ParticipantWeek 1 Wrap Verbals Step 1
Ok, here is part 1. I decided to use dig dig dig for a wrap to the left and check check check for a wrap to the right. I was struggling a bit with my small space on how far/fast I could move so for sure need more practice. But, wanted to get this out there for review before I do too many reps incorrectly lol. This is two different sessions with a short play break in between (Falco tires easy because he only contains 30% border collie genetics 🙂 )
One rep he thought rear cross () because my feet were facing the wrong way (not towards the jump). I assume he was correct? I mean he’s facing the jump and I tell him chech chech check (which he might not totally know yet because I added the verbal tonight) but, even if my feet/body aren’t right, should I expect him to go to the jump and wrap it since he’s sort of looking at it anyway? Actually, just wondering how perfect I need to be.

ParticipantAll of your suggestions are totally right. I’m just struggling with trying to remember all the words and the amount of time/reps to teach the words. Previous dogs have only had a ‘turn’ (away from me), out (move away from me) and I understand I have to be seen for these to work (and not have a dog that looks around for me). And the slower I get and the harder courses get, this isn’t going to work. I’ll put some more thought into these but for the wraps, I’ll start having 2 different words. Makes sense and needs to be done. Thx!
