Oh, that’s a great idea. She does work in the living room and I’m trying to give her more freedom. But, she struggles to settle versus get into mischief.

Today I went to Colleen’s house to let Dot play with Roulette. This was after the play session and Colleen is filming with Rou by her side. Bonus…she peed twice in the backyard!

    Hi Tracy,

So, we tried the RC game in the hall. It’s pretty narrow and dark. Plus, Dot hasn’t trained here before. She did leave me to go run zoomies in the living room after we changed sides. But,I got her back, let her sit in the xpen for a bit and then finished. I then baby gated off the area.

We did 3 reps on the first side and she left after the 2 nd rep on the new side. So, I don’t think it was too many reps.

I think it’s the allure of freedom in the other room.

We do play “soccer” in the yard with a jolly ball and a doggy soccer ball.

And…I was immediately tossing the toy again after she brought it back and got the treat. It was from Sara Brueske’s pay to play class which worked well for Sprite. Dot understands it with a platform or much lower value items.

So, I can do the baby retrieve lecture with just tugging in my lap, correct? Dot prefers chase to tug in general. You’ve seen the two toy game where she wants the toy she wants. It’s been like this from day one.

We tried the sit stay lecture, but the cheese was frozen and either sticking to my hands or crumbling all over the ground.

Hey, guess what? Dot peed three times at the seminar. Afterward, I stopped at a friend’s to allow Dot to play with her doberman puppy since she was crated most of the day. It was Sprite’s day. They played and she peed in their backyard! Huge break through! Yahoo.

Fold it in video. She did great at first, but then the bowl siren was too much. So, some in the middle the bowl isn’t loaded. Then, it is again.

I can’t use a toy as her retrieve is worse. She is grabbing the toy, running away and avoiding me. I can’t get her back even with food now. So, I am working on her bringing a toy and dropping it in a tub. Plus, back to a platform to help her understand to pick the toy up and come to the platform.
I’m not sure where it all went wrong, but it is conflict and avoidance which needs to change before i can use toys to train.

Seminar was hard for Dot to focus. But, she did manage to pee on the grass!

Here is our lap turn and tandem turn practice. It’s too rushed and she is struggling to turn as she needs to slow down.

I’m a little worried about a toy on the ground as getting it back will be an issue. We are making progress in certain environments with lower value toys. But, she might bring it back twice and then the next rep she stands and stares at me with the toy in her mouth or she takes off running with it.

Here is her first tunnels. The bowl worked if she had a straight shot. I tried a few from angles like in the video. Mostly, she went around the outside of the tunnel and didn’t go in. If she did go in, then she couldn’t find the bowl that was right at the exit. You’ll see one of those. So, I just went back to straight on.

I’ve finally relented and ordered a treat and train from Amazon. Never used one before. Hopefully, it’ll be helpful.

I have been able to get her to pee on the neighbors lawn twice in the past few days and my front lawn once! I’m calling that a win.

We did strike a pose. I overdid the sit stay and she’s definitely not ready for toy on the ground just yet.

Yes, she goes potty on leash a lot! It isn’t 100% of the time, but a huge proportion as she was digging, eating bark, running zoomies etc rather than go potty. I recently changed out the bark for pea gravel. I think it’s helped. Yesterday I got her to pee on a neighbors lawn which is huge. I had been on a walk with Sprite and she had been crated. I took her around the corner and tried to get her to go. Nope. So, I let her have water and put her back in the crate. Then, after 15 min or so I took her out and she went on the next door lawn. This is huge! I’m concerned about the seminar as she will need to go there. I’ve no idea why she struggles so much. She was checked out for a UTI and didn’t have one. It’s a preference and she’s persistent in her wants.

Yes, I thought the Sprite game was challenging for her!

Yes, it is Dot’s first seminar and with Loretta Mueller. I am bringing my snuffle mat. Honestly, I’m not sure what we will do. I will have to bring a long line to attach the toy! Lol. We are working on the Sara Bruske games independently now in the living room with higher value toys,

Dot will NOT potty on a walk. It’s very odd behavior and a bit frustrating. I think she gets too excited by the activity and cannot relax enough to pee. I’ve tried taking her out front after rest time. She won’t go. After about 10 minutes of her pulling on the leaah and staring at the environment I give up as it feels like a battle and she needs to relax to go. The minute I take her outback she squats.

We tried hold the line. OMG…why am I not stepping? Maybe the space is too small. I’ll see if i can fix that as it seems habitual based on the oast 2 videos.

We also played treat toss and leave your sister alone!

    Hi Tracy,

Yes, I had played this game at the agility field after Sprite’s lesson. Sprite was in the car. However, equipment was out. We have an agility seminar coming up this week. 1/2 day puppy on Thursday and a full day for Sprite on Saturday. I can try it there. I’ll look to see if another facility has any CPE coming out. There’s nothing local for Sprite until maybe late March to April. I don’t see traveling with Dot at this time since she can’t be loose with Sprite and won’t potty in new environments. Hopefully she will go at the seminar this week.

We tried SSC with a treat bag.

Ok, I’ll see if I can clean up the mechanics.

Today we tried the resilience game. It’s easy inside so I tried the driveway. Someone walked by which pulled her attention. But, she was able to re engage. She really gets interested in the world around her.

She’s not a big ball girl, but I haven’t tried it much either. We’ve played a little two ball game in the kitchen. When she runs off it becomes a game of chase. She’s not interested in whet I have. Sometimes a second toy might work. Independently, I’m working on a retrieve with her toys and a platform. We aren’t up to the higher value toys yet.

We tried turn and burn today. One rep I lost grip on the toy and she ran around for about 5 minutes. She wouldn’t come for cookies or me sitting down. I ultimately went inside to get another toy. The video says she dropped it as I left. It’s a work in progress.

Here’s turn and burn. I ran Sprite after the right turn and then brought Dot back for the left turn. We are struggling with the ready dance and she’s trying to jump to snag the toy out of my hand. Also, I moved the leash the wrong direction on the left turn. Oops!

The collection sandwich is challenging to get the reward in the correct hand. Still p,eying keep away with the toy part of the time. I let her run around and just sat down. Eventually she came back. But, it’s not efficient using toy rewards when playing with me isn’t rewarding to her.

I’ll try parallel path later this week again. It’s impossible to cross behind when you are ahead! Go figure.

Sprite had an agility private lesson today. Afterwards, I let Dot run the field for about 15 minutes. She was able to do the tossed treat game for eye contact. So, I’m counting that as novel exciting. It’s not on video though. She had some nice recalls and we played some hide and seek.

Here is parallel path and some sends. On occasion she was leaping over the prop and I didn’t reward. Is that correct? She was in the right line. I’ll work on leaving with the sends. At first I thought she wasn’t turnung the correct way and I was focused on that. But, she was correct in the video. I couldn’t figure out the rear cross part. I’m so ahead of her on the parallel path. I’ll rewatch the video as I tried with Sprite in the living room and she didn’t understand it either.
