    Hi Tracy,

I’m not sure what tonight’s format is. Maybe we can talk about the RTW? Basically it’s can you take food, can you respond appropriately to your food markers. She should come back and offer eye contact. Then, can you do simple behavior. If so, more complex behavior. She can often do this on the side lines. But, then we have to wait or go through the gate to the jump. That’s when I lose her. Also, when I use the tossed food marker cue I can gauge how long it takes her to come back and offer eye contact. It’s almost always immediate with a get food from my hand marker. But, if she needs to get the food off the floor then she’ll often sniff or more likely start looking around at the environment. She’s also sometimes grabbing grass as we walk towards the first jump.

Thanks Tracy! As always…my timing and decel more. It doesn’t look like I ever stop moving. So, should it be decel and STOP motion until she catches up to me then rotate? I’m not sure why I have so much trouble with this.

Also, on the reverse wrap. If she starts DOL then it’s my RIGHT hand pointing to the take off spot? I’ve never heard that before. I’ve seen the right hand over the bar.

Do you think Sprite needs a brake arm on all 180 turns at the moment? The soft turns seem to be troublesome for us.

Haha…I forgot the verbal look, look, look on that one rep and said to myself threadle cue. Threadle just came out of my mouth.

What are the fall plans for classes??

    Thanks again!

So…here’s agility pop out one and two. I could not get the BC in between 7-8 and had to rear with both dogs. Also, if I was too far lateral Sprite wouldn’t take the first jump. More homework.

On the second sequence she was falling on landing of 3. I’m not sure you can tell due to the shadows.

Thanks so much for another great class! It’s always a pleasure to work with you. Maybe you’ll come back to CA in person someday.

Ah…yes…the reverse wrap makes more sense to me. But, I didn’t think of that. Sprite has a little blister on her pad so I’m not sure when it’ll be healed.

What us our last day to post?

    Hi Tracy,
I’m hoping to get one more course in before this class is over. I’m looking at the pop outs and I’m not sure what to do 2-3. Would you lead out and call to the threadle, then spin to get the turn and instantly threadle then FC?

I don’t know how to insert a photo. It’s agility pop out 2 and goes through 13 with a 5 times through that second jump. Your hints just say threadle 1-2 and threadle 2-3: but it’s a pretty sharp turn after 2 to 3 and Sprite needs another cue in there. So many turns hurt my brain!

I found those exercises really hard. There were not any spots that were easy. It was managing one turning cue after another. I’m still not often sure what my running line should be. Plus, Sprite was pulling off if jumps which is new. It was hot…or she’s paying more attention. It’s hard to say. She also partially tore a pad. I’m assuming it was the bunched up tunnel. Poor baby.

    Hey Tracy,

I set the live sequences up at the park. The tunnel wasn’t behaving. Mine is 20ft and the course called for 15. It kept getting bunched up and Sprite got caught in it once. In the future should I just spread it out and let the jump distances be altered slightly? Also, I forgot her tug toy. Luckily, I had an udder in the car, but it didn’t last long. Back up simple tug that life’s in the car to the rescue.

We struggled with these. Plus, it was about 85 degrees and Sprite was getting tired. I couldn’t layer the jump in sequence 3. Sprite needed more support to go out to jump three.

    Hi Tracy,

Yep…I can see my head forward on both videos coming to the backside with that inviting yellow tunnel right on the line. I should have been connected back to her. You are probably right that rep 2 she knew the course and rep 1 was responding to my lack of proper cue.

I’m confused about my feet for the threadle slice comment. I tried to do the threadle to a spin. So, where exactly should my feet be as I spin? I have to turn into her which puts them towards the tunnel.

I didn’t think about spinning 6 in sequence two. I felt like I could sacrifice that turn to be sure I could handle the threadle wrap after the tunnel. If I spun wouldn’t I be too far behind? It was too hot to do it again. Plus, threadle wraos are hard for me and I didn’t want to test teo in a row just yet at 95 degrees!

    Hi Tracy,

We are back on a hot streak so it’s hard to build at the park as the dogs need to stay in the car. Luckily, my agility instructor built a course for this week that could be tweaked. The spacing is not ideal and I couldn’t move the small yellow tunnel. Gemma taught me to block it. 🙂

Sprite clearly thought about it even though the wing blocked it. It’s 95 degrees out, so we didn’t do too much. She remembered the switch!

    Hi Tracy,

At the park at 7:30 am. I forgot my wide angle lens. The course I show walking is the one that made the most sense to me. On course 3 turning right over 4 seemed like it would set a better line to 5 and 6. She’s still jumping long on these 180 turns. What else do I need to do? I did turn her left over 4 and it worked out. But, it wouldn’t have been my first choice.

Pop out 4 I only did 4 two different ways. I am not great at two threadles in a row even though I think I could get 1-2 easily on release. But, then I wasn’t sure what to do at three. If I wanted to wrap to the inside would it be a double lap turn? You’ll see I chose the back side push to a wrap. But, I did try turning her both directions over 4. I was too chicken to try a BC between 5-6. So, I did the threadle wrap for her. It went better than expected. Back side to serp still a work in progress.

    Hi Tracy,

I might be able to go back to the park Thur or Fri. Should I try these again or the even harder pop outs 3 and 4?

So, one sequence one the layer of jump three is from the landing side. Somehow I thought you wanted us to layer from the take off side sending to 4 and 5. Also, I’m not sure about the threadle comment for jump 5. Is it a threadle, brake arm or false turn? And, is that if you are layering 3?

I still struggle with lines I should run. Sprite thinks so too!

Well neither of these went as expected. It’s warming up so I thought I’d do the ones with just jumps. Easy, right? The hazards of park training are the lawn people randomly show up. They were there when I arrived and stayed about 15-20 min while the temp increased. Then, Sprite stepped on the water bucket and dumped it.

Sequence one I couldn’t layer the jump with Sprite. It looked like serp position. Gemma got it.

Sequence two I kept getting unexpected turns with Sprite. Gemma was 2 for 2. It looks like decel might be causing her to turn away. Or, I’m just not clear. I cheated and did more than two as we had lots of issues and bars.

Ah..this was right after I tore my calf muscle. That’s likely why I didn’t purchase it. Will you run it again? Or available for purchase as independent study?
