Yes I will video class for sure. Yes the Farm still has sheep. They also have cats that try to sneak into the building.
My jump bump is the 4”. I will use something else to start.
We did some retrieving today. These were two new toys. Still trying to figure what type of tugs he likes. Seem most with a lot of fuzzy. Problem is he likes to eat them too 🙄

Reading over the next homework. Is Dublin solid enough on his prop that we can move on?
On the jump bump. I have the larger one from max 200. Is that ok to use?-

Thanks. I do realize that I gave him more of a challenge afterwards.Pattern games were definitely a good starting point, maybe outside the ring before going into the ring? You can also up the value of the treat or something really new and exciting in a new place. That will help with the recall too – amazing treats that he only gets in new places
I had used what I thought was a more amazing treat but I guess I was wrong 🤣. We had used the same treats the day of our start puppy test and he was totally focused and that was even a harder environment. I had done mini sessions of the pattern game in other locations and he did well. this seemed the hardest so far. I wonder if the noises from the other room and not seeing things that made the noise was harder than the huge room with tons of people like our test location. Overall it was hard since I didn’t have a crate I could put him in for break when setting up next exercise. I will move him to the van for breaks next time. We start in person class at this location Thursday night so I will try the pattern outside the ring again and get video.
I was totally thrilled with his toy play here. I wonder about practicing my recalls with a toy more too in these settings since he has shown such high value. Overall his recalls seem to be getting harder as he gets older and more distracted. Even with my mix ups he seems to still be having fun. Thanks for all your help.

Thanks. Lol yes using the cue makes me feel good. I do know I need a sitting, down stay and also standing stay for Rally. Would you use this method for teaching those too?
We passed our Star puppy test and novice trick title Thursday night so yesterday was a rest day. Today we did a rental at another facility that he has been too but hasn’t been in weeks. It was challenging. There was a nose work class going on in the next room where we normally crate. They normally don’t have anyone else in there during. Ring rentals. He was very distracted by that and also all the smells in the ring. We started with the pattern game then we did some combos and ended with a bigger tunnel. I realize that I lost him in the middle because he had to go poo. Silly human doesn’t listen to the signs. I also learned smells are more interesting than our recall. Many things to work on and this was harder for him.net.sand

All of those points make sense on the stay. We had already been working on it for star puppy class and have a cue added. We need to do a stay and go out to the end of the leash and do recall. Our test is tonight so we will change it up more for sure. Should I use cue with him? For the right side I don’t have a come to that side but will work it. He did my finish correctly when I asked. For start lines I usually do a peek a boo set up. For adding the toy do you use catch and toss back also besides the go forward?net.sand
ParticipantHi Tracy
Thanks. We tried to work on our stay some more and also the tandem turn. Not sure I did it right when we added the target.net.sand
ParticipantHi Tracy
For this how do I reward?– sometimes using your release word (“OK” or “break” for example) so he moves forward out of the stay. No click needed on those reps.

Thanks. This helps with the pattern game. We tried it today. We also did more of the stay with what you suggested and a couple of reps for the wrap. If I did the wrap better with the toy I will add in more combos. Dublin also went swimming so I included that for fun.net.sand
ParticipantHi Tracy
Thanks. He had a good time. We sat and just watched the other dogs run too and got to visit others. We tried the clicker stay steps. Hopefully I did them right to start. We also did the baby step for the combos. He had some trouble with the toy on the ground but then did better when I cleaned up what I was doing.
For the Game Predictability Part 3. I am confused on how it is different than what I was doing with the novel items.

ParticipantHi Tracy
Thanks. I will try that and let you know.
Yesterday night we did a fun run again. Brand new place he has not been too. We did a little of the pattern game on leash outside the ring area. Sorry no video of that. Then we just played some tug in the ring and toy races. All fun. I did a cookie toss but it was too big and he didn’t swallow so I still need to learn on that one.net.sand
ParticipantHi Tracy
That makes sense for the video.
Question about clickers. I have not used the clicker with him yet. I was reading the stay game. We have already done some stays but I would like to try this. Should I do something else with the clicker 1st?net.sand

The camera at the end was hilarious: it kepy doing close ups on your target hand LOL!!!!
omg I thought I cut that part out. I think what is happening is my sleeve hits the watch which is controlling the recording 🤦♀️
Today was more field retrieving practice. I need to bring a tripod out to record some. He did great. Very long retrieve of ball and multiple short retrieves of a quail. It was more frozen than last week. He brought it back and also dropped it multiple times for treats without trying to destroy it. We ended the session with nice long exploring walk in the prairie. I am not sure if you need to see retrieval homework for this week from him. He does well with the toys and the baby steps in the this weeks homework.

So far I am thinking I will stick with AKC. I never did premier with Frisco and I am half sorry I didn’t. By the time I thought about it he was older and I thought it would be hard on his body. I didn’t really even think about grand since he was my 1st agility dog. The fact that we got to PACH 4 and almost 5 was a pleasant surprise. Brighton and I have had such ups and down with his being sick then rehab for his back I have only recently thought about premier again. Brain camp exercises have helped but he is still working through his ring stress. I am thinking some of it might have been pain related now. This Saturday is his 1st trial back since April. I just want to have fun. Dublin is a very different dog from my other dogs so far but I have not decided my goals for him. MACH or PACH would be nice and if he likes it I might even think of Grand with him. Would it be hard to change my dig dig turn towards me verbal later? I started Dig dig with Brighton so it’s been almost 7 years of memory. Maybe I try to add directional wraps and keep my backside “around” for now? Then we expand as we go?Today I got the baby tunnel out. We have done a little with it and the bowls. He would go back and forth between the two bowls like a movement puzzle. This was 1st time with the treat and train. Ok I did read the lesson and do realize I went too long. He just seemed to be having fun and I goofed.
We also worked strike a pose with the toy in hand then on ground. I hope I did this right. It isn’t the best video since it zoomed in and cut my head off 😂

Thanks so much for the feedback. It totally makes sense too with the goat who likes to climb too 😂
I will work on the line up. Thanks for pointing out those reps.Today we worked on the lap turn and the serp. I had video mess up so lost some of what we did for the serp and redid a few reps.
For verbals. I am having trouble figuring out what I want to do. For wraps I have used dig dig for turning towards me and switch for RC. Around is my backside. I know I probably need more with him but I find getting new words or sounds out is harder. I had started training a tunnel threadle with Brighton but didn’t really continue it. It was seek. Would it be better to not add the verbal until I figured it out?

ParticipantHi Tracy
Had a good rental. Ended up sharing with a friend and her 8 month old wocker. We had not done rental with them before. Dublin was a little more distracted but did well. Of course he had to poo in our 1st turn doing RC. I think I need to add maybe the pattern game or something for focus at start of my session. Or let him explore prior. Either way maybe something different to start games.
Next we tried the wraps and I think having the toy helped keep his focus.
Curious to hear your thoughts. -
