<And I will try to talk you into directionals for the exits rather than just name or silence 🙂 Tunnel exits have gotten complicated, so the directionals really help.>
Oh, I will be teaching her at least some of the directionals for the exit – left, right, check and dig but haven’t done any of that yet (I haven’t done that tunnel exit game yet as the basement doesn’t have the room for it) but for a straight exit is a ‘go’ really necessary all the time? Or jsut for certain situations. Eg, I only say something like a ‘go’ on jumps when I am trying to send Rayven a longer distance over the jump or down a line of jumps (actually that is more likely my ‘jump’ command), not if we are just running a basic line. Not sure why would a straight tunnel exit be any different?
<Looking at it to figure ou why she didn’t want to break, I think it was probably because you were looking directly at her while facing forward for the countermotion, so she was likely thinking she should not go behind you.>
Oh, yes likely! You have talked about that in the past.
<I am not too concerned about the other movement – it is jump-like enough and definitely not trotting, so it is working! >
Was thinking all three jumps, but ok will stick wither the jump bumps for now. When do you think we should start introducing actual bars? She turned 9 months this week but she is still figuring out her coordination when she is moving faster.
So, we did a ‘thing’ today. 🙂
Week 8 – Backside proofing – Baby – DOL
YEAH! we did this outside! it’s still wet and somewhat muddy but I picked a spot that wasn’t too bad.
This is her first time doing anything formal outside, last fall it was all just playing things like restrained recalls. I probably should’ve picked something a bit simpler but I did want something that allowed me to hold her collar rather then the grids that have to rely on her wait in a sit. She was VERY distracted by the birds, the trucks in the Hydro yard, the grass smells, and likely the rabbit ‘leavings’ so it took some work but for a first time she did pretty darn well. I need work! trying to keep her attention and also getting exectuion right is not easy. And the larger space means walking doesn’t cut it anymore.
Next time going to use my leash to help me keep my line better. Also, most of the errors were when I wasn’t turned back to her enough or I straightened up before she was committed to the backside.
Thanks

<And even in a small space, your energy was great! Both of my young dogs just came running over to watch the video, for real!>
LOL!
<<Yes, you can be sooner with the wrap verbals – as soon as you see her nose appear from the tunnel exit, start it. My guess is that your timing will be better when you can take this outside, because you will have more room to get her name and then the verbal out (she will have more room too, more speed, which makes it harder for her to respond correctly because SPEEEEEED is so fun 🙂 >>
I didn’t want to drop her name as I still try to do the name call when I want a tighter turn out of the tunnel and the straight exit with no verbal from me. This should sort once we get outside as you say.
<<The only other thing to add to this is 2 tunnels in a row: tunnel, tunnel, then wrap. That way she is not learning the pattern of tunnel-wrap, she is listening for cues. Plus, tunnel-tunnel makes it a little harder to gather the collection for the wrap!>>
Ah, I was wondering about what to do different to not have too much patterning happening. Will try that next time.
I looked to see if I could find Jordan’s running contact stuff. it doesn’t seem to be on the CR website anymore and I couldn’t find anything on her website. Brigitte suggested Justine Davenport and Kirsten o’neill’s but neither of them have any courses up right now or even enough to evaluate if I would want to do one or the other.
It has always struck me that running contacts are harder on the dogs from a training perspective but that hard stop ot the bottom of the AF for the 2o2o also concerns me just from wear and tear over time. Any chance you are going to do something contact wise for a course?? I def want to teach a Running AF (and likely also the 2o2o AF), the RDW is debatable.
I have started shaping Beka into a 2o2o position on the travel plank. My debates have been a target (like you use it no need to nose touch it) and with shaping the 2o2o is it going to be harder to get her to simply stand on the travel plank for things like conditioning exercises that use the travel plank.
Did a couple of the Week 8 games today:
Week 8 – Backside Challenges
I had the same question here as I was wondering about for the wrap verbal proofing – what is the balance on this? yes, front of the jump (and likely to the tunnel) but is it a threadle to pull them off the backside line since they can see it, and if so which threadle would it be? it’s not a real thredle since they aren’t crossing the plane of the jump to get there. A verbal like their name to do do same? Post turn after the wing jump?
Started Beka with a couple of backside only reps to refresh her memory on the verbal. One mistake coming in early on, but everything else was good. Took as couple of reps for me to decide on using my left verbal for the wing. She quite likes the backside work – LOL!
I did the exit wrok also which was interesting, I did the walking around and a couple of times I rewarded the sit, then she got into not releasing on the ok. Not positive why, tried a bit of waiting her out (alhtough nit every long). did more reps then I intended as I wanted to try and figure out was going on. thought it might be my voice on the release but not positive. Toy lost some value probably because of the treats used for the stay reward which isn’t unusual for her – seems she likes treats a lot more than she let on as a puppy.
Week 8 – Accordian Grid
Beka’s set up is 4′ spacing so her extended distances wre about 7′ and 10′. I used a stationary toy for this. At 7′ she had no clue what to do with the extended space and basically ran through it but straddled bar 3 with her front feet. Second rep she did a decent 1 stride. Third rep made me laugh as she decided her second attempt at 7′ would be a long bounce.
Wonderring if I should considerr switching to a jump bar at 6″ or stick with the bumps? Bump isn’t quite 4″ high and seems to be promoting a running approach to things versus a jumping approach.
Thoughts?
Thanks

