We got to set and run week 3 setup 2 tonight! It cooled off nicely this evening. We did sequence 4 and 5. Then I thought what if instead of stopping to throw the toy after tunnels if I ran with it flyball style then threw it. He liked that. And then I did one with a reward in the middle. Just playing around with things to see what he likes. He started out well and I think he just gets tired and hot from the ball throws.

It’s a bit cooler and we were able to go out later in the day today. If this looks good and we can move on then I’ll build the next course tomorrow after IGP training and then run it closer to dark. But if you think we should stay here and practice more then that is totally fine too. Or if I should break these down and reward in the middle somewhere. Also, thank you for letting the class run longer for us busy stragglers.

I got a few reps in last night before we left for training. It was HOT so we didn’t do much. 1 went well. 2 was lots of handler error. Same on 3 but I only did 1 rep since it was hot and I promised him just once.

Just came here to say that we did week 3 setup 1 sequences 1 and 2 tonight. I built it like a week ago but between stuff going on and the weather we haven’t gotten to it. Finally got out there tonight and then my GD phone corrupted the videos. Arrrgggg!!! It suddenly got hot and humid here so we waited until shortly before dark. We probably need to go back to Max Pup and do more skills and drive building or just do more agility training in general. He didn’t love sequence 1 but he seemed to really like sequence 2. I may have had better connection on 2 since I forget baby/green dogs need more support. First he was going around 2 to go into the tunnel and then he was knocking 5. So then I rewarded out there after 5 and the next rep he was good. But I think he knocked because he was looking at me. I’ll try to get video tomorrow and redo each one and if they’re quick ad easy then we’ll try some sequence 3.

I didn’t realize I was still wearing my boots until it was too late and I didn’t want to change. Luckily no falls. LOL

Busy week but we got time to train today. Gorgeous weather to boot!

Ah! That totally makes sense why the FC felt better. I had to tell myself to pivot and keep pivoting. LOL

We played with 1 jump tonight. He had fun! I just needed to support the 2nd wing more on the first rep or just send him there first so he knew it was there. Oops!

For the last blind in the previous video I was going to try to do 3 and then got scared and aborted! LOL

OMG – 2 wings was a mess. My poor dog! It’s so hard to NOT FC! It was giving me flashbacks of being in Jacque’s Turbo Pups class and we all struggled with this exercise. Dogs are fine – it’s us that overthink it.

So here it is warts and all. Lots of warts. LOL

    Hi Tracy!
We finally got out and played some blind games tonight. Poor dog is handler impaired. LOL

Weather is heading in the right direction! The ground has softened up again. Saphira is done with her laser treatments so no long trips to the sports vet twice a week. I’m caught up with MY classwork. More time for training the baby. πŸ™‚

Here is some set point with the manners minder. Next time I’ll use better treats to toss. I was going to use string cheese but forgot. He did great though.

We got things setup today and had some fun.

Here is Set Point. We need more work on the stay part. πŸ™‚

Here is Wind in Your Hair. He loves this game. No stays.

And some Smiley Face Games. Stupidly I set it up far from the shed so it only got 3 sets of tunnel bags and 2 wings tonight.

I feel like we’re at a good place now and making progress with training.

For some reason it’s not a habit for me to use all my fancy markers in agility. I did finally use it at the end.

Thanks! I’ll do the pattern game if we run into the issue again. I’ll work on doing sits everywhere too so it’s super easy for him. He probably thinks we only do them when doing IGP training. LOL

We did the moving target game at the dog club before our Bye Bye Cookie class last night. He did really well and we worked through all the steps. It also helped take the edge off so he was more content to settle on his cot during talking times in class.

Life got crazy busy. All good stuff. Except Saphira’s spay incision taking forever (leash walking torture) to heal. Sadly, I can’t do daytime open ring or agility classes anymore. And the weather is horribly cold. But we have to be at the end after this cold snap.

So finally weeks later here is some video that I took when we had open ring time. Mostly just working on getting him to move faster. I need to remember to do more tugging at new/distracting places and when he’s fresh. I’ll try to do that this weekend during down time at the agility trial while they’re course building or walking.

I have not really started a stay. We have a baby obedience class one. That is all. He has been introduced to the Cato. I can’t remember how much I did with him. He’s done cot work too. I think he would be fine with someone holding him but he’s a big strong boy. Also, loves people and face smashing. I think he’d be fine if he was focused on me.

We just had 2 nice days and now the nasty below zero stuff is coming back.

We have one more in person class and then we are done. I got a part time job so that changes all my daytime plan. It’s in the field that I want to change too so I’m super excited about it. Once I settle into the new work schedule then I’ll see what my evening schedule looks like. But I think it’s ok for him to not be in classes for awhile. I just wish we could work outside more. IN GRASS!

We have open ring tonight so I’m going to do some ‘strike a pose’ on a low jump. I’m not sure what else. Maybe some basic things with a toy to get his arousal up.

Here is some rear cross prop work we did yesterday. He’s good turning left but turning right he didn’t get.
