    Hi Tracy!
Thank you for the feedback πŸ™‚ I had done some foot shaping on different objects previously so I brought them back out- bucket, cooler lid with some drawer gripper on it & a cardboard box. There was no hesitation on any of these objects. So I’m going with you that the nobs on the pods feel weird lol! Should we revisit them from time to time or wait until she’s older?

We played SSC folding starting with the bucket behind the cone & made it to the other side πŸ™‚ Since Sunnie came home, when I throw a toy for her I say Ready ( I don’t know why, it just came out LOL) anyway she started freezing in place & then I would throw the toy. I didn’t meant to train this, it just morphed into something πŸ™‚ Her father is a pointing lab champion (never heard of this until this breeding!) Maybe that’s why she does what does! Anyway the reason I’m telling you this is because I started the session with a “Ready”, you will see what happens LOL!

Impromtu wobble board with a toy! We started to play with a toy so I quickly brought out the wobble board to see if I could continue the game on the board! πŸ™‚

While I had her engaged in toy play we went off to the races- this was FUN!! She was ALL in LOL!

Hi Tracy! Thank you for the feedback πŸ™‚

Morning sessions are after breakfast, I hold back a portion to train/play with πŸ™‚
Evening (after work) sessions are before “dinner” it’s the opposite I holdback a little for dinner for a puzzle toy πŸ™‚

Totally agree with you (& I didn’t think of it – so thank you!) that when switching from food to toy, make sure that toy comes Alive and get out of the food area. Even tho’ my area is small I can make it work πŸ™‚ < sometimes πŸ™‚ > Outside and nicer weather will help too, so may be April LOL!! I also made a crazy toy as you suggested and tied 2 toys together πŸ˜€

And we can set up a separate game to build in food and toys together:
This is where you can have boring cookies up high on a counter and trade the toy for one cookie. Toss the cookie as the reward for releasing the toy… then when she gets the cookie, take off and run to a different area, dragging the toy and being wild with it. It might mean you run to a different room or a hallway so you are pretty far from the food – but this can really help get her right back on the toy in a fun way. Just be careful not to run into anything!
I will try this! Question, am I using the same cookie to have her release the toy & toss the cookie?

We took a whirl at SSC Folding. Again I’m not good at getting the food in the bowl quick enough before release – She wants to GO! LOL!

Next we tried the pods. I feel like I totally forgot how to shape a behaviour! πŸ˜€ I did so much of it with Kelsie (8 y/o) when she was little, she was a thinker before I realized it, so shaping came so easy for her, she loved it! Sometimes I fee like Sunnie doesn’t think as hard, if that makes sense. I do have to realize she is a puppy and she is not Kelsie! When I see this, should I break it down even further, not sure how I did with the pods. In the moment I asking myself oh should I have marked that? But by then it’s too late πŸ˜€

Lastly we tried the wobble board with noise. I jumped right to that because she has been on the board previously. My 1st water bottle failed in the noise department & the 2nd one got flat really fast LOL!

Hi Tracy! Thank you for the feedback! πŸ™‚ Finally getting around to sharing video from Sat morning! We are getting buried under snow & Sunnie is taking a nap now πŸ™‚

I took your suggestion and tied another toy to the hollee roller. I wanted to try Focus Forward with a toy, up until now we have only used food. This was a morning session, I saved a portion of her kibble for this training session. If I bring out the food first, I’m finding the toy play isn’t as strong until later. The there are times that switching back & forth between food & toys are no problem. I just go woth the flow and never force the toy. I split the FF session into 2 videos. It took a bit to get toy play and I wanted to show you those pieces. I held onto toy play longer so the session went on a bit longer than normal.

First video shows us playing right out of the box, as soon as we walked into this area. When I wanted to set up FF I realized I had nothing to help her (me) release the toy! At that moment I also realized is now the time to teach her an out? Up until now I’ve switch toys or just had a cookie in my hand. Thoughst? So got some kibble shoved in my pocket & we got 1 rep of FF with the toy.

