KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantWe got back from AKC NAC last night. Exhausting trip. Since its raining I set this up in the basement. Ladder Jumps first session.

ParticipantSo we worked the ZigZag again, had to move inside as the wind chill here is awful. The wing were only 5 feet apart. The adult dogs did well with this drill, RydR better than DancR (who will get to do more of this). I was again very happy with how he did.

ParticipantIn et the Zigzag wings up in the yard to play with the adult dogs as I thought it would be fun to see how they did. So then I decided to go ahead and do StrykR outside. I have to say I’m very pleased with how he did.
As far as all of these different drills go, I’m wondering if anybody has ever made a list of them so that you could go back easily and revisit certain ones. Wondering how much we should go back to some of the initial drills in Max Pup 1? Just trying to keep up with re-visiting The drills that we should continue to work on.

ParticipantToday we went back and did some more work on Discriminations.

ParticipantWe tried the tunnel exits again using your suggestions. I had noticed on my other video that all my verbals had the same cadence. This is a common error for me. I tend to start to make them all sound the same. I also get loud when I use any verbals. So it was a challenge for me but something “I” really need to be more aware of.

ParticipantWe played with Tunnel, exits. He is still very handler focused.

ParticipantWe were able TO GO OUTSIDE!
Set up the smiley face drill. I should have been a little bit better prepared. He was not able to see the treats in the grass so I had to hand them to him. I think this then made him too focused on me. Thinking maybe I should have tried this with a toy.
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantWe went back and worked on just some wing wraps with the toy dangling as suggested. I then moved on to a session of Threadle work with the Manners Minder (that sounded like it was dying. But the good news is he didn’t care so I kept using it), we the went back to the toy to do a few tunnels with the toy. I have to remember that when he gets tired and is panting he has a hard time tugging.
KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantI will try your suggestions the next time I work on this. Thanks. We also worked on some threadle tunnels. I have always done threadles with the opposite arm across my body. I am trying to transition over to the handling position of strike a pose. But I’m finding it difficult to figure out what my body should be doing on the tunnel threadles not sure why. I just can’t seem to wrap my head around it. Here was our session. I think I need some help.

ParticipantWorked on some things at the training center.I started and ended the sessions with the Flirt pole.

ParticipantChanging the Yes Marker is not going to happen. I am very aware when on course to not sure it at inappropriate times, and if I do I fully expect the dog to leave what they are doing and come towards me.
It was actually a fitness prop that we had just worked on rather than the bed that he was being drawn to on the one end. About 1/2 way through the session I went and relocated it. Lol.Here is a session at the training center with toys. I started with a flirt pole as I knew that would get him going. I found it very difficult to navigate with the toy.

ParticipantWe have ben doing some work on rocking horses. I originally did a session at the training center. It did not go well, in hind sight I was feeling rushed because of my work schedule and should have not tried to sqeeze it in. So I decided to give it a few days and try again at home. I started with the wings close and then moved them out.

ParticipantWe had a setback in training last night. I went into the session fully thinking we were going to do the threadle/serp exercise and add motion. StrykR had other plans. He could not do the drill in any shape or form. This is parts of the session. It starts showing what I got. I then tried many different things to get him back to where we had left off in the past. You will see that I ended up going all the way back to nose touch target, reward then strike a pose reward. The entire session was a lot longer as I kept trying things and just had to keep backing up. It was like he had never seen any of it before. Since this is the first time that I have had this problem with him. Mostly he is just brilliant, I got a little frustrated. Then after spending spending some time thinking about it, I realized that we were in one of those learning valleys. Partly I’m posting this to remind myself that even dogs have off days and setbacks in their learning.

ParticipantSearch is indeed a general, food is being tossed so go find it. I do not have a verbal for food will be chucked at you try to catch it. My room service marker for them to stay in place and I will bring the food to them is “Goooddd”.
Since I have been leaning away from formal crate games I was thinking you might be as well so was just wondering what? Types of training you were doing with the crate.
We have been doing some stationing work and I am pleased as punch with StrykRs progress.KIRSTIE DEAN
ParticipantInteresting! Both brothers are lefties!
