ParticipantBacking up! I used the cabinets as she likes to go straight through.

ParticipantDot is feeling better today, but still on a bland diet. So, limited treats. We played two toy game and she was better. It’s better, but she still wants to stay on one toy.
Later in the afternoon I took two identical toys into the backyard to play. It wasn’t filmed. She was cracking me up trying to get the black toy out of my pocket! However, I played toss the toy and she actually returned it to me several times. I was smart and didn’t push it. I only did a few and it was all very successful. It’s an N of one..but the first time she’s done this in the backyard. Yay!
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHmmm. She doesn’t always come back for the second toy. I’ll try that when she feels better. Yes, she does like lining up between my legs! You are remembering correctly!
This was yesterday when she wasn’t feeling great. Still sick today. Poor boo. Giardia cysts negative, but that’s not overly reliable. Hopefully better in a day or two on a bland diet. Plus, she’s chewing through toys and occasionally swallowing some fabric before I can catch it. I wish she liked to chew on rubber toys!
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantOk, I’ll try that later.
Here is yesterday’s toy race. She was not happy when I won! It’s still taking too long to find her treat to give me a head start, so I only tried that twice. You can see toy possession is still a big thing. We are working on it. But, it still needs a ton more work. Not much value for returning to me in a large space.

ParticipantI took some air out. But, after she got on the first time she seemed to avoid getting back on them all again. More air out? Maybe the nubby side fee,s weird to her?
She did better with the plank.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantThat makes sense!
Ok, shaping in arousal. Dot knows where her front feet are, but not the back feet! I can’t tell if she was a little worried about the wobble board. I did two different sessions.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantSo, I am apparently confused about which keg to use on the hold the line exercise. When she was on my right and turning left I had my non dog side leg (left” and left hand pointing to the line. On my left to turn right I picked my dog side leg (still left) but right hand. Which is correct?
She did pretty well regardless. Once the bowl was further around I think I said go. Not sure what verbal to use as “bowl” in theory means go to the bowl and she might not go around the cone. Pretty good toy and food switch today. It’s a new day with a puppy!
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantNo…she’s definitely not ready to be free without supervision!
Today we did collar grab and she did well. Sometimes in real life she mouths me when I go to grab her collar.
Also, our second session of cone wrap with bowls. This AM we played with the toy first. But, when I put it up she did three reps and then sat and stared. I think she couldn’t transition off the toy to this game and two toys isn’t useful yet. After a little vet scare we played again in the afternoon. She’s fine! But, I used food tosses as her warm up and break. It went MUCH better.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantI need to become an octopus!
This is SSC. The neutral object is a photo frame. In all fairness she came off the cot to check it out before I had released her to the game. We are still working on “place” meaning stay put until you get a release cue. But, this is the reps after I put her back and released her.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantOh…I like the send to the bowl option. She did well with the stays, but I don’t want to overuse them as they are new.
I’m not sure there’s enough space for 2 BC, but I can try. It’s pretty muddy back there still. I’ll have to ponder what hand to hold the toy in though. I always have to think about it with the reward across the body.
Here’s a brief goat game. I used the “non preferred” red toy. Haha. She’s still trying to figure out that the caboose is attached to the front!
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHaha.. there is NO chill that goes on in that room unless she’s asleep in a covered crate. She runs and bites beds, steals pillows off the couch, messes with the blinds etc. She has VERY limited access as I’m exhausted trying to get her to play with her chews and toys and not things she shouldn’t. Dot does not redirect. She wants what she wants.
We tried BC and I gave up on treat tosses. It takes her too long to find it, then I’m behind. So, I just used her stay. I’m using it sparingly!
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHaha. The licking treats are all frozen! However, I never thought about freezing the fidelis chew. Does that work?
She struggles to settle between 7-9 pm and needs a Kong and chew at night. I tried broccolini stems in bone broth and froze them. NOPE! She wouldn’t eat them. She will eat a whole frozen carrot as a chew. I’m just not sure one a day is good for her. The kongs, freeze bones, toppl’s etc are dog food with yogurt and sardines. One can makes 3-4 frozen treats.
So, it’s the black toy she wants. No idea why. I couldn’t get her to chase the treat off of that toy. So, I changed to two French linen toys. One still has its handle. My dogs seem to target that junction rather than the center of the toy so I usually cut the handle off. She is strong when she decides to tug. Since she was switching I tried to see if she’d offer to go without activating the other side. She did, but maybe lumping and I should have made the other side active?
We did the wrap with treats as I dint think toy is useful for this game yet.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHi Tracy,
I’m not sure what you mean by this. “ make it stationary then toss a treat when she releases it.” She is NOT letting go of the toy that she wants. So, when do I toss the treat?
We went outdoors for toy races and decel. Toy races are hard with the longline as ids getting tangled around my feet or hers. You can see she has zero interest in returning to me with the toy.
Decel was hard with the toy as she swings wide when tugging. Is that a problem? Also, treat in the grass is still hard to find. I tried to hit the targets, but… plus, I’ll been told she needs to lose weight so pieces are small. She requires kongs and chews at night to settle. Literally, she can eat an entire fidelis chew in one setting. Too many calories so now I’m limiting them.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantI’ll see what we can do outdoors later today.
Here is prop sends. So much better!
We are struggling with two toy game. Dot wants what she wants and does not redirect well. This is very consistent with her underlying personality. If she’s trying to bite her bed and I try to get her in a toy she either won’t leave the bed biting or comes to the toy and immediately goes back to biting her bed.
She wanted the black toy even when dead. Other than the color the toys are the same. One may be more worn than the other.

ParticipantWe are still working on toy skills. If she wins the toy she tends to stand and stare or chew it. It’s a work in progress. Outdoors might work with the toy on a long line. The hackberries are mostly gone now!
Here’s deceleration and turn. There isn’t much room. Also…ugh…I’m moving before my find it cue. I’ll try to tighten that up. I was putting Dot on the cot while I reloaded to change sides. That worked well for her. Otherwise, she might be wandering the living room. She still has limited free access in that room as she usually tries to bite and destroy the bed, steal pillows off the couch, eat the blankets etc rather than play with the toys and chewies on the ground for her.