>>What if on the dog landing from the jump they need to turn to their right and go back across the plane of the jump? Is that a different verbal or maybe an additional one added to the first?>>
<<If it is the exit wing (opposite of the entry wing) then I use my slice cues: back for push slices, close for threadle slices.>>
Exit wing is what I was thinking. So you don’t think there would be a need for either a different, or an additional verbal, to tell the dog after landing to do a sharp right turn (in this example) and go back across the plane of the jump versus not doing that (ie just a basic backside slice)? (I add my turn command to say turn away from me after taking the jump and go back across the plane on the exit side but it is one I am wondering about)
would you be relying on the direction of your motion to add that additional information to tell the dog whether to go back across the plane of the jump on the exit wing versus not on landing?
Week 1 – Wrap Verbal Proofing Advanced
Going to admit that when you said Beka was ready for the Advanced version of this on I was skeptical, especially on the side requiring the wrap to the right (dig for us). She really surprised me, not even one error on either direction. I warmed up each side with just a single wrap. Watching the video i notice I am late with every command other than ‘tunnel’. Guess I am used to saying tunnel from a fair distance and so have more time to switch to the name for the turn out of the tunnel and then the next command.
Have a couple of contacts questions for you if you don’t mind.
For teaching running whose method do you you follow?
How would you teach a 2o2o these days? the nose touch method or something else? I don’t think I want to do nose touch, I want to get a more neutral back position relative to the ground than I have gotten with the nose touch given part of the focus with it is front feet really close to the end of the board.
Thanks

<Do you mean a verbal for a backside push where the dog is on my left and slices to her right, and a separate backside push where the dog is on my right and slices to her left?>
No, not entering from the different sides of the jump. Entering from same side of the jump, say the right side, but in one instance dog is on your right side (so a regular backside push), in the other instance dog is on you left (between you and the jump) and you still want the backside from the right ( so a threadle).
I tried ‘drawing’ an example but the forum editor drops spaces on posting so it doesn’t work and ca’t post a picture of a drawing either…
Would this be the same verbal for both options? What if on the dog landing from the jump they need to turn to their right and go back across the plane of the jump? Is that a different verbal or maybe an additional one added to the first?
Wondering same if instead of exit to left wanted the 360deg wrap exit or exit back to the direction you came from, cause sometimes I am just not able to get on the ideal side with my crazy fast dogs (crazy fast compared to me at least).
Trying to figure out if I have the right verbals for all the options on one jump and don’t make up too many. I think I might have more than I need for some of this but oddly also might be missing some that I maybe should have.
Hope that all makes some sort of sense.
<start the verbal before you let go of her, saying it 3 or 4 or 5 times and THEN let go of her collar.>
EEK! I totally forgot about that. Will try that next session with her on this.
Thanks

