ParticipantCool!
Here’s are threadle wraps. Julee turns really well so just a matter of mechanics as I walk sideways. lol.
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantOk I remember asking for some hand touches and I got bites lol.
She had a nice break. Basically Lindsey and I went back and forth. Since only Lindsey was there it was harder for me and Julee bc Lindsey is like a Border collie and she didn’t have anyone to distract her.
So I wanted to get Julee barrels
Done and well… I’ll leave you video one and then we took a break and I came back with a new plan. So I’ll leave it all for you to help me weed through all of it because it was “the best worst training ever”.Ps- I think I need to start with wraps to the left first bc I don’t do them enough as it is and if I start with the easier side she just wants to do that side and its causing the same errors.

ParticipantI recently put together a small group for julee and Chata. Bc I only train alone and no classes it has been a huge detriment to them.
I wanted to do my fold in games with the recap but , honestly julee massive love for humans I thought maybe just tugging with some hand touches dispersed would be easier. I did break out pattern games to regulate a bit with the tugging bc she tugged wildly since I think it was so hard to focus. Is that reasonable?Tina Reynolds
ParticipantOur first session didn’t get recorded but that’s ok because this one was even better! I’ve been rotating julee and Chata so they have good rest breaks.
You’ll see/hear me discuss the nip at my shirt before we started. Clearly this game has become an exciting one lol! I did add a jump on the go. This isn’t new to her.
She’s really trying to sort out the “get it” cue. This video doesn’t show it but our first round when I yelled go and the. Get it- she looked around for her cookie… no idea how this happened. But makes sort of sense since we have been working impulse on toys she may just be confused. She got over it fast 🙂
Sniffy moments were dropped treats. Had the worst crumbly ones to manage the resets.
Most proud is this is a high value toy and she’s not running off!!!
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantThanks!
I really don’t do much of the before. And only when it’s just her and I and no people there. I do more of the go for a run when we are done.
Generally I haven’t seen any issues with the getting back to work or just not re engaging so I’ll assume for now it’s helping and I’ll keep watching!

ParticipantQuestion on the decompression and completing the stress cycle.
1: how do we know when they are done if we send off for a run? With Chata I wait until she comes to me bc I may jump the gun and then I accidentally interrupted it.
2- how do I know if I’m cuing go for a run as a take a moment or it’s just considered a “play break/training break”And then my brain swirls …I’ve been lucky with julee. she doesn’t necessarily take her moments – occasionally we get that jumping up: is that frustration for her making a mistake ( and me trying to adjust but she still knows it’s wrong answer) or her taking a moment? I have noted her once in a while leave to sniff especially after too many cookie toss so I see that as a taking a moment yes?
Also For Julee: I started teaching the on off switch for obedience. Wasn’t sure how felt about it but it’s something kamal teaches to help in the venue. I do think Julee knows it bc when we go to train she tootles around until I say ready steady and then it is game on. She’s alert ready and focused. When we are done training: I don’t know if I’m cuing what you consider the moment: I use her “all done” cue which means she can go sniff, run about, grab a frisbee, go for a run etc but we are done training. I may go back to training after a few minutes but she either has a crate break a cookie break or a petting break ( she absolutely loves to be touched. Weird Border collie )

ParticipantI’m Allie worried about the ready dance: that causes her to nip my shirt. Which is why I went to cookie ….
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantNew prop! It’s going pretty well. Mostly she wants to just go and I want to set the scene so I’m using food as much as I can to bridge the gap. She did miss
Completely a few times and I have found if I do it more as a shaping game and let her go back and hit it she seems to be able to carry on. Not sure that’s how it would normally be done. I assume a reset cookie but that seems to irritate her more instead letting her finish her job lol.Adding in a lot more play breaks which I probably should be doing. Anyway. Normally I just end the session and come back later but she wants to work so I’m trying to balance that. All trying to test what may work for her…..
And here’s our serps: maybe I shouldn’t have moved on yet. The toy on the ground is still a work in progress but she’s figuring it out.
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantTunnel was easy peasy putting the toy in. She didn’t even grab the toy. Maybe just latent learning but we are not on task for this!!
I decided now that I have two of her challenges headed in the right direction, went back to my prop- she was initially biting it. Then we moved along to parallel lines and on the right she just basically moved Over it and we talked be closer and in general more thrown stuff on left bc she prefers to be close to me on left and was impacting her right… I just put it away for a bit.
Came back to it and things were going well. Moved onto sends and the biting is back. I know this is a tight space with dogs in this video but we did it earlier in the day at FF with lots of room and zero distractions and the result was the same.
Wasn’t sure if I should tape that sucker down or ? I assume raising it wasn’t the best idea now that we are doing this type of movement?
Also she’s gone into BC work all the time get real excited , throw balls , stalk things, nip the mamma when I said ready… so also combatting her brain now too lol!
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantThanks!! I purposely put her on an easier line bc she was having such a hard time with the turn away. I went with the initial suggestion of say zoom zoom standing still then move a little to help but I think no matter what I do she’s gonna have trouble with that threadle line so the toy inside I think will work really well! I didn’t think of that for this type of situation. Duh
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantNo idea why there was no volume. I thought it was just my phone when I was loading it.
Here is our tunnel threadle. I quickly realized when I switched sides
The spacing and tunnel wasn’t right for her and then she was tracking my throw ( smart dog). She is much happier with her frizzers :).Tina Reynolds
ParticipantThe good news is I figured it out! But I promise I would have done your suggestion next. It was the tossing of the toy bs placing and moving away. I used food to help her bridge the gap of impulse control with the toy down but as long as I gently place it and then move she is fine!
Tina Reynolds
Participant<You can reward with a toy in your hand for coming around the barrel, to help teach her that the toy on the ground is not the cue to go to the toy on the ground :)>
Just need clarification: come around barrel and tug then move to another toy or come around the barrel and toss toy?Tina Reynolds
ParticipantI re worked the handling combo. Way easier. I did have a helper bc I didn’t want to risk errors this round since things got so dicey last time. It was like a real time replay. I noticed I’m not saying anything walking to the bowl ( tho I do remember saying go go go! The last rep but it was quiet bc you can’t hear it on the video so oops. Sigh
Tina Reynolds
ParticipantBack to this FF- what if they don’t go around the cone and go straight to the toy after a look to the cone. Also how close should they be?