Here is part 2, this picks up where I tried to get another drive ahead to the toy, but it wasn’t happening, so I just switched to food. I went back to some toy play and FF with food again. I ended with lots of personal play πŸ™‚

Back to the Prop Game. This time I made sure I had no cookies in my hand. The timing for tossing toward the prop when she was headed there wasn’t as quick as if the cookies were in my hand, but I think it is way less confusing for her this way! I’m sure she can smell the cookies when they are in my hand or sees me reaching for my pocket! LOL!

Well the sunshine girl is up! See you at the next one! LOL!!

Hi Tracy! Thank you for the feedback πŸ™‚ I’m finding our groove with selecting games to play. I video mostly every session, but don’t get to post all of them – ya know, I’m on Sunnie’s schedule, lol! We’re still finding our groove with that too~ Integration with my 2 older dogs & overnight potty trips sometimes make for full days & nights, lol! πŸ˜€

Last night we ventured back to focus forward & added motion. I tried to use a toy at first but she wasn’t feeling the love. I kept that part in the video to show you what I did to “tease’ her for some toy play. I’m still learning toy play, if there’s something that I need to change please let me know πŸ™‚ Sunnie likes to climb things, the higher the better! That is why she’s sitting on the treadmill, lol! She does get cookies there so perhaps initiating toy play there wasn’t my best choice! Now that I’m writing this out! πŸ˜€ She may have said screw the toys, I know you give me cookies here!

Back to the Prop Game! I tried to toss cookies when she moved toward the prop as you suggested. I played around with distance too & went closer when it was too hard. I also fed her from me too on the return. Not sure what I can do to make it clearer for her (my mechanics) or are we on the right track. I do love that she immediately put her feet on it when I dropped it to the floor LOL!

Lastly, we tried BC πŸ™‚ i had to think really hard to feed her from the ‘opposite’ hand. I see why this makes so much more sense to the dog!

This weekend we are going to get slammed with a snow storm, expected is another foot or more on top of what we already have! This winter is crazy πŸ˜€ Thankful for this course & the FUN games that I can play with my lil’ coco! πŸ™‚ She’s a BUSY girl πŸ˜€

    Hi Tracy!

Thank you for the feedback πŸ™‚

She was definitely ALL IN for the food in the bowl during the forward focus game! She was great with her driving ahead and hilarious when she stole it as you tried to move her away. Ha! You can add more distance to this game – do you have good weather and can do it outside?
Last week we had a few nice days of 40’s and no snow. That all changed yesterday & today, we have over 6″ now!

We tried SSC it was fun & interesting to see without the novel object & with!

Drive to handler was fun too!!

Goat trick 1 , this took me some sessions to get my mechanics correct, in the meantime Sunnie got lots of cookies for stepping in a box! πŸ™‚

    Hi Tracy!

Thank you for the feedback! πŸ™‚ Once again I forgot to set my timer, but I think I did good with my internal clock, lol! Check out the length of the videos- woot!

Went back to FF with kibble, she was all IN!! Even got some extras LOL. I’d like to try this with a toy to see how it goes.

Prop Game 1 – my mechanics need some work, thinking on the fly & in the moment- what is she going to do & my reaction. I was ready with cookies to reward for effort toward the prop if she got stuck. I think this was a good session to show you to help me with the what if’s that may happen & how I rewarded πŸ™‚

Wing wrap – she had her head in the bowls before I was ready LOL! Video starts when I was ready, next time I will leave her starting the game in for you to see πŸ™‚ I’m not sure if I handled her “mistakes’ correctly- when to reward effort and when not to. Another great session of learning for both of us!

I did do all 3 of these this morning. We had lots of play in between & at the end of the entire “training” session. Our play was personal, food & toy! It felt good to incoporate all 3 and we both thoroughly enjoyed it as she is currently napping in her xpen!

    Hi Tracy!

