Hi Tracy! Thank you for the feedback 🙂 I’m finding our groove with selecting games to play. I video mostly every session, but don’t get to post all of them – ya know, I’m on Sunnie’s schedule, lol! We’re still finding our groove with that too~ Integration with my 2 older dogs & overnight potty trips sometimes make for full days & nights, lol! 😀

Last night we ventured back to focus forward & added motion. I tried to use a toy at first but she wasn’t feeling the love. I kept that part in the video to show you what I did to “tease’ her for some toy play. I’m still learning toy play, if there’s something that I need to change please let me know 🙂 Sunnie likes to climb things, the higher the better! That is why she’s sitting on the treadmill, lol! She does get cookies there so perhaps initiating toy play there wasn’t my best choice! Now that I’m writing this out! 😀 She may have said screw the toys, I know you give me cookies here!

Back to the Prop Game! I tried to toss cookies when she moved toward the prop as you suggested. I played around with distance too & went closer when it was too hard. I also fed her from me too on the return. Not sure what I can do to make it clearer for her (my mechanics) or are we on the right track. I do love that she immediately put her feet on it when I dropped it to the floor LOL!

Lastly, we tried BC 🙂 i had to think really hard to feed her from the ‘opposite’ hand. I see why this makes so much more sense to the dog!

This weekend we are going to get slammed with a snow storm, expected is another foot or more on top of what we already have! This winter is crazy 😀 Thankful for this course & the FUN games that I can play with my lil’ coco! 🙂 She’s a BUSY girl 😀

    Hi Tracy!

Thank you for the feedback 🙂

She was definitely ALL IN for the food in the bowl during the forward focus game! She was great with her driving ahead and hilarious when she stole it as you tried to move her away. Ha! You can add more distance to this game – do you have good weather and can do it outside?
Last week we had a few nice days of 40’s and no snow. That all changed yesterday & today, we have over 6″ now!

We tried SSC it was fun & interesting to see without the novel object & with!

Drive to handler was fun too!!

Goat trick 1 , this took me some sessions to get my mechanics correct, in the meantime Sunnie got lots of cookies for stepping in a box! 🙂

    Hi Tracy!

Thank you for the feedback! 🙂 Once again I forgot to set my timer, but I think I did good with my internal clock, lol! Check out the length of the videos- woot!

Went back to FF with kibble, she was all IN!! Even got some extras LOL. I’d like to try this with a toy to see how it goes.

Prop Game 1 – my mechanics need some work, thinking on the fly & in the moment- what is she going to do & my reaction. I was ready with cookies to reward for effort toward the prop if she got stuck. I think this was a good session to show you to help me with the what if’s that may happen & how I rewarded 🙂

Wing wrap – she had her head in the bowls before I was ready LOL! Video starts when I was ready, next time I will leave her starting the game in for you to see 🙂 I’m not sure if I handled her “mistakes’ correctly- when to reward effort and when not to. Another great session of learning for both of us!

I did do all 3 of these this morning. We had lots of play in between & at the end of the entire “training” session. Our play was personal, food & toy! It felt good to incoporate all 3 and we both thoroughly enjoyed it as she is currently napping in her xpen!

    Hi Tracy!

Thank you for the feedback! 🙂

At 1:36 she ran away for a few steps and looked forward for a bit – it was hard to know if she thought you had thrown the toy or if she heard something, but you kept thing going by throwing the toy and she got right back into it. Yay!

This is because I said Ready Ready LOL! Just something I started the first week she was home. A very little reflex opposition when she “retrieves” a toy 😀 Which brings me to the Prop Game 1. I didn’t know how to enagage with her with the food, so the session was a little bit of a hot mess & learning curve for me AND I forgot to set my timer 🙁 so it went on about 2.5 min! I shortred the video to the last 2 min. Skipped showing you the warm up and beginings of the session. Honestly I wasn’t sure which part to edit for you 🙁

Wing Wrap Foundation was FUN!! I think I want to build on this tonight – thoughts?

Thank you for your suggestions on how to proceed with the games. Yes! I needed to get started to figure out a flow. I have an idea & I am using a white board & paper, LOL! I feel if I write down the bullets points it sticks a little better in my head & I can just review before we start the session.

Yes! We Lori & I are about 1,600 miles apart, but still fun to share puppy shenanigans with a sibling! We had our 1st puppy class last night & one of the games the instructor showed us was hand touch! Sunnie was demo dog for that since we played with that from the pre games!

Sunnie and I attempeted forward focus this morning & at lunchtime. I am remote today so I used the extra time at lunch to play with my puppy LOL! Since my original post, food has become valuable 😀 I tried toys first for this exercise but she wasn’t interested so I used a portion of her meals. It’s small kibble. Using the bowl and tossing the kibble (some went in the bowl, some went on the floor) was a bit of a challenge for me! I have not used any treats yet, just kibble, only because some of her siblings had tunny upsets from something new. She still had fun. I ended the FF session with tossing some kibble for “Get It” After that I just wanted to play with her so I engaged with her with the hollee roller (she wanted nothing to do with it last week!) I threw in some “informal” FF because I didn’t want to force the hollee roller out of her mouth and I ran out of kibble to use as a trade. So when she did drop it, I tried FF with her. I am including both videos – with food the actual FF game & the informal, sneaking in FF while we play.

