Glad you enjoyed the Kelsie Show, lol! We do have a pool (my husband got it for free last year, lol) but no access for the dogs. I keep putting it on the honey do list but it keeps getting pushed down the list. Yes, I have thought about it as a reward for her, but I don’t know if it will backfire- never getting her out of it, lol! Last year I took them for the first time to dock diving. The next day after work I let them out (like normal) and Kelsie made a bee line to the pool and jumped in from the ground. Me in my work clothes (skirt and blouse!) had to jump in and get her out! Had to put up an xpen in that area to deter her from jumping in again. She eyes the pool every time we go out, but I tell her no or just stay away from the pool area. She’s nuts for swimming I tell ya! 🙂
We had crazy weather tonight, hail storm followed by thunderstorms, so no practice instead we played in between storms!
Kim, which drill should we try first? I watched both videos, both look fun! If the weather holds out Tues, we’ll try one and play, lots of play!! 🙂

Hi Kim!! Yay! Improvement is our goal! On my part especially because Kelsie will respond accordingly -woot! Thank you for the encouragement & guidance!!
Video portion is just Lexie getting wet, lol! Turn your volume down, you may scare the neighbors LOL! Kelsie reaches a whole new level at dock, even coming out of the crate, she’s wild – she does this for nothing else, lol! Once she is out of the crate, all noise stops, crazy right?! 🙂

Hi Kim! Crazy weather today, so I worked on the course I had setup. I used different rewards. You have no idea how thrilled I am that Kelsie is switching between different toys and food. I (think) I’m getting the same energy and joy with both! What do you see? There was a time when toys had no use for Kelsie unless she was stealing it from Lexie, lol! First toy is a long tug with a little hollee roller at the end with a ball inside, second toy is a hollee roller and third is food, the S&C fishy ones, big pieces!
So I gotta ask, is approx 1:37 my pink panther move?! 🙂
At 3:00 Kelsie took off to start!! That’s never happened before! I obviously didn’t correct that and just went with it and she was with me for the entire run and not looking for ‘something’ after the tunnel- this is so huge!
Gotta say this training sessions left me smiling and I think with Kelsie wanting more! It was one of our better ones in terms of LOTS of play in between and short in the training part. I have to Thank You for that!! 🙂
I ran like I was running for that $100 bill (thank you for that too – that helped me get in the right mindset for that!) but it doesn’t look like it on video?! Well at least to me it doesn’t lol!
Here is our play session with some agility mixed in @ 14″! 🙂

Hi Kim! No agility practice today, instead we went to the dock! No jumping, just swims, but it’s her happy place! The sounds that comes out of my little nerd while waiting are similar to those of a hyena lol! I can share a clip if you’d like to hear it! LOL! She actually rarely barks! Only when I don’t get my shoes on fast enough to go outside, that’s it! 🙂
Tomorrow if the weather holds out, we’ll try another sequence and practice pink panther! 🙂 S&C treats came today, woot!
Thank you for your kind words, means alot to me! I just want to do right by Kelsie & have fun!!

Hi Kim! Thanks for the feedback! OK I gotta ask, what do you mean by ‘pink panther’ lol! Apparently Kelsie likes this but I’m not sure what I’m doing that you are referring to, LOL!
I’ll try not to get too hung up when Lexie intervene’s, Kelsie is still playing with me and doesn’t take off with Lexie so I suppose that’s a plus! 🙂
Thank you for your thoughts on Kelsie’s motivation, I needed to know I was on the right path (felt pretty confident that I was 🙂 ) but needed to know if this was really helping her and making an impact in her world!
Good to know to let her win at the end of our sessions! 🙂
I will run as you suggested – I like $100 bills LOL! We’ll setup Drill #1 from this week and see how that goes!
    Thank you!!

