ParticipantOh…I’ll play with the blue green screen then. Thank you!
Ok, so backside S curve aka German or back to a serp. I need to shift my gaze and the dog side arm as she’s approaching the wing? I know I’m watching to see if she passes by the jump. But, she did produce a nice tight turn!
Also, the threadle wrap I need to be lateral but PAST the jump plane? No wonder she’s struggling. It’s a tight turn and I thought I needed to still be closer to the front side of the jump and have her pass me.
Hmmm…what’s the name of the jump class? I’m sure I’ve taken just about everything. But, Sprite needs help jumping up off her rear to elevate over a jump. She’d rather take off flat. I’d love to revisit that class.
It’s so fun to nail the first run. Yay. Did I earn an adult beverage? I’m pretty sure the answer is yes. Lol.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Thanks. Gemma still wants to play at 10! It’s hard to believe that Sprite will be faster, but Gemma is slowing down. However, I feel less frenetic as Sprite doesn’t bark.
Here is RYG challenge one and two. My eyes are still not happy with contacts and I’m trying to adjust to running in glasses. They better get over themselves soon! I left the bars at 16 for Sprite. Both of these courses had skills were aren’t fluent at. Course one the RC turn away and backside slice. Course two the dreaded threadle wrap.
I know, I know. Run through the end. Clearly that’s a bad habit!
We did course one twice. She got it the frustration time, but I wanted to see if I could improve the backside slice.
Course teo we struggled with the threadle wrap in ore run training. I decided yo just run the course and she got it! I was tempted to run it twice, but stopped myself. I wanted her to sleep on success. Plus, it was heating up and it takes awhile to get everything down. Both dogs were in the car under a tree. But…still. Also, I noticed she clipped the wing on the backside into the tunnel. She tends to drop bars on that skill. How to I get her to target the bar and not the wing? Do I need to do something different. I suspect the bar would have dropped at 20. However, I only noticed it on the video.
I haven’t figured out how to do overlays. On the iPad I only have side by side, Picture in Picture or some blue or green screen option. Do you have directions?

ParticipantOops. That’s what happens in low light. Maybe Tracy can fix it.

ParticipantHey Tracy,
I’m showing Gemma’s three runs. I was able to get the threadle wrap, but then I lost my spatial orientation and almost tripped over the jump. Oops!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I was able to build the course from the lives today. However, it’s close to 90 degrees. We ran all three, but Sprite was hot for the last sequence. I still cannot get a threadle wrap with her. I was able to do it with Gemma. The links are long with all of the walk throughs. I’m posting 3 links. I’ll keep working on that part. I didn’t see some of her lines since we aren’t walking them and got a few off course choices.

ParticipantWe played around with turns on one jump. This was before your recent feedback. I’ll work on shirting my eyes to landing for the German turn.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHmmm. It’s a theme. Stop moving and get my shoulders turned. You’ll say the same for this which was filmed yesterday. But, she sometimes turned different from what I expected, so my cues aren’t clear.
I guess I forgot about tunnel breaks since we’ve been going to the straight jump on the prior course.
Second rep pop out 3. I thought I was trying for tandem turn, but shoulder towards the jump and she did a lovely right slice. It was a bit of a threadle to that jump the way I set the course.
Third rep. I’ve no idea why she turned right so tight at 6. My plan was left. Obviously, I didn’t execute that. But, it was a lovely turn!
We need work on German turns. Not quite ready for prime time and then I can’t get out of dodge.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I managed to film our sessions today. This is the agility pop outs one and two. I filmed 3 and 4 too after a break. But, she was tired. I’ll post those next.
I’m still not getting the threadle wrap or tandem turn away turns. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, but she’s locked on the jump and not looking at me or my hands reliably. It’s a similar skill for me so I’m sure I’m doing something wrong.

