ParticipantI agree that she’s doesn’t want to come in. So, I’ll have to do more in and out. Unfortunately, she can’t really be loose in the kitchen as she constantly steals items off the table or jumps up onto the counter tops, chews the cabinets or chairs etc. Even with toys and chews out she’s not making great choices. I can try to take her for a quick walk afterwards weather permitting. She hasn’t earned many free privileges yet. I do give her a snuffle mat. Once she’s done snuffling then she grabs the mat and runs around!
We tried rocking horse 2 in the house due to rain and wet grass outdoors. The good news is she’s better able to function in the living room. Yay! I’m still struggling with getting her to send. So, the BC is too late as I’m literally in top of the cone to get her to commit.

ParticipantI think the issue is she doesn’t want to leave the yard and go back inside the house. I’ve noticed it with recalls in that direction as well. I’ll do more of in and back out. But, eventually we do need to stop and go in. Maybe afterwards I’ll let her just wander the yard if she can keep from eating hackberries.
We have more rain so Minny pinny will have to wit. I’ll try one side per session to see if that’s better.

ParticipantHave a great time!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
We tried the Minny pinny with the one bump. The other day we did two each way and she was great with just the wings. It was not filmed. Today she did well to the right, but not the left. I’ve been working on walking on my left side and I’ll start balancing out the right side as that may be part of the issue. I tried to get her to run in the yard before we started and she didn’t want to. Also, I ran out of food, left her and ran into the house to reload. She STOOD by the set up the entire time! That’s huge.
We are having an issue going back into the potty yard towards the house. She’s like…nope I don’t wanna do that.
I’m stirring the cauldron..I’ll try to be better.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I just watched last night and haven’t read the lectures yet. So, I may have the minny pinny wrong. She got very distracted and someone is mowing their lawn. She doesn’t love that noise. After the first rep she took off zooming and it took several minutes to catch her. Brought her back into the pen for a few minutes and tried again. She’s still not sure about driving around. I’m clearly using too much arm to “help” her. I didn’t use the long lube as it gets tangled too easily and she’s better overall in the yard. Far from perfect, but improved. We also did find my face and she did well with that.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
We’ve been working on just paying attention to me in the yard for the past few days. So, I gave turn and burn to the left another go. It’s unedited so you can see toy play. She left once to eat hackberries, but came back. I know…I asked for too many reps. But, it was much better than before.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
She has some plush toys in the kitchen out always. She can bring those back if I’m sitting on the floor. Otherwise, the real tugs toys don’t come back. I’ll try standing sideways to see if that helps. Maybe we can work on that and sends during our 11/13 lesson?
I brought out a scratch board today. It’ll be great if the digging can transfer to a scratch board.
I tried the threadle wrap baby version. Sit stays are a work in progress. We also did rocking horse with food. However, the food needs to be in a hand. She has trouble sending on the two sends as the food starts in the second send hand. Should I try to move it as she rounds the first cone?
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantShe definitely doesn’t bring stuff back to me. It’s more like run away and chew. The other day I out 4 chews out and she took them all. So, maybe a resource guarded as well.
It’s raining today which makes potty hard. I’ll see if I can work turn always in the living room.
Here’s more pivot, I don’t have anything lower. One side easier for her.

ParticipantI used to think I was a decent trainer…. So many errors on my part. Toys are tricky now as she only likes a few and it changes, But, I’ll see what else I can find that she may actually play and tug with. Dot likes chase better then tug so far.
I tried parallel path with the dot markers as toss targets. Plus, I decided not to use the long line as it was getting tangled or I was tripping over it. She did great even with a noise distraction. I’m using Nutra dehydrated raw which is like a topper and a plug shape.
Afterwards, I tried a few retrieves. The toy should have been in a long line, but it was tucked into my pants and a smaller toy. The first two times she brought it in the vicinity of me. Yay! Three was too much ( greedy!) and she took a lap. But, she did come back without her long line. No hackberries were harmed in the making of this video. So this is huge progress.

ParticipantDo you think I could put a tarp under the jump for the treats? Dot thinks a lotus ball is something you grab and run away with. So, I don’t think that’ll work.
We tried two things in the living room today. She’s pretty distracted there as she doesn’t get to wander it on her own. The toy was hard for her. She spent a lot of time trying to grab it rather than work. The pool noodle wouldn’t stay in place either.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantOk…the area near the fence is the only relatively free spot of the delicious hackberries. I did notice I was using my arm too much to help her. I’ll try parallel path in the yard later today. Treats that are easy to find are challenging.
We played the fold it in game in the kitchen with the new high value toy. As you move the toy further around the cone what release word are you using? Get it could mean go directly to the toy. Would I start adding the wrap cue and then say get it once she’s rounded the cone? I’m not really sure what to say as I advance this game.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I only have a sit platform, but it’s not that much shorter. Dot is really teething. She just wants to take toys and chomp on them. But, she will chase them. However, she doesn’t want to let go even if I just grip and don’t tug if she likes the toy. Is there a game to get them to leave the toy in the ground? She’s jumping up constantly trying to get the toy in my hand as we go outside. Most of the games eventually have a toy in the ground the dog needs to ignore. If you use a bile for food do you just leave it empty?
We tried a few games in the yard. The slice game went well. Then, I tried the prop in the one area of the yard with minimal hackberries. She still bypasses the prop most of the time on the parallel path. On the send, she couldn’t do it on my left side. Dot kept going behind me.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantOk, I’ll revisit the send to the cone with the bowl game. Tried to do crate training in the living room and she zoomed all over after the release. It’s hard for her to focus in there now. Previously she did ok.
Here’s baby pivot. Am I doing this correctly?
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantBy self control fold in game are you referring to the remote reinforcement game? Which game do you mean? There are tons of games.
I tried toy remote reinforcement with the new high value toy. She struggled and stole it off the table. Later, she tried to jump on the table and fell over backwards hitting her head. Stunned her. So, I had to move toy toy to the fridge top. This is HARD for her.
The jumping up is becoming a problem. Today she leapt into the chair in the kitchen. She’s going to hurt herself.
This clip is long as she didn’t want to release the toy.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHaha. TOYS are expected today. She’s still so so with tug due to teething,
We tried the head turn exercise. However, she still doesn’t have the send concept. What can I do to help her? Went back to two bowl game. What’s the best way to build I send and you go around the thing?
BTW, Sprite thought head turn gane was fun!