Hi Kim! Got our toys from CR yesterday so I tried them out 🙂 I want to mention that when she leaves me for shade I reengage with her there, I just don’t leave her alone (which I have done in the past). The 2nd rep was with the lotus ball tug. Figuring out how to better play with that toy 🙂
Start line setups, not sure what to do for her yet! In the 3rd rep I went back to our ‘old way’ of between my legs, you see some confusion 🙁 I feel right now if I stop the motion after we play it’s like an interruption, which I don’t want. Too much thinking on Kelsie’s part. What do you think? Rep 4 got a little hairy at the end, Lexie lost her ball thru the fence and well you see what happened. I wanted to still reward Kelsie at the end and focus on her but Lexie was getting higher from my play with Kelsie, so…. The last rep- as I was putting stuff away, Kelsie showed interest, she wanted to play, so I took her thru again. I don’t know if I should have or not. Knowing when to stop!
Going further on that topic, Kelsie puts forth alot of emotion & force when we tug as you can see, but I feel as soon as we add agility in the picture it’s not all there, or is it? Do you think she likes playing with me, I mean the agility part and will that “fierceness” ever transfer over to agility? I can’t believe I’m asking this, but I feel safe here in doing so 🙂 no judgement here and yes the thought has crossed my mind but never said it out loud! 🙂
How do end your play sessions? Basically now, I just take the tug & put it away and then we just hang out in the yard or I switched dogs out to train Lexie. Sometimes I feel like Kelsie gives me that look like “oh that’s it, hmmmm” Maybe I’m reading into more than I should but I don’t want Kelsie to be disappointed when we just had a fabulous play time! I have a snuffle mat, would that be a good end of the game thing to do?
Here’s our fun session at 14″ how do you think she looks? Thoughts on where we should go from here? Thank you! 🙂

Hi Kim! Thanks for the feedback! More lotus balls?! Kelsie sezs bring it on, lol! Last night I ordered from Clean Run the lotus ball fleece tug and 2 other tugs that have squeaky balls attached. Question on using more lotus balls, exactly how? 🙂 are you suggesting this so I don’t have to take the time to load the one she runs to? And would I leave the empty there and just run the other way (or pick up the sequence where we left of) when she’s done? Won’t she target (or drive to it) it if I leave the empty on the ground? Ok, good to know I will let her take obstacles! Yeah I know I was a bit late 🙁 Do you think she thinks she was wrong when I’m late? She slows down right? Kelsie is actually very good at catching cookies, lol! I just sucked at tossing them to her in the video, lol! But if she misses regardless of the reason why I will pick it up, do I toss it again or we move to another game and/or the course? I setup Drill 2 from this weeks lesson to try tomorrow night. I wanted to give her a break so we headed to the trail instead 🙂 Thanks again Kim!

Hi Kim! I found the FB page for the toys – thanks! 🙂 Tonight we ran Drill 1 from last week. I only used food on purpose so you can critique me on that aspect of the exercise as well. 🙂 I used string cheese, cut the pieces fairly large so she could find them easily. We played before we started the sequence which I was out of range for 🙁 Once we got closer she was grabbing jumps before we even started- what should I do in that case? Reward her with food or just verbally? Go with it and run with her? I know I can’t be silent, she’ll think she did something wrong 🙁 First couple reps I feel I should have played a bit more with her after the run- do you agree? In a way when I use a tug, I feel we are playing longer than when I toss cookies. However, the next reps I think I engaged with her longer?! I guess what I am asking was my play ‘enough’ for her or can I do better? 🙂 Something I’ve noticed when I use food, she’s sniffing a whole lot more, making sure she didn’t miss any! This goes on after we are all done, she scans the area where we were- is this Ok? Playing around with different starts, in no particular order, just whatever felt right at the time 🙂 I felt her energy was good and she looks happy! BTW, these jumps are at 12″ first time tonight. Question- is IYC start line an option for Kelsie? Her impulse control is well quite controlled, she’ll do what it takes to get the cookies, lol! So I wasn’t sure if we should even go there with her.

This weeks lectures were fabulous, so much good, so much reminding! Of course I was in tears by the end of Pepper’s story. I just want to give that girl a hug and a shout out for educating her mom so she can help other teams achieve & appreciate the best that they can be for each other! 🙂

I believe in Kelsie, I love her too much to ‘give up’ that wouldn’t be fair to her. I know she will never be like Lexie (the one you hear singing lol) and that’s ok, but I do believe she’s got more to let loose! I just need to develop the right ‘games’ for her, make it worth her while. You even see it and you’ve never met her! That give me inspiration and determination, not matter how long it takes 🙂

Here’s is our session from tonight, I kept it short (thank you for that reminder too!) and sweet! Where should we go from here? Thanks Kim!