Thank you for the feedback! πŸ™‚

At 1:36 she ran away for a few steps and looked forward for a bit – it was hard to know if she thought you had thrown the toy or if she heard something, but you kept thing going by throwing the toy and she got right back into it. Yay!

This is because I said Ready Ready LOL! Just something I started the first week she was home. A very little reflex opposition when she “retrieves” a toy πŸ˜€ Which brings me to the Prop Game 1. I didn’t know how to enagage with her with the food, so the session was a little bit of a hot mess & learning curve for me AND I forgot to set my timer πŸ™ so it went on about 2.5 min! I shortred the video to the last 2 min. Skipped showing you the warm up and beginings of the session. Honestly I wasn’t sure which part to edit for you πŸ™

Wing Wrap Foundation was FUN!! I think I want to build on this tonight – thoughts?

Thank you for your suggestions on how to proceed with the games. Yes! I needed to get started to figure out a flow. I have an idea & I am using a white board & paper, LOL! I feel if I write down the bullets points it sticks a little better in my head & I can just review before we start the session.

Yes! We Lori & I are about 1,600 miles apart, but still fun to share puppy shenanigans with a sibling! We had our 1st puppy class last night & one of the games the instructor showed us was hand touch! Sunnie was demo dog for that since we played with that from the pre games!

Sunnie and I attempeted forward focus this morning & at lunchtime. I am remote today so I used the extra time at lunch to play with my puppy LOL! Since my original post, food has become valuable πŸ˜€ I tried toys first for this exercise but she wasn’t interested so I used a portion of her meals. It’s small kibble. Using the bowl and tossing the kibble (some went in the bowl, some went on the floor) was a bit of a challenge for me! I have not used any treats yet, just kibble, only because some of her siblings had tunny upsets from something new. She still had fun. I ended the FF session with tossing some kibble for “Get It” After that I just wanted to play with her so I engaged with her with the hollee roller (she wanted nothing to do with it last week!) I threw in some “informal” FF because I didn’t want to force the hollee roller out of her mouth and I ran out of kibble to use as a trade. So when she did drop it, I tried FF with her. I am including both videos – with food the actual FF game & the informal, sneaking in FF while we play.

I am trying to wrap my head around on how to progress πŸ™‚ I watched the welcome video several times lol! Since we played this game 2 x’s already today, should we be done with it for today & try the next game on the list tomorrow? For example, tomorrow go to ‘Teaching Deceleration & Turn Foundations” in the morning & then try Prop Game 1 in the evening? Repeat those 2 or just go down the list And try the next 2? I know we are not trying to perfect any of the games, but I feel like if you give me feedback I should try what you suggest πŸ˜€ Probably more for me than Sunnie, so I remeber what to do! This is all new territory for me, actually training games that will have purpose down the road! It’s exciting!
Here are the 2 videos from today. Thank you Tracy! πŸ™‚

    Hi Kim!

No worries, this was kinda our ‘bonus run’, you were kind enough to take one more peak at our progress-Thank You!!

I was hoping and working hard toward this as our final homework. I certainly know this is not the end of handling for motivation. At this point I feel like you gave us alot of tools for our toolbox and now we need to continue to implement them and figure out a strategy for trials and other activities off my property!

THANK YOU Kim! πŸ™‚ I hope our paths cross in the future sometime!

PS We will work on those Blinds!! I have a feeling we’ll be doing ALOT of them! πŸ˜‰ πŸ™‚

    Hi Kim!

Here is our final runs. UKI Speedstakes at home trial. Earlier in the week I ran it in 3 sections and played after each section. I didn’t want to suddenly hit Kelsie with an 18 obstacle course after just working on short speed circles! My goal going into this training session was to run confidently, trust my dog, fix nothing and only run it twice and of course lots of Play!
Thank you Kim for all your guidance and insight these past 6 weeks 😊 This course was a huge game changer for Kelsie and myself, you helped us up our game in more ways than one 😊