I am trying to wrap my head around on how to progress 🙂 I watched the welcome video several times lol! Since we played this game 2 x’s already today, should we be done with it for today & try the next game on the list tomorrow? For example, tomorrow go to ‘Teaching Deceleration & Turn Foundations” in the morning & then try Prop Game 1 in the evening? Repeat those 2 or just go down the list And try the next 2? I know we are not trying to perfect any of the games, but I feel like if you give me feedback I should try what you suggest 😀 Probably more for me than Sunnie, so I remeber what to do! This is all new territory for me, actually training games that will have purpose down the road! It’s exciting!
Here are the 2 videos from today. Thank you Tracy! 🙂

    Hi Kim!

No worries, this was kinda our ‘bonus run’, you were kind enough to take one more peak at our progress-Thank You!!

I was hoping and working hard toward this as our final homework. I certainly know this is not the end of handling for motivation. At this point I feel like you gave us alot of tools for our toolbox and now we need to continue to implement them and figure out a strategy for trials and other activities off my property!

THANK YOU Kim! 🙂 I hope our paths cross in the future sometime!

PS We will work on those Blinds!! I have a feeling we’ll be doing ALOT of them! 😉 🙂

    Hi Kim!

Here is our final runs. UKI Speedstakes at home trial. Earlier in the week I ran it in 3 sections and played after each section. I didn’t want to suddenly hit Kelsie with an 18 obstacle course after just working on short speed circles! My goal going into this training session was to run confidently, trust my dog, fix nothing and only run it twice and of course lots of Play!
Thank you Kim for all your guidance and insight these past 6 weeks 😊 This course was a huge game changer for Kelsie and myself, you helped us up our game in more ways than one 😊

    Hi Kim!

Thanks for the additional resources! I will keep an eye out for Tracy at A. U. for sure!! I checked out Kathy Keats, looks like she’s got some great stuff too!

I like to put money in the bank! Short & Sweet with lots of ++++RRRR for Miss Kelsie!!

Once the heat wave breaks I’ll submit our final video! 🙂

    Thank you!!!

    Hi Kim!

Kelsie is a beautiful jumper (IMO 😉 ) and when she’s all IN her jumping is effortless! 🙂

Just to clarify the options above for Rewarding the Line- 1) chasing me with the toy- I need to stay on the line, for example when she exits the tunnel I run on the line and have her chase me and then turn and tug with her? 2) Taking it from my hand, same as above- get on the line and have her just take it? Say I have the hollee roller, run on the line & when she grabs it let her have it? 3) Throw it ON the line 🙂 self explanatory except apparently when it’s a tunnel for me, LOL! I’m not sure why I was doing that, but thanks for pointing that out! I will be more aware of that and throw it ON the line no matter what obstacle precedes it, LOL!

I setup SS last night, but the next 3 days we are getting extreme heat, 90’s are feeling like 100- not normal for NY. I’m not sure when I’ll get to run it. There are 18 obstacles. What I’d like to do is run it first in 3 parts, rewarding after each part. Then run the entire course right out of the gate at a completely different time or day. Kim, thank you so much for this change in mindset. I wasn’t doing this back in May when we were running in the at home trials. I ran the whole dam thing! 🙁 and not just once either 🙁

I have and will always believe in Kelsie! She’s my heart <3 She totally senses when I’m not whole or if I start acting freaky (yes I was like that at the start of running her at trials- not good!) That’s when I seeked out resources for mental management- I got 2 Lanny Bassham’s cd’s and played them over & over when we were trialing. I got the chance to test myself at 2 trials before covid-19 ended that. Now thanks to you I have some additional mental tools for Kelsie in terms of running at trials. TY! 🙂

I’m hoping to get our last Hoo Rah in before this course ends!! What is the last day we can submit video? 🙂
p.s. did you get my email? it’s an important one 🙂 asking because I know we had some issues previously with sending & receiving!

    Hi Kim!

Here’s today’s class at my house. My friend built ‘her course’ off one of the speed circles I set up for Kelsie 😉

First 2 reps were at 20″ and last round was at 16″. For the final run the class ran the entire course, I opted out. Kelsie was doing great, I was getting hot & tired, so I knew I couldn’t get her 1000% plus that would have been too much for her at that point, right? Did I do right by her by dropping her to 16″ for round 3 and not running a 4th round with all the obstacles?

Couple things I’d like to share 🙂 @ 1:03 my hair tie fell out, that’s what Kelsie was distracted by, but she got right back into the game! @ about 2:31, HR run, she was losing it with that toy and was heading for the crate area. You can’t see it, but I pulled out another toy, tried to peak her interest. If I was alone I would have ran around a bit more, but I felt I couldn’t because it was ‘class’ (although I should have, its my house lol!). 2nd toy had no value to her. She wanted to get her end of run cookies by jumping in her crate, but I chose a little different path thanks to your suggestion in my previous feedback! 🙂 I didn’t want to end on Kelsie not interested in a toy (or me) so I got cookies and did some tricks before letting her go in her crate. 🙂 Then @ 3:00, my throw after the WP was so lame, I own it, lol! It was hot and I just kinda melted at that point, lol!

All in all looking back at the video, it felt like a great training session. Speed circles are where it’s at! 😀 Question- At what point do I add in more obstacles for a bigger speed circle and/or more handling? Asking because soon we are going to be on our own 🙁 and I don’t want to push too hard too soon, we’ve worked so hard to come this far! 🙂

P.S. Got my SS course today! I entered 2 so could pick one and it’s soooo nice! Falling in right where we are now! Can’t wait to share it with you! (if I submit it, after the trial closes and if I don’t submit, then sooner!)

    Thanks Kim! 🙂

    Hi Kim!

Ok! I put more toys in the training bag! I think this is something maybe we’ll practice outside of our agility session so I can really focus on just PLAY! 🙂

Tomorrow we have class here so I’ll video that and share tomorrow!

I also get my SS course tomorrow too! 🙂
