ParticipantHappy holidays to you too Tracy!

ParticipantWe’re back from Orlando! Mazi ran at the AKC Agility Invitational. It was a great trip. Firi and Saphira got to do a bit of dock diving too. We all did a lot of hiking and even got to train obedience outside with some friends. Firi and Saphira have never trained there and they both were amazing. We just got back last night and beat the snowstorm that happened today.
Puppy agility class at OTR got cancelled today due to the snow but our open ring time at TCOTC did not. The dogs are so happy to be back training. They did so well. Breaks are so good.
So we shared ring time with a lady with Shelties. She had one Sheltie in the other ring that she was training and one Sheltie in the waiting area in a crate. Both barking. Also, he has small dogs in his puppy agility class and is especially in love with a Pap and a Sheltie. So he’s obsessed with small dogs. He he got all body waggy and grunty, like boys do, when he saw this Sheltie when we first came in. But then we went to work and he was not distracted at all. I was so happy!
First we worked on Tunnel Games 1: Shaping And Threadle Foundations. He did awesome IMO.
Then I turned off the camera and moved it to another spot so we could work on wing wraps. He was doing awesome just on verbals. I just rewarded with food from each hand and he went back and forth and I worked back. Nice and confident. Then we did some Turn and Burn. He was amazing. We started with food then when I did the other direction I used a toy. It was so much fun. Went to check the camera and forgot to turn it on. Waaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!! So you don’t get to see it.

ParticipantSorry for the video dump. I recorded a few days but haven’t had time to make them into videos to post.
Here is drive ahead and pickup with your suggestion of calling him as soon as he picks it up and running away and then switching to another toy.
Decel & Turn with adding toy
Sends & Commitment with adding arousal and then using a toy
Blind Crosses with more distance and double blinds
The beginning of Stealth Self Control from week 1 – I’m not sure what I would add that would be novel so this is the first part
I think his collar grab is good.
His goat tricks 1 and 2 are good too. He’s always climbing on stuff. He lays in the other kitchen counter chair and then he’ll jump off and push the chair over and knock it over and it bangs on the ground and he doesn’t care. Also he’s done lots of wobble board in puppy classes.
Here is prop work with parallel motion – he was walking over the prop going one direction a lot so I didn’t pay him and just turned around and went the other way and paid when a foot stepped on it
Collection Sandwich
I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

ParticipantI got some quick videos in tonight before I had to leave to setup for a trial this weekend. They’re a bit rushed but not horrible.
Here is backing up. It’s been a bit since we did it. For awhile he’s was doing it a lot for a conditioning exercise from his sport vet.
And then I setup a teeter plank on 2 tables for goat tricks 3. This boy has no fear and is jumping on stuff and climbing on things and going on the dogwalk in the yard and turning around. Climbing on things to get to things supposedly put out of his reach. LOL
I hope you’re having a great time at the Open!

ParticipantThis summer has flown by! So much to train with all the sports in the few months of great weather that we have in MN. I didn’t get as much done as I would like but we got some stuff done and we had fun and learned lots. I appreciated the hot topics and lives that don’t take as long to build. And as a side effect over the summer the puppy, Firnen, learned to quit attacking every piece of equipment that I picked up to move. 🙂
To work on building more confidence/drive/speed do you think I should go back and work on MaxPup3 or any of the other classes again? I know she’s never going to be Mazi but I think she’s got a lot more in her.
Here is some work from Live 4 this morning. She gave me a lot of good work and I didn’t want to keep drilling. We didn’t finish but I think we got to a great spot. I could feel when I did things wrong and I felt like I knew how my handling contributed. She’s a very good honest girl.

ParticipantHere are the courses from Live 3. It looks like I had less exit line connection the more we went on. I had to think more on the handling and also managing her happiness levels.
Heather Sather
ParticipantWeird. Hopefully it’s better now. It’s playing for me.

ParticipantThank you!
Here is training package 4 hot topics. After I did them with Saphira I ran Mazi through them. I haven’t done agility with her since 4th of July weekend. Night and day between the dogs. She’s my comfy old pair of shoes (even though we still make lots of mistakes).

ParticipantWe did the package 3 hot topic handling course last night. I need to work on the threadle wrap more. It’s a new handling move to me. So I think I did a tandem turn again. I did a few to try to do less motion but I think I did the same. LOL She was amazing of course.
I’m hoping to have time to build out training package 4’s hot topic course today and play with that one.

ParticipantTraining package 3 Hot Topics – the first parts. We had fun with these last night.

ParticipantHaving done the earlier sequences and missing the last one worked in our favor so we could apply your feedback. 🙂

ParticipantWell it rained all day on Thursday then I was out of town until Sunday night with Mazi. Monday I was beyond exhausted from the weekend plus it rained all day. So we finally got out to do the last sequence from Live 2 today. All week is supposed to be cooler so hopefully we can get more running in. And hopefully we’re done with rain for awhile! I am loving how green things still are though. I haven’t had to water the agility field once this year.
So this is the last sequence for Sequence 2 – the full course. It was fun! I got all the layers in and was more connected although I felt a few spots where I could have done better.
Heather Sather
ParticipantHere are most of the courses from Live 2 from yesterday and today. I just now realized in Sequence 1 that I was supposed to do a backside and not just a wrap. I also missed the last Sequence 2 course. I’ll try to get that in tomorrow before I leave to go out of town for the weekend. I’ll try the first sequence again with a backside too.