<One little detail: think you are stepping your leg back too soon which might be making it a little harder: remember the 3 inch rule – hold your lap turn arm out and keep your feet together and stationary until she has come to 3 inches form your hand then you can step back – when the leg moves too soon, she doesn’t drive in as hard and gets a little sticky on the left turns.>
Ok, will adjust, one of those things I don’t have to do with Rayven and didn’t have to with Ziva once they understood the idea.
<Yes, I do have different verbals 🙂 I have 4 backside verbals – 2 for pushing to the back, (when I am coming from the landing side) and 2 from the threadles, when I am on takeoff side.>
So no differentiation based on the side of you the dog is on?
<UGH! The winter that never ends,>
At least we are back to about 50% of the backyard snow free (had been at 90% but not dry enough) and it is starting to look like we will mostly get it as rain rather than snow.
<I have to double check when I get home tomorrow, but I believe it is late May – I hav the date posted somewhere, just need to find it >
Would be great if it is late May, then I should be able to work on a number of the things that I can’t in the basement.
tonight I revisted some week 1 work – the wrap verbals. First session on the wrap to the right with the same issues as the wrap to the left back then. Also our second session with the wrap to the left and that is getting better, was able to move the wing about 3ish feet from the tunnel and not do as much of a FC to get the wrap, last couple I basically just stood there. Pretty much alternated wrap vs tunnel also.
wrap to right –
wrap to left –

<if she changes her lead towards the jump you can reward her even if she doesn’t quite get all the way to the jump. >
Can try but this is something I have never been good at picking up on, I am usually paying attention to their head for where they are looking.
<Delay the tug it cue for longer>
I noticed that watching the video, will see about waiting a bit longer.
Week 6 – Turn Away
Did a couple of sessions today on these, lap turns and then tandem turns. Mostly used treats initially and moved to a tug at the end of the tandem turn session (did a couple of lap turns at that point that I added to the lap turn video). Overall, I think she did pretty good, it did feel like she/I are a little weaker on the left turns.
Lap Turns –
I am a bit out of practise with timing and arm motion on these. I made a couple of the longer ones playing with the wraps and lap turns harder then I intended.
Tandem Turns –
Out of practise on these too 🙂 I am going to plan on doing them with my outside hand rather then either the inside or both and see how that goes.
Question – Since you mentioned in the video the likely verbal for these would be the threadle command (I think), do you use different verbals depending on the exit line? eg/ 360deg circle vs serp exit (think german type turn) vs simple turn back towards where they came from.
And of course we are possibly getting another Colorado low coming through in the next few days, so depending on the temps will either be snow or rain.
Wanted to check on how long we will have to post videos for the course? I know the last online session is the 29th (unfortunately I am working that evening but I may have it on while I work – sigh). I am still hoping I can try a few of the games outside before the end. Last year I was doing USDAA@home courses late March/early April and although we did get snow after that it didn’t hang around long. What we have now seems like it is going to be around for a while, even longer depending on how the Colorado low pans out.
Thanks

ParticipantHi Tracy
Unfortunately it’s going to be cold for the better part of a week, with tonight and tomorrow night lows being well below freezing. Sucks.
Week 6 – Get Out
Tried this tonight thinking we would have some trouble as we haven’t done any work on this with the prop since whenever we did it last in MaxPupPt1. Frankly I was hugely surprised at how well she did, not perfect and we didn’t get to any running on the outs, but we had a lot less trouble than I suspected we would. I did do a couple of reps just setting her on the line without the wrap wing and doing the out as a reminder.
DOL I was tossing the treat with the out arm and had the toy in the other. That was really awkward for tossing the treat so I switched the treat had and put the toy away for the ‘out’ reps. I also relized I didn’t move the phone doing the DOR side so I moved it and did a couple more reps in case the video was hard to view, it wsn’t to bad but I included the extra anyways.
I noticed my arm was too high a number of times, especially on a couple of the outs that she missed, so I need to work on that. She was also looking for treats a couple of times.
Thanks

ParticipantHi
We haven’t gotten as much snow, so far at least, as they were predicting but it’s probably going to be at least a week before I can get outside as it’s going to be cold for a few days once it finally stops.
I watched the slice grid video frame by frame and what she did was move to her right and took a normal stride with her back legs so her right rear ended up on the jump bump and it slipped on that. She may have adjusted how she left after that to accommodate things for sure, she also didn’t move to the right on any of the reps after that. Will put a food bowl out next time too.
On the zigzag will try to keep the arms lower – it was hard to see her through things so I might have been trying to make sure she could see my arm here are there.
Thanks

