Teacup is smaller trials, and we allow much more latitude with treats and toys in the ring. In fact, we are the only organization that actually allows treats in the ring as long as they are not used as a lure and only as a reward.
Lily even gets a bit stressed in these trials. She has the habit of stressing at the start line. Once I get her started, we generally do very well, and she will run the full course and stay focused. She is always excited to go in the ring, but as soon as I try to start, she disconnects and seems stressed until I get her over the first couple of obstacles. Then she is generally focused and runs the rest of the course with speed and focus, similar to the way she does in these videos.2023 Summer Camp Rosie Pkg5 Challenge 2
These runs were not as good as they could have been. I was suffering a bit from a pulled muscle in my back, and I think I should have shown her a bit more energy.
The backside 6 was a bit problematic. She doesn’t have it on a verbal, so I need to show it more.
Those times when she turned the wrong way out of tunnel 3, I wonder if I was confusing her with the turn command. Since she could see me go past the tunnel, it probably should not have been a turn. When I called her name at the end, she turned the right way. I know you used a turn at that point, but in your run, you were behind, here I am ahead of her.
2023 Summer Camp Lily Pkg5 Challenge 2
The first time I lost her it looked like I was not connected.
She also does not have a strong backside. We need more work on that.
I think if I hadn’t seen your run, I would have wrapped 6 on the inside.

Rosie is recovering from an eye scratch, so I only ran Lily today.
Was happy with her send to the tunnel and overall performance with this challenge.Dennis Vogel

2023 Summer Camp Rosie Pkg4 Challenge 3
I ran this challenge a little different than the map. I didn’t think we would be able to get the backside of 6 from a distance and I want to continue the distance training for 4-5-6.
We had trouble with 10. Am I showing her the backside with my shoulders?2023 Summer Camp Lily Pkg4 Challenge 3
I was really happy that Lily was getting the distance 4-5-6.
Not sure why she cut behind me on the second run at 7.Dennis Vogel

I had the most trouble with jumps 1 and 2. I did not think it was going to be that hard to keep her out of the tunnel.2023 Summer Camp Lily Pkg4 Challenge 2
Had similar problems with Lily keeping her out of the tunnel.
It just didn’t seem like the BC on 2 was going to work with her, so I did the wrap on the inside even though it was not as good a line to 3.
I was really happy when she finally got the jumps 4 & 5 at distance.Dennis Vogel

We had a Teacup Trial last Saturday and I was especially proud of my girls. They both went 3 for 3 and they both did 13-14-15 while I layered jump 8 without a hitch.

I was happy with Rosie’s distance. Had some trouble with the backside.2023 Summer Camp Lily Pkg4 Challenge 1
Still need to work on distance with Lily.
The wrap on 8 seem to work the best with Lily.Dennis Vogel
ParticipantRosie Pkg3 Challenge 1-2
I think my problem with jump 5 was that the approach, at least the way I had it set up, was straight on to the side of the jump. So, either side could be a front side or back side. Once I held off on the blind cross until she was in front of the jump, it seemed to work pretty well. What do you think?
I usually don’t use the MM with Rosie because she has a more sensitive stomach than Lily. We only use bison or hamburger for treats. I decided to try Lily’s kibble and see if she could tolerate it. She seemed to do okay with it.
You can see the MM was a real distraction. However, at one point she ignored it and there was food in there, that was real weird!
At the end I was trying to get her to ignore the MM when it wasn’t delivering treats.Lily Pkg3 Challenge 1-2
Working with the MM again. Can be a distraction.
The send to the tunnel is about 50/50. Seems like when it is tunnel 3 (first part of the sequence) it is more successful than when it is tunnel 9 (the second part of the sequence). Am I showing her something different because I am anticipating where the course is going?
We also had some difficulty with the backside of 6. So, I worked on that a bit.Dennis Vogel
ParticipantEven though Kim did a fantastic job with the girls, my foot is feeling better and she is glad to have me back running them.
Rosie Pkg3 Challenge 1-1
I was happy to see the distance I could get with her.
A little miffed about the difficulty with the backside of jump 5. I tried a few things. But never really got it at speed. Most of what I tried slowed her down or she went for the front side.
In the past she seemed to find the backside of jumps pretty well. I was in a seminar this past weekend with Rachael Downs at our training facility (Animal Inn) and we had a similar issue where we struggled to get the backside of jumps.Lily Pkg3 Challenge 1-1
Did not get as much distance with Lily, however, she did much better with jump 5.
I used to hesitate to use the MM because it seems to be an overwhelming distraction. One big take away from last weekend was to train with this distraction and train her to avoid it. Eventually I was able to use it without it being an overwhelming distraction. In fact, there were sometimes where she would ignore it if there were no treats coming.Dennis Vogel
Participant2023 Summer Camp Rosie Kims Warmup Pkg2 Challenge 2-2
Since I hurt my foot, I have been having Kim run the girls. She never runs agility except in these extreme cases, so keep that in mind. Nonetheless, she did a fantastic job. I am afraid of losing my job!
We did some short exercises, which is probably better than when I take the girls out. I have a tendency to overdo.

Lily ran really well for Kim. Maybe I will have her run from now on!2023 Summer Camp Lily – Kim Pkg2 Challenge 2-3
Then on the 4th. I really like how she went out for that last jump even though Kim stopped.Dennis Vogel
ParticipantRosie Pkg2 Sequence 2
Moving the barriers in a bit and using the lotus ball seem to work well.Lily Pkg2 Sequence 2
Lily it was a little more of a challenge. She seem to be better at the begining and then lose it a bit.
She seems to do much better when she is on my left side than right. Or it might be coming out of the tunnel instead of a jump? This may be my last post for a while. As you can see in the last run with Lily, I injured my foot. The doctor says it is plantar fasciitis. Not sure how long before I will recover. Right now it is very painfull.
I go out early in the mornings to beat the heat and the grass is wet. I was wearing some water shoes that have very little support instead of athletic shoes. I think this was my downfall. Lesson learned the hard way.

ParticipantRosie Pkg2 Challenge 1-1
I took the girls to a training seminar last weekend that focused on distance. They both did really well however we did not do layering. This seems to add another dimension for my girls. We needed to get warmed up.
I often get this spin after a send cue. She usually then goes with the send.Rosie
Challenge 1-2
We started out with the barrier closer and ended with the original position.
Still getting the spin.Lily Pkg2 Challenge 1-1
I had a little more trouble with sending with Lily.
I get some of the same spinning with Lily.Challenge 1-2
Moved the barrier in on this one. -
