ParticipantNew prop! It’s going pretty well. Mostly she wants to just go and I want to set the scene so I’m using food as much as I can to bridge the gap. She did miss
Completely a few times and I have found if I do it more as a shaping game and let her go back and hit it she seems to be able to carry on. Not sure that’s how it would normally be done. I assume a reset cookie but that seems to irritate her more instead letting her finish her job lol.Adding in a lot more play breaks which I probably should be doing. Anyway. Normally I just end the session and come back later but she wants to work so I’m trying to balance that. All trying to test what may work for her…..
And here’s our serps: maybe I shouldn’t have moved on yet. The toy on the ground is still a work in progress but she’s figuring it out.
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantTunnel was easy peasy putting the toy in. She didn’t even grab the toy. Maybe just latent learning but we are not on task for this!!
I decided now that I have two of her challenges headed in the right direction, went back to my prop- she was initially biting it. Then we moved along to parallel lines and on the right she just basically moved Over it and we talked be closer and in general more thrown stuff on left bc she prefers to be close to me on left and was impacting her right… I just put it away for a bit.
Came back to it and things were going well. Moved onto sends and the biting is back. I know this is a tight space with dogs in this video but we did it earlier in the day at FF with lots of room and zero distractions and the result was the same.
Wasn’t sure if I should tape that sucker down or ? I assume raising it wasn’t the best idea now that we are doing this type of movement?
Also she’s gone into BC work all the time get real excited , throw balls , stalk things, nip the mamma when I said ready… so also combatting her brain now too lol!
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantThanks!! I purposely put her on an easier line bc she was having such a hard time with the turn away. I went with the initial suggestion of say zoom zoom standing still then move a little to help but I think no matter what I do she’s gonna have trouble with that threadle line so the toy inside I think will work really well! I didn’t think of that for this type of situation. Duh

ParticipantNo idea why there was no volume. I thought it was just my phone when I was loading it.
Here is our tunnel threadle. I quickly realized when I switched sides
The spacing and tunnel wasn’t right for her and then she was tracking my throw ( smart dog). She is much happier with her frizzers :).Tina Reynolds
ParticipantThe good news is I figured it out! But I promise I would have done your suggestion next. It was the tossing of the toy bs placing and moving away. I used food to help her bridge the gap of impulse control with the toy down but as long as I gently place it and then move she is fine!

Participant<You can reward with a toy in your hand for coming around the barrel, to help teach her that the toy on the ground is not the cue to go to the toy on the ground :)>
Just need clarification: come around barrel and tug then move to another toy or come around the barrel and toss toy?Tina Reynolds
ParticipantI re worked the handling combo. Way easier. I did have a helper bc I didn’t want to risk errors this round since things got so dicey last time. It was like a real time replay. I noticed I’m not saying anything walking to the bowl ( tho I do remember saying go go go! The last rep but it was quiet bc you can’t hear it on the video so oops. Sigh
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantBack to this FF- what if they don’t go around the cone and go straight to the toy after a look to the cone. Also how close should they be?
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantNow my ocd is kicking in bc I’m like I trained the things in order of the things and did the things correct so why did I mess up the things I trained LOL! Or more so it’s just Julee is processing things they way she thinks it was meant to be. .. I hope.
You mentioned not getting the toy always simply games- do you have one in mind bc yes toy races always paired motion run get toy so I want her to learn that difference.
I’m always on the two fail rule but usually the almost no fail rule and I was super excited with all the cool new techniques I’m learning with those that came to teach live but I don’t think she was ready.
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantThe only thing that confuses me is how she got conflicting about getting the toy on the ground just bc:
Tug sit game and looking at toy if I drop
It you still have to wait for the break or get it cue. Toy place further ( past handler) directing in line with dog. Handler uses arm to teach dog to look at the toy and add a verbal cue – other trainers didn’t start the FF game like you did so I rolled with that. She’s still not allowed to get the toy until I say get it.Game 3- wing vs toy ( also started with seminars ) toy in front of wing where they would normally grab it after the wrap. Hand in collar and as close to wing as needed. Cue either get it for the toy OR the wing wrap. So basically a verbal discrimination. These games started early on and she thought they were dumb so maybe there’s still some of that and I did put it away until she was ready but she’s done well. So yes she seems to think getting a toy on line is the answer but should be only on permission.
Everything you said makes sense and I will work on this!
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantSo funny you should mention moving on. I was feeling good about doing just that! I’ve been sort of bouncing around class bc a lot of stuff we mastered and wanted to focus on this stuff!
Now I swear I had this issue early on but I can’t remember why what or how lol!
Preface we had lots of breaks in between these 3 attempts. I thought maybe tossing the toy after the fail would help… it didn’t. I thought oh left vs right side… nope. Then the round 2- this bothered me. It’s happened once before. I think the sheer frustration of the rewards I offered and it was hard ( I can say this now based on when I brought out the best toy I didn’t have the same response. I don’t ever want her to feel that way. She jumped up to my face. Frantic. A little nippy… help me so I don’t make her feel this way!!
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantWe are working to getting the fly to the floor. That’s the challenge as soon as it touches she goes to it but it is already better as I work more gradually to get to the floor!!!
Here’s our collection sandwich. I’m surprised I did as well as I did lol!
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantSounds good!!!
Here’s our serps. Can I tell you I feel like I have a mental block every time I stand of which way the target vs the feet go. She had a very strong touch on the left ( this is the one I use for all things) the right she was t coming in on occasion so I did pay it randomly when I thought she needed help. Main issue was what to do when it didn’t work. I didn’t plan for errors.
The toy on the floor- I’m not sure how to get there bc when I drop a toy it has always been get it if I’m between her and toy or just break when she looks ( focus forward ish) so i don’t think it’s impulse control I think it’s misunderstanding of what I’ve used in the past. Could I use a touch cue ? I mean then I’m not really teaching the impulse to ignore the toy.
Also I didn’t even look until I went to share the video that it was 7mim. It’s 3 sessions combined you can quit after the 5. I’m sorry

ParticipantSo my threadle tunnel hasn’t gone well. Realizing maybe the tunnel needed to be straighter? But she was fine when I was using the tunnel word. It’s when I changed it. If only the camera was on her face the second rep. She looked at me like I was an alien. I have tried once more since this and it wasn’t much better.
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantHere’s our tunnel :). We just put our word on it! And she had watchers today which she handled well but had to run off to eat her treat.
Brag: she stayed in her crate inside the building for a full hour. This is a first for her! We had our Christmas parties and she was so good!
