    The Shpile Game

Rusty seemed to have a lot of fun with this game. He got braver as it went on tackling the noise and unstable surfaces. And he worked in more arousal as the game went on.

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Get It Out Prop Game

Baby Level from one side only. I thought I would get some feedback before proceeding further. From the video, I am guessing that my body is turned too much as I point and throw. Rusty caught on way quicker than I thought he would.

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Rocking Horse Games

Baby Level – I would say that Rusty got the hang of this game pretty quickly!

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Backing Up 2

Took to these like a fish to water. He likes backing up!

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Running Contacts Foundation 2

Once he got in the rhythm, I thought he did quite well working at the longer distance and sending away from me. This foodie is in love with the Manners Minder!

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Retrieves 2

Here is my attempt at retrieves in a larger space. I am deliberately not in the basement because that is where Rusty expects food and goes on strike when it is not available.

The first two retrieves with the white cord went pretty well. It was downhill after that! I tried the fur pouch which has had food in it in the past and so like the lotus ball, he wants to keep it for himself so he has the time to try to open it.

Lastly I tried balls – his two favorite balls. Some action there but not a lot.

Let’s just say I welcome your feedback. He is a very much “what’s in it for me” type dog. At this point, food rather than fun is very much his “it”.

    Rotated Sends 2

Though accurate, he was a bit less animated in this sequence. Let’s just say that it was done following Parallel Path Commitment at the end of a long day that involved his going to obedience class and then waiting while his sister had class too. I think he understands the task.

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Parallel Path Commitment 2

Much more actual commitment to going between the uprights this time around. This is the final three quarters of the session unedited. He didn’t make any missteps in the first quarter either!

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Alternate Rear Cross 2

Rusty definitely benefitted from our initial session. I think I felt better about his progress after reviewing the video. I thought it best to begin with the food tosses before adding in the prop. He is not magnetized to the prop but it did seem to draw his attention.

As to the Kamal Workshop, I ended up only taking Rusty. We were only allowed to crate one dog inside and given the frigid weather conditions, I was not willing to crate either of them in the car for lengthy periods of time. Also Sunday was Handler’s Choice and that day you can only work one dog. So I think it worked out for the better – was also Rusty’s intro to hotel stays.

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Retrieves

Rusty does them but in a lackluster way. I think the balls went better than the toys. Clearly more toy work is needed.

    Look forward to your feedback.

We’ve returned from the Kamal Workshop and are now back at it. The workshop was great. Kamal did some work with Rusty in regard to toy play which I am now trying to build on.
    Running Contacts Foundation
Rusty thought the Manners Minder was pretty cool. Not much intro time needed for this foodie. That intro made the exercise go quickly. Should I be using a yoga mat rather than the rug square and doormat.

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Alternate Rear Cross

This was hard as you predicted. Rusty wanted to do a 360 after picking up the cookie. I played around with it until we got to this point. I will be interested to see what happens in the next session. I am guessing he has it but that remains to be seen.

I will be offline for a bit as I am going to a Kamal Fernandez Workshop tomorrow evening thru the weekend. Yes, Rusty and Folger are going too. Stay tuned!

    Look forward to your feedback.

    On the Road!

We went down to the dock, a place Rusty hadn’t been before. No one was around but clearly different sights, smells and sounds. I started the game right away before he had much of a chance to look around. He is such a foodie that this game seems to trump the environment. Once he was done playing the game he was eager to look around.

    Look forward to your feedback.

    Parallel Path

Rusty also seemed to like these. Instead of turning while he is eating his snack, I think I need to be walking clear to both ends so he reads his motion off of mine.

    Look forward to your feedback.