Hi Kim! No video tonight (too hot so we walked on the shady trail instead 🙂 ) I watched your video instead-Thank you for the visual and the link for the treats! I like to reward Kelsie with small treats so I can give her more and she thinks it’s a jackpot, but just thinking about your video, treating with movement is probably better with the bigger treats as you suggested. It’s not like I’m going to go back and forth 10x’s and the bigger ones are better for throwing and finding in the grass for sure. Speaking from experience 🙂 I setup Drill 1 from last week, we’ll give that a whirl tomorrow night.
    Ordered Meal Mixers! 🙂
I haven’t received a response from the email I sent regarding the toy 🙁 I hope I didn’t miss it!

Hi Kim! Tonight I did couple sessions. In between breaks I actually got a chance to review the first sets we did noticing a few things that needed improvement! I don’t move enough after the run when I use food. Old habit of just being a food dispenser and not moving around as much as I should. A couple times the lotus ball opened up before Kelsie got there so that became a scavenger hunt! When I have a toy I feel I move around more. What can I do to keep myself moving? Tricks that require movement?! The first reps I used a tug that I could drag around. In this segment I’m using a ball and a squeaky toy she likes. Using a toy in training is all new and I’m thrilled she’s responsive to it. I hope this transfers over off my property as well – trials & class (when we go back). Prior to the summer and even at our last trial in March, it was all about the cookies and ignored the toys! I chose Drill #2 because it was simple and I could put slight handling in since it was really hot and I didn’t want to demotivate her. I thought she hung in pretty well. We took frequent A/C breaks, lol! Tomorrow I’ll put in some more handling- if you think we should! I had the MM out to use but didn’t get to use it, quality over quantity for Kelsie so we’ll try another time! 🙂 Honestly, I’m not sure yet what Kelsie drives the hardest for. Lotus ball yes when it stays intact, lol! Regarding her motivation so far? To make the comparison from her SS video I posted to the speed circles- I feel it’s night and day & I really mean I feel it, she’s running happily and I’m not pulling it out of her 🙂 Of course she’s running a lower height as well, but something is different! Here’s our fun for tonight 🙂 when you see her disappear, she’s going to the shade, sometimes you’ll see I got her back in view otherwise we ended up going the other direction. Just wanted you to know I remained engaged with her even tho’ you can’t see us! https://youtu.be/p2Igggh5_gg

Hi Kim! Tonight was speed circle work with a tug and the lotus ball placed & thrown while playing opposition game! First couple reps are with the toy. I forgot to have the second toy nearby, so when you see Kelsie leave she was headed where the other toy was so I played there -out of video range. Next rep was with the lotus ball placed then thrown and then another round of placed and thrown. We ended the session with LBG (and a cameo from Lexie, the one screaming in the background, sorry!). Should we keep the LBG in our practice sessions? Thoughts on what you see here between toy, lotus ball place or thrown. Should we continue circle work without handling and what should I use- toy or lotus ball (thrown or placed) I have a MM too, not sure if you want me to use that as well. Thank you! https://youtu.be/sMZsi3ggDPo

Hi Kim! Thanks for the feedback! I will have another toy nearby in the event I need to reengage with her. A couple questions before we practice tomorrow. Should we continue to practice the opposition game? Speed circle with the lotus- do you want me to throw it or have it already placed at the end? We will practice LBG with more distance too! Yes, Kelsie LOVES her lotus ball- anything that contains food really LOL! Thanks! 🙂

Hi Kim! I’m not sure what happened to the LBG segment, editing video in the early morning before work is not very conducive, lol! Here is tonight’s presentation 🙂 First 2 toys, took me a little bit to figure out how to do this, lol! Am I doing it correctly? Next we did circle work, how did we do?! At 2:39 Kelsie left the session for shade. She is not like my other lab who will go until I say stop! I did LBG last because as you saw in the previous video- the sniffing that was because I did LBG before that. I used a lotus ball tonight- I think that’s a great idea, Kelsie sniffs enough as it is & if she knows food was there or could be there, she’s going to investigate! Thank you! https://youtu.be/5LmhQhil1YE
