here we are Trying “out”. The mechanics are not as easy as you made it look in the video haha. At least barry could figure out what I was trying to do. He was unwilling to sit, just being a busy bum. i might have to spend some more time paying just the sit. I did have lighter coloured treats this time… not sure it helped.

this was the first thing we did so he wasn’t tired from the other things. So maybe I just blew his little puppy brain. He really seemed to like that toy and i might have dropped a treat.

The whole session was about 4 minutes. so maybe rather than stopping, i should have done something easy? Maybe a couple of hand targets, just to build up the value of me. 🙂

just sharing this for completeness, I spend toooo long AGAIN! (Despite knowing at every level its the wrong thing to do, I keep chasing “one more rep”. I even set my timer!) I’m going to blame perimenopause (I blame everything I don’t like on perimenopause).

It was barry’s first time going round the bin. (I’d done a couple of reps of just getting him go round the bin with treats before I started videoing.) I knew I should have stopped when he started sniffing the ground. I did so much playing he was tired. I sped up the me playing bits. He really loved that toy! haha

I just two quick(ish) reps of the threadle slice before I lost the light – hopefully you can see. I love your “stay both ways”, it’s really helped baby barry understand the stay. And I told myself to put some light coloured treats in my treat pouch before heading to the backyard, but failed to do so (I get so close to pulling it together then fail). (I also wanted to show you his cute death roll with the toy)

Plankrobics. You know on an intellectual level that sometimes dog just “get it” once they’ve had a break from something and come back to it, but it’s always amazing when it happens. Look at Babby Barry go on this!

plankrobics. I’ve done a few foot targetting things with Babby Barry but he’s not very confident. (He can jump up on things (like the bed) when he has a run up, but can’t bounce up from next to the bed – and he’s a poodle -sproinging is what they do!)
My plan is to do more Shpile-type stuff and mix it in with some Mari Valgma movement puzzles which are more structured than the shpile approach, but focused on proprioception. Two-pronged attack!

RC on the flat, I felt a lot more comfortable on the mechanics and I think it flowed a lot better.

Trying to build on send and go. I’ve seen all the other exercises that use the target and I’m wanting to make sure I’ve built enough value for the target for those exercises. I’m struggling to get much distance, am i being too much?

Ah yes… I may have changed too many things all at once. I thought I’d done a lot more than I had! bless his babby heart.

Oooo adolescence is hitting. Here’s a video of 2 sessions. They’re in roughly the same spot at club (just different camera angles). The first session had dogs and people training and the second session was after everyone left (about 1 hour apart) He has previously coped with this amount of busy-ness but he was very distracted.

Hi – I hope I’m not posting too many videos and the length is ok. Please let me know if I’m going overboard! I think the threadle foundation is going well. he definitely focuses on the hand target when it goes down.

Tried the forward focus with a front cross and two toys. I hooked the video up to my headphones so the sound is less wind noise. Yay

Running contact first session! This video is a bit long – but you can probably watch it on double speed and not lose anything haha. I got to the running through the contact at the end. I think he did better with the box. There was one monster in the crate moment when i threw a treat too close to Frank’s crate but Babby bounced back

Rear cross with foot target. Once again the baby wins prizes and My mechanics do not. That lap turn is weird for my body, I’ve never taught a rear cross from the ground in this way. I have partially relied on the dog driving ahead (and hoping my timing was right) and when I have tried to teach it on the flat, the method was not like this at all! It was trying to be purely verbal.
