ParticipantVibe and I had her first official in-person 1/2 day workshop yesterday. She was brilliant! And not once did she leave me or seek reinforcement from the environment. We even did some things in the order we were supposed to 🙂 All of the foundation we have worked on with your MaxPup courses, have really helped us!! Thank you!!!

ParticipantHi Tracy, I can’t believe this course is almost done. Time flies when you’re having fun! Thank you as always, I feel like Vibe and my bond and teamwork are blossoming with working through the exercises. I “lose” her maybe 5% of the time, with what used to be more like 30-40%. Worked on some of the Week 8 exercises this morning, she is Brilliant!! Looking forward to MaxPup 4!!

ParticipantMorning, Thanks for that feedback! I used a hairband foot target for my last dog, duct tape is easier for sure with squeeze cheese. I will start some 4on foot targeting with Vibe. Thanks!

ParticipantWe did our first “climb that mountain!” teeter session yesterday (after warm-up refresher-hopping on and off & turns on a higher incline plank). She was freaking brilliant!!! First rep a little hesitation driving to the end of teeter, but wasn’t worried at all and turning well on her own. She quickly figured out that the end of board “delivered” and started moving to the end on her own. Squeeze cheese for the win. I was tossing a re-set cookie off the end of the down plank, so she was driving down the board and then naturally re-setting herself for the next rep. Hope that’s okay?
She also loved the lazy training.talismanfarm7
ParticipantThanks! Good info to work on.

ParticipantOkay thanks, sounds like a good plan.

ParticipantThanks for another great class, we are still working through the material. Vibe is still a baby, so not in a rush. I am more focused on building our bond in real life, while also working the skills. Is MaxPup3 a good next step, if we are still so “far behind”?

ParticipantThanks! Yes, I think it will be great for all. I finally am starting to feel like I might have more value than a squirrel…for Vibe 🙂 New fur tugs are helping!

ParticipantGood morning, Super congrats on CanAm!!!! We were quietly rocking little successes at home, while cheering everyone on. 🙂 We are still “behind”, but seeing the little pieces come together is amazing. The Get Out & either/or follow the Mama exercise from this week was smooth and she got it! So much fun. Vibe is Still switching food/toys well and even working just for a tug or ball on certain things. We skipped rear crosses, so going back to that. Thanks again for this stellar foundation, love being able to do the little exercises, to structure our training time (short). I see glimmers of our future teamwork building too.

ParticipantI am a little behind with working on some of the “things” in this class. Yesterday, set up the Minny Pinny. Vibe was awesome!! Offered it right away, and we worked on our verbals. Also, happily switched from food to toys and back to food-which I have been working on to build value while training. I LOVE the foundation from our Level 1 and seeing these lightbulb moments. Thank you Tracy!

ParticipantThanks for that input!

ParticipantThank you for the suggestions!! She does love long & fluttery tugs and has tons of prey drive, so I started doing some rollers with her-with small, soft discs. Tossed one and as she came back with it (even if she didn’t retrieve the whole way), I tossed another the opposite direction so she was driving to it and I ran to the other way to grab 1st disc, and so on. She seemed to love the game of “I chase and kill it” :). Only a few reps. We did a big sniffy walk after and visited my goats.
She does seem to compartmentalize what she finds “rewarding” in different contexts, so I will work on making toys more fun, without the pressure of asking her to do anything. Keeping food separate right now makes a lot of sense. Thanks for pointing that out. She is still such a baby dog. It is really interesting to me after decades of training BC’s to see that part in her, but then the Frenchie kicks in too. She has a cool little brain!
Thanks again. Have a good rest of your summer!talismanfarm7
ParticipantThis has been a great class!! Vibe is 4 1/2 months now and going through a bit of the juvenile “I don’t need you” stage and working outside has been harder for keeping her focus. She really prefers food to toys for training outside & is teething, but loves to tug if there is no obvious training involved (if that makes sense?). I have been keeping training sessions short & fun, with lots of rewards. If you have any suggestions, that would be awesome.
I feel like we have some good homework to keep building our teamwork and baby dog skills, until the next class starts up. Thank you!!talismanfarm7
ParticipantThanks! That did help to sit and use my legs as a V, adding the rear foot target also seemed to help her. In other news, she hopped onto a low Dogwalk and ran it…Yikes! (cones going on DW when we are out there)

ParticipantNot sure as an auditor if I can ask questions? Tiny dog and backing up-looks more like tiny dog spinning in between my feet, because she can 🙂 I’m wondering if sitting might work better?