ParticipantArgggg. I’m having a bad tech day. I built sequence one pop out of the agility course since it was just jumps.
First rep bought me the backside of 3. Plan was left turn/FC 3 start DOR. Second rep I got it but had to pull her to get the correct line to 3. Ultimately I figured out to set her further to the right one the start jump so she us jumping closer to the left wing. I did not see the backside on her line. Sprite did!
Then we did the RC wrap. First rep blind 2-3 to a Jaakko turn. Then, we worked the tandem RC wrap. She did some decent turns.
But..you’ll have to take my word for it. When I went to edit I was staring at the barn, fence and concrete. Somehow when I turned to iPad on I must have flipped the camera. I was NOT happy.
I’ll see if I can get to the park tomorrow.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
My friend built the course for me at the training yard yesterday for me to use today. Yay! However, the way she built it didn’t leave a great camera angle that wasn’t directly into the sun. So, sorry it’s hard to see.
A few tunnel send disconnections bought me a serp jump! I mostly moved on so this is all that we did. She was getting tired towards the end. On the last exercise we never got the right turn out of the tunnel. You probably can’t see it but she exited left and turned around and went right back in. Tried the blind once. Scary! She went behind me and didn’t take the tunnel. But, the rear cross got left turns and re entry.
Also, first chiro visit today and she had a rib out and a few decent adjustments. But, she was really good and allowed the manipulation. That might explain why her left turns deteriorated. Poor baby.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
On the zig zag grid. She was perfect the first rep. But, if I softened the angle she added a check stride. So, I guess I’ll try again when it’s cooler and barely move it.
I had the yard today, but it was already 86 at 10 am. So, I just put 4 jumps out. Hauling the tunnel by myself isn’t easy in this heat. We broke it down and she did much better. Bars at 16 because It’s hot! Plus, Gemma ran first and I didn’t bother to change them.
Interesting about lefty versus righty. I’ve just started doing multi wraps with Sprite to help her turns. At 10 in, she is definitely better turning left. We worked right a little more. Then, I did one session with the bar at 16 and right looked better than left. So, who knows which is her preferred side!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
We tried the live sequences, but didn’t get very far. It’s VERY hot here and threadles are not easy for me. She mostly remembered the slice threadle, but we couldn’t get either the threadle wrap or the tandem turn. I only have the yard for an hour and building takes up most of that time. I have to shove the toy in my pocket too as it was dangling and distracting. Tried food too. We got through the first sequence, but I didn’t get the threadle wrap or tandem turn and I couldn’t keep trying due to the heat. I can probably put just the three jumps up in my yard to see if we can work on it more. I’ll have to revisit the mechanics as she clearly has no idea what I want.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Thanks for adding the coordinates! It helps a lot.
So, I looked at my video and I’m running more parallel to the bar rather than perpendicular for the tandem turn. I can see how Sprite would be confused about that. I’ll work on running at the bar to present the line better. This sequence also had a double lead change. They exit the tunnel on a left lead, have to switch to a right lead to get to the jump and then back to a left lead to turn left and present jump 6. That’s a lot of fast footwork.
I’ll dig out the zigzag exercises. That’s a hard task for Sprite to keep changing leads. Is there another exercise to help with that? She is organizing herself better overall. Yay!
I’ve also pulled one way to push the other way in rear crosses and I’m trying to be better about not doing that.
It’s doubtful I’ll get back to the park before Friday. So, I’ll see what the lives bring Thursday or try the agility pop outs at the park. There were 4 courses and that’s too many so one training session. So, I’d have to chose two.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Would it be possible to put the course measurements on the pop outs? It isn’t exactly the same as the big courses as best I can tell. But, I’m coarse builder challenged.
We did the jumping pop outs that did not include weaves. Right as I started to set the course the lawn crew showed up. Luckily, I only had the long line out and had just started to build. They are very nice and finished quickly, but it was hotter when we started and Gemma ran first.
I’m still struggling with the RC wrap tandem turn. I liked the throw back a lot better here! The bars towards the end were fatigue and I just did the one extra run that she rocked and then stopped. It’ll start getting hot here soon which makes things more challenging. She does sometimes drop bars on backsides in general.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantThanks Tracy,
She got cookies when I screwed up the first rep.
I didn’t think to open the FFC videos looking for the throw backs. Thanks for posting them. It makes more sense when you are already rotated to use the throw back. I was confused about getting there, but I think it makes sense now. I’m hoping to get to the park tomorrow for the mini courses. Can’t wait for Thursday!
