ParticipantAll signed up! Can’t do the zoom classes yet….but, the plan is lots of free time starting in May. Hello retirement!
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantWhy is the lawn guy so late today? I know if I set up anything he will show up! The wings were touching in the MP,so I’ll separate them a bit. I can try the serp/threadle indoors again, but there isn’t much room. Also, Sprite is not understanding to release from her sit on “look” or “back.” If I always toss a cookie first for the threadle do you think that antecedent arrangement outweighs the verbal? Just curious.
We trues wing transfer and she kept going regardless of the distance. I added the verbals, but realized you didn’t in the video. Hope that’s ok?

ParticipantI have also leaned away from crate games. It created a working space for Gemma rather than a place to chill out. She whines incessantly waiting to do something and it’s difficult.
Sprite’s only real requirement is wait be released and ideally orient to me when you come out. But, I’d love anything that can help keep them calm while other dogs work and have fun. That’s a hard concept for me to teach.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Is there an easier way to get to the latest post? Both my iPhone and iPad are having issues with the page loading and it kicks me off. There is a lot of content to load.
We did this yesterday before I saw your comments. But, I do notice on videos that she’s not lined up. I know I need to work on that, but I did try to be better in this video. She still seems to turn left better to me. Interesting that you thought right was better yesterday.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Yes, that’s why I used the LSM, but I wanted to be sure.
Tried the minny pinny. Jumps were backwards at first. Oops! She’s working her footwork out. I’ll try adding verbals the next session. Interesting how much mud is getting on her dew claws. First dog to have them.

ParticipantDo you know how many times I’ve been told about the decel slow down then turn? Training the hooman is hard! Yes, I realized afterwards that I needed to get her back to my side for the tunnel. And, less swoopy threadle arm next time.
We did porridge heating. Gemma needs her porridge frozen for days. Sprite will need it heated for sure. She doesn’t have a ton of tricks. Back up isn’t solid yet. Need to work on high five. Anyway, this looked too rushed on video. What do you think? And, no generic release word from the sit? You were using a LSM I think in your video.
BTW, went to post and found an empty forum. Scared me and then I realized it’s for the next call in the sequence.

ParticipantHi Tracy,
I’ll play around more with the retrieve. I don’t think her toy LSM are that strong yet. Plus, she wasn’t grabbing and holding toys and spit them out a lot. So, I haven’t trained a solid out. Grabbing and holding was hard for her.
Foot work. Yep I totally spin in place. I’ve tried to fix it and if I walk a sequence I can do it correctly. But, when I run I tend to not slow down enough first and need the back foot to come forward for balance. I’ll see if I can do it without her.
Yesterday I went to my friends agility field. I can’t move tunnel bags yet. Sprite was way too excited and had trouble focusing. Running around appealed to her more. We did two tunnel sessions and I used my friends TNT. Took her a bit to figure it out. I can see my loops were sloppy. But she likes the tunnel!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
Great idea to rotate the jump for the backside work. I’ll dig out the TNT. Pet tutor is harder as I need to use my phone to trigger it. I don’t have a separate remote. But, I’ve never used the TNT. So, she needs to see and hear it.
On the reverse retrieve I have a question about two toys. I was running out of room and had slowed down. But, if I use a second toy she will spit the first one early. It took a long time to get her to bring it back to me. So, I’m not sure early drops are ideal.
Here is RS and post turns. I lost connection a few times. But, I’m late in my turns. Probably need more space. Right is harder for her, but she did great! I still bring my feet together before turning. Old habits are hard to break!

ParticipantHi Tracy,
A combo video. I went to a toy AND cones for rocking horse. We need a little work on ignoring the toy in the hand. Turns much wider especially to the right. She struggle with sideways send and backwards sends. But, mostly I think she was watching the toy in my hand. First time with that and the cones.
I’m not sure what to do with the backside. She’s holding the line fine, but still not understanding to come in. I only seem to get that by turning 180 and that won’t create a slice or an ultimate German turn. Other ideas?
We also did reverse retrieve. I just her normal release followed by get it since we had so much trouble before with her understanding get it is a release. I did one too many. Greedy!
My yard is mud. Grass seems gone unfortunately.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHi Tracy,
I have two cones so I can try that. I’ll try to stay more connected on exits. Additionally, I’ll watch the video again. But, with a toy I think you were dragging it on the ground. Do I want to drop it on her line or have her grab it from my hand? The line makes more sense to me. I’ll need to figure out which marker to use. That’s the issue with LSM words!
So, this if from the head turn lecture. Sorry that I’m headless! This would turn into my backside wrap cue eventually I think. Correct?
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHi Tracy,
Here’s our rocking horse video. She did pretty well paying attention especially since the ever present barking JRT was out.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantI keep losing my response. I’ll type more later on iPad. Twice this app on the phone wiped out my typing

ParticipantHey Tracy,
We tried the advanced reverse retrieve AND I closed the crate door. Sprite was not understanding that “get it” was a release from the sit. So, she was slow and confused. I had to say “get it” more than once or “get it, ok” etc.
I don’t think she had issues with the counter movement as much as not understanding when to go.
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantHmm, sometimes I happy click, but I thought I got the head turn. We will try again. I’m hopeful I can get a tunnel out this weekend.
Here is the entire session of reverse retrieve tonight. Not much room to run and I hit the crate door. Luckily, I didn’t trip myself!
Ginger McMullen
ParticipantLol, placement you reward. Like always. I’ll play around with that.
So, I repeated the serp with the bowl in a better position. I think?? She’s getting the hang of it. We also dis some more turns since I can bend a little better.
Plus, we signed up for round two starting in March! Unfortunately, I’m not home to do the live presentations yet. Might change in May which could open up the possibility for classes starting after May.
