ParticipantI love that! My goal is definitely a long happy successful career!!
I was really surprised by the return to where the bowl was! Definitely power of reward placement!!
We played ball trades today and did the lateral lead out. With the lead out one there were sooooo many really awesome pieces… and there are so many pieces! except the actual barrel wrap 😂 we have not done anything lateral recently, so maybe a refresher. Or just needs to sleep on it.

ParticipantHello!! Back to our Max Pup videos…
I have to say, one of the things I really love about your class is how broken down all the handling steps are! It works quite well with my brain. Really enjoy these! Thank you!
We did the serps with movement. It took about 5 minutes total with lots of staying, so next time we will do threadles. I forgot the first rep to walk out with hand out. After that I was loading the bowl after the previous rep.
After that we did wing wraps. We did our first wing wraps in our in person puppy class this week as well. They looked about the same and I thought both went well! I was very happy in class that all our foundation on the barrels transferred well as we were the only one not doing the foundation on wings.

ParticipantYay!!!
Today…
Wing wrap… I feel like I’m too late… must be faster. Not to mention some processing time on my part of trying to do it on all sides and directions.

Clobbered jumps on one rep, but seemed to sort that out. I guess that’s why jump bumps!

ParticipantWe have been working on a few MaxPup things without taking video, we did a few more sessions of the above with the suggestions… The only new thing we tackled without video was the find my face game. I will be sure to video next time. I felt like things went well!
New stuff with video. I’m going to use your word “kiss kiss” for tunnel. I have not done this one before. I use “pull pull” for threadles in general.

ParticipantToday, Bokeh – Backside Slice Foundation!

ParticipantThank you! Today we did the next two. Threadle and leading with the head. Watching the video I think I need to be further off the wing for threadles. But was pretty happy with her stays. For the 360s I feel like I was doing something wrong. I need to watch the demo video again… I did it after with my other dog and I think it seemed better, but of course I did not video that.

ParticipantWe did both remote reinforcement and perch work. Both are not totally new concepts. I do have my treat jar out a lot, but this would be the first time with no reinforcement on me or using a marker word. I went with “jackpot” I wrote it down too, so I remember! I think I use “let’s go” too much in normal life. Maybe that does not matter… Perch work we have done since early on, but I did start in one direction only… Need to not do that, next dog is learning both from the beginning! This originated from me wanted to shape a return to heel for field work, so the first few dogs I taught this too only learned one side… Her left side is much stronger, at one point we took a break and only practiced right side.

ParticipantToday! Threadles, Go Out and Rocking Horse. We also did a low key pattern game that I didn’t film. I will remember to do at home often!

ParticipantFor the rocking horse game, I had not read that one yet! I just watched and I’m glad I got it right! I was just going off the add a second barrel suggestion. I have been tending to just do the games in order and read/watch them before I do them. For wrap verbals, I have only used one for wrapping both directions. “Check check check”. I will add that next time. I am really bad with verbals… I have expanded them over time, my first few agility dogs had zero.
We were showing over the weekend, so not on video we took the pattern game on the road and I think that went well. Today we worked on strike a pose and shpile (giggle). They were both fun!
I skipped over the get out game as I have a question about the mechanics. I’m a pretty meat and potatoes handler in general, we don’t have many fancy moves and mostly focus on AKC. My handling preference is usually staying ahead of my dog and lots of fronts and blinds. I am looking forward to learning some new things! For the get out, I feel like if I open my chest to my dogs, they should come into me? I’ve also never taught a “get out”. Anyways, I just don’t want to be confusing.

ParticipantWe did follow-ups per your comments on both barrels and parallel path. Pretty excited about the barrels, we are getting it!!
Then tried the back up part 2. Pretty certain she was actively avoiding backing up to the platform. I’ve never taught backup onto something… so we did a few walking into a 2o2o and then just plain backing up.
Rabies shot this afternoon, so plan to keep mellow for at least a day.

ParticipantToday we did parallel paths and more barrel wraps. I tried less arm (did pretty good there) and being out of the way… also just using food. I think we are making progress, but not sure if we are ready for the other barrel wraps coming up?
Running contacts… yes we plan on doing a running contact with split rear feet as the criteria. I was planning on following Katarina Podlipnik, so I just enrolled to audit in her latest foundation class. We followed her last time and I’m very happy with what I got. I’m not sure what you will have in this class, but should I still include videos if it’s the same topic?

ParticipantYes, it was the tandem turns that felt weird, but I do think we got the hang of it. Looking forward to learning threadle wraps as well!
Morning session we started on adding the bowl to the turn and burn game. It was better in some ways and not in others, IE not coming around, but I think that was mostly me. I’m thinking I might go back to trying this with just food as I feel like there is a lot of fumbling around with everything on my part. Food is easier for me. I also tried to stay out of the path… Your comment about her judging is hilarious! She tries hard!
Also morning, Beginner Retrieve Games (Baby Level)… That went okay, she like to play, but also would like to have a party of one for sure!
Afternoon! We are moving to week 5! I am SOOO excited to see shaped retrieve and running contact foundation up first! I have not worked on either yet! I think a good start, I might need to take the rope off that bumper!

ParticipantYay! I always look forward to your feedback!
This morning we did turn aways and stays. I practiced the tandem turn alone first, but it still started off feeling pretty awkward. I’ve never trained a lap turn and I would like to, so I am doing this with my older dog too! With the stay, we have worked a stay… My method so far has just been reward often in place and release with “okay” drive to me. So this was fun to try something different. This is her first time with “catch”. I’m not good with words, but I’m going to try! I started with trying to have her offer a sit, but I was getting so many other things I switched to cueing it.
Afternoon training. We revisited collection sandwich and turn and burn. The toy throw definitely added enough complexity for me that the rest felt a bit sloppy. Turn and burn is still only one sided…
