ParticipantThe snow melted back off and so we tried the turn and burn on the wing today outside. I don’t think Dice had any problem transferring the concept to the wing. I rushed leaving on one rep and pulled him off, but other than that he was successful.

ParticipantThat totally made my day, thank you!

ParticipantWe will work the pin wheel again when the snow melts. We got a little snow the other day and I’m hoping it’ll be gone soon. Thank you for the clarification about spacing on the jumó bumps. 😊
We tried the motion on serps and Threadles tonight. I think it went really well except when the MM decided to get sticky. I fast forwarded through us fiddling with that part. Lol

ParticipantSounds good, I’ll try to incorporate the porridge game and the food. I think including the food with the sit will definitely work better. The arms are going to get better. I’m determined. Lol
Tonight we tried the Minny Pinny. He was doing well at this distance, (I started with just a foot or so between the jumps) so I was rewarding out of my hand. I scooted the wing out about 6 inches maybe for the last two reps and he did ok with that distance it seems. If you think it would be better to toss the reward out away from me, just let me know and I’ll go back to that instead. I also noticed that in feedback you gave to someone else, you suggested slowing down in giving the right and left cues, so I think I may have been saying them too quickly.

ParticipantWe tried the rocking horse pt 2 from class outside this evening and I am trying to get a little pause or a sit before just sending him right into the next rep. When I asked for a sit, I got barking and sometimes jumping. Once he just left me to go to do the barrel on his own. Is there anything you’d like me to adjust? Watching the video, I think I may be using my arms too much too?
Marie Lister
ParticipantBig arms and saying “yes” a LOT are deeply ingrained. 😂 This will be a work in progress. We’ll get there though. I think the taking a quick breath and waiting before starting the next rep of whatever game is going to be a good thing to work on as well.
OK, I realized we haven’t videoed the rocking horse yet either, so here is that one too. Looking forward to class tomorrow! Thanks again for the feedback.

ParticipantOk, we tried again today without as much flipping him away with my arm and we definitely had more questions from him. I tried some reps separate from the double whammy game but when I tried the double whammy game, he still obviously had some questions. I am not sure if I was doing something wrong or not. Maybe just more reps standing still on my part closer to the end of the tunnel?
We also tried the tight turn 360 game from a couple weeks ago. I think it went well, can we transfer this to the collapsible barrel or a wing now?
Marie Lister
ParticipantThe snow in the field all melted off and we were able to set up the tunnel threadle and double whammy game today. I’m hoping to go back through some of the other games that we’ve been working on tomorrow.

ParticipantAwesome, thank you! I was having trouble getting him to give the toy at one point. lol I’ll go back and work on the two toy games again and build back in more value for release as well as the tug. 🙂 Can’t say I’m sad to have this as an issue, I’m thrilled to see him engaged with the toy this much.
Yes, the feedback about breaking down the movement more on the race to toy makes perfect sense and I’ll keep you posted. Thanks again!

ParticipantOk we are going to be playing a bit of catch up this weekend I think. But we did manage to try the reverse retrieve yesterday. I also included where we are with the dead toy and racing him to a toy in the same session. When I race him to the toy he looks at me and not the toy. Do you have any suggestions? Should I not race him to the toy right now? On the reverse retrieve I think showed way too much motion on the second to last rep and pulled him off the toy. Other than that though I thought he did super!
Marie Lister
ParticipantAwesome, thanks! As we continue working on the threadles, should we mix in serps occasionally in the same sessions? I’ll work on improving the treat placement on the backsides. I have been trying reward more with the arm across the body on other games, so I think it bled into this one.
Tonight we worked on beginning remote reinforcement. Do you think we could add in some cued behaviors next time?
Marie Lister
ParticipantLee, thank you. I think you and Brisk are doing great too!

ParticipantWe haven’t fallen off the face of the earth! We finally got some training in tonight and we tried the games from this week.
Strike a Pose 3:
He is driving to the MM tonight without the hesitation that we had on Tuesday. I didn’t use the target, just my hand. I think that might have helped. I still had trouble standing completely still and being in the right spot, but Dice did well. I added the cue “close”, I hope that’s ok.Backside Slice Foundations:
I put a line down for myself so I didn’t drift too far over. With this one, he was going around to the backside well, but my reward/treat placement wasn’t good. I dropped it so close to the jump bump a couple times he wasn’t coming over the bump. I’ll work on that. I did decide to just use the “back back” cue for this skill.Perchwork:
Dice likes his perch. This was the easiest of the games for us tonight.Looking forward to your feedback.

ParticipantAll signed up as well! Dice and I are loving the live classes! Maybe I should have asked how much space we are going to need this time though first? LOL I’m hoping the weather is going to cooperate enough to possibly be outside a little as it’s always a gamble with spring weather here.
Marie Lister
ParticipantThank you for the feedback! I will choose a cue for the tunnel threadle.
>keep your send hand low and pointing to where you want him to enter the cone will probably help stop the swooshy stuff.
I really want to work on keeping my arms lower. I tend to have big arms when I run.>He is a little speedster, we will get you happy with all the types of rear crosses
I am hoping that Dice will make me to use rear crosses on occasion. That would be awesome! Here’s what we worked on today. 😊
Parallel Path:
This was the first session with the jump. It took a couple times on the one side but when I watched the video I wonder if my arm was back a bit on that side closest to him and maybe he was assuming I was going to call him into me? I also wondered if you would prefer I trade out the jump bump for something more flat? He did “jump” a bit on a few of the reps.
Running Contacts Foundation:
I don’t have a PVC box made yet. So this is just using a mat.
Thank you again for all the help! We will see you tomorrow at class!
