ParticipantShe I got a short video of the door behavior, its not full blown because we are working on it, but in this my husband is coming back in the door after taking garbage out. After that you see him attacking my personal trainers equipment as he tries to leave, this one we let him do it so I could video. Its a similar type of reaction as the doors.
We then did a little threadle work with adding tunnel to start. Glenn and I leave for 9 days on Thursday to go camping at Sleeping Bear Dunes. No equipment so may only get one more training in before we go.

Participant<OMG! That is a unique and challenging habit! Is he going through the door with you? Or is this when you are leaving without him?
**** No its when I open the door both coming and going or just open it to step out into garage and grab some sodas for the refridge. Its quite the habit. I’ll see if I can get some video.
>– When you stop doing what he wants he bites. And its hard to catch him and interrupt.>
Ouch! Since he is a full fledged teenager, have you done any stepping down from the arousal of work to help him settle, like a scatter of food or a snuffle mat? Or is this happening in life (not training) and he is biting for attention?
**** I have been using scatters and snuffles. But it happens in everyday life.I decided to work on something with less motion and no tunnel. So we aorked some serpentines tonight.

ParticipantUggggg I preach and teach the two error rule! Why am I letting him frustrate me so much that I’m not practicing that! Okay noted! I will make a more conscious effort.
What triggers me – his barking so so ear piecing loud (I have issues with loud noises) so it puts me on edge and typical sheltie he likes to yell! DancR used to talk constantly and it only triggered me sometimes. I think the difference is the pitch of his barking.
– He has some weird habbits, such as trying to attack the backside of a door when your leaving, literally slamming the door on you (we are trying to work on this).
– When you stop doing what he wants he bites. And its hard to catch him and interrupt.
-he is an obsessive licker, ie your skin and is hard to get to stop.
-he has no personal space boundaries with any human.
I’m sure there are others, but those are what come to mind right now.I will make sure to get more video at class so I can analyze exactly when he is leaving.

ParticipantPoweR turned 18 months yesterday. I am still struggling with my relationship with him. I finally figured out that its because he is not as biddable as what I have had and he is way more independent. He knows how to push my buttons and trigger me. Heavy sigh.
We worked on The winging it with tunnel and 2 wings. He really struggled with any counterclockwise rotation. At one point he got so amped he bit me. So I stopped worked some hand touches to balance and then tried again. We did not get through all the iterations because he was just spiraling up. So I cut it and am sending what we got.
In class he leaves me a lot to go visit other dogs or people (he loves both)
This has makes working him in class very frustrating for me and we still break down to just 2-3 obstacles at a time to try to keep his focus.KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantVisit to the rehab vet. He was locked up in the sacral area, she fixed that. Felt him all over agreed with me that she found no trigger points or tight muscles. She also looked at all the radiographs that I had and said they were very unremarkably perfect. She agreed that I should continue jump grid work and proprioception and core exercises. If the problem continues we will investigate further. On her gait plate he was standing square with expected weight on each limb.
We worked tonight on winging it with tunnel and tandem turns. He thought these games were lots of fun.

ParticipantOkay we have an appointment tomorrow with the local rehab vet. I have tested his patellas everywhich way to Sunday and on his prelim ofa eval they were fine. Psoas is pliable and no issues with abduction or full extension of hips. My current theory (remember I am rehab certified), is due to his length of back and length of hocks he needs even more proprioception work and oblique core work.
We worked on Wingin it. This was harder for me. Still navigating my new knees with rotation and powering out. So I look like I’m wide stepping or listing to one side or the other. He had a lot to sy as usual during this session. Interesting I didn’t ask him to sit to start but he kept offering it.
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantComment on his sit for motion override. He has a great verbal only sit when his is not aroused. We are working on it during arousal but its def delayed when he wants to do other things.
We worked on Concept transfer 4 ways and teeter. I’ve been keeping bars low as he is very losey goosey in the rear right now on both sides. Headed to get his pelvis looked at by rehab vet and investigate farther if needed.

ParticipantWe had some really cold weather again and I was not going outside. Finally some decent weather again. I worked on some of the focus forward. Had to use the Manners Minder because he is not very excited about a lotus ball tossed.
I also worked on the motion over ride. He has no problems doing a sit any time but when he is aroused his sit becomes very delayed.KIRSTIE DEAN
Participant“ know you probably have your hands on him all the time, but you can get a 2nd opinion on if he has any pain/tightness/soreness/ROM restrictions in the hind end. Has he had his preliminary hip/spine radiographs? And a patella exam when he is laying on his side and not standing up?”
Yes, although one can always work on him more. He has had prelim rads done at a health clinic on hips, elbows, stifles and spine (always get those to compare to down the road). He also had a full baseline eval with joint angle and muscle measurements at the local rehab vet (again to have for comparison later if needed). And she also checked patellas.I set up the lazy game with low and no bars as suggested. And I did a setpoint first at 12 then at 14.
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantWe did a session of the lazy game with the tunnel. Still lots of bar knocking at one point I moved most of the bars to 8 inches. I really do not like the way he jumps. I have worked on the Linda M. Jump foundations but he just gets so ramped up and focused on me. He is not as able to bark and still work as all my other guys.
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantWe added distance to the jumps on the lazy game. I made the mistake of not having easy enough to find treats. So next time I will make that change. To me he did better once I added the verbals.
I also wanted to show you where we are on the Dogwalk and teeter, as I am ahead of the class on these. I would love your comments on continuing to progress them. As you can see (and to answer your question) I am doing 2o2o for these. But I will be doing a running a-frame.
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantWe got outside. Weather has not been great, but I put my equipment out anyway. We worked on The Lazy game. I was pretty happy with how he progressed here.
I also did some teeter work. We have done lots of the bang game znd the boy is fearless about the teeter, does it by himself outside at time (I only left it where he could get to it after I was sure he wasn’t spooked by anything. The backing up onto it we have not done (I have done lots of backing up for fitness, but in this context he had no idea where those back legs were, oh my).
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantYipee got to put my equipment out into the yard today. Hopefully some outdoor stuff coming before posting ends.
I did some of the threadle tunnel in the basement. I definitely think we might revisit some of the foundation with just the tunnel. I’m wondering if this might have gone better with a little more space between wings and tunnel.
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantWas able to get some floor time at training center today.
We worked on the Pillbug, Push and pull (I really need to just keep doing some work on just 2 wings), and 3 jumps with your suggestions from out last video.
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantWe did some work with the ladder grid. Its starting to get more difficult to do the stuff in my limited space. I sure hope some of the snow melts so I can do some outside.