<For example, she had an error at :24 when the arm and release came at the same time – doing the arm cue and then the release will help her in the face of the tempting tunnel>
<On your threadles – do you plan to turn your feet as part of he cue? If so, carry on 🙂 although I will try to talk you out of foot rotation on threadles. If not – be super careful with the foot work here, try to keep your lower body on the threadles identical to your lower body on the tunnel and serp reps: toes facing straight to the tunnel>
Whoops. Didn’t realize I did either of those things – will fix that next time.
Week 4 – Ladder Grid – Slice
We did the slice grid today. Don’t know what I was thinking putting the camera behind her, I tape grid work from the side, so I moved after the first two. Spacing a bit under 4′. Set her up best as possible in the center so she had the consistent distance. Second rep she shifted to the right on jumping and messed up the third jump so a big miststep there, but she seemed to correct herself after that. I will put her a bit closer to the first jump next time, she consistently had trouble with the reach into the first space.
Week 6 – Zig Zag Part 2
I thought she did this better overall. I had trouble figuring out the last serp and where I wanted to be to a) help her on the ones that start with the push out and b) where to put the reward on the last one since I wasn’t in a great position for that one most of the time.
thanks

<Question: are check and dig your wrap cues or your soft turn cues? In this case, a soft turn cue would be appropriate because the wing to serp is a left or right turn, no a wrap (picture the having a bar on the wing and that will give you a clearer visual of what verbal fits best)> If check and dig are your soft turn verbals… then carry on >
They are the wrap cues. The left/right cues just feels wrong here because she is doing a lot more than a basic soft/90deg turn overall. It seems to me once it is more a serp line than the left/right would make more sense.
Do you decide on whether it is a wrap cue vs left/right verbal based on the turn they make after taking the jump regardless of their approach to the jump? Some approach angles tend to make me wonder which verbal is correct to use because sometimes the aproach angle is so acute it seems like it should be a wrap verbal even if the exit doesn’t have them crossing the plane of the jump.
<it is a good start to teach her the shape of te grid with the MM, but for the next session, change it out for a toy. Use a nice big toy that she can scoop up while continuing to run through (like a big hollee roller) so she can keep moving. If that goes well, we will move to a dragging toy >
I debated MM vs toy vs food bowl – will use the toy next time.
<my only suggestion is to use your GO verbals>
OK, go verbals get added.
<So to set it up better, stay at the wing til she is fully done with the wrap – you will be close enough to touch it and she will be almost at your leg – then you can start the RC line a lot sooner, so she wll see it and respond sooner.>
Will try this next but going to admit I am not sure about waiting longer to leave the wing to get on the RC line given I felt late at least partly because I was so far behind her already when I was doing the RC in this session. Waiting longer to leave sounds to me like I’ll be even farther behind her and have less opportunity to put pressure on her to get the RC.
<Also, the left turns happened after about 350 rewards to the right LOL, which did not help your cause LOL!! So maybe separate out left and right turns into separate sessions and then when you bring them back together, switch sides a lot more frequently so she does not get locked into one placement of reinforcement.>
Yeah, that probably is a fair bit of it. Will do RC to the left next session on their own. There isn’t a lot of room for her to turn to the left either. I think I will also see if I can adjust the set up a bit and give her more room for the turn.
Week 4 – Serp/Threadle Proofing
Did Serp proofing this morning and then the threadle this evening
Serp session –
Serp went really well I thought.
Threadle session –
Threadle had a little trouble with the starting position along the plane of the wing, she struggled with doing the serp from there. I moved her a bit to the serp side of the wing and it went better for the serps and still worked for the threadles. Part way through the session a treat fell on the floor between tries and she got distracted for a bit. I could also tell we haven’t done threadles for a bit as she wasn’t always sure about the turn away to the tunnel. I also caught a time she broke her sit while doing it and did a sit reward but it seems I missed a couple when I looked at the video, so will up the reward rate for holding her sit again.
Thanks

Zig Zag for Slicing –
<So you can step to the push line (and use your arm) and THEN release – the physical cue can be in position for a second or two before the release, and you can also do the physical cue but rather than release, you can toss a reward back for the stay so she doesn’t pair any motion into the release or start to anticipate.>
Haven’t gotten back to this one but will try it as you suggest. It feels wrong but it definitely seemed to help. Like the suggestion for reinforcing the wait.
Left/Right Proofing:
<since she can turn away from the harder positions, work pn sending her the other direction as well, from the same position! For example, on the last rep, she did a left turn away from you (from you left side). While still on your left from that same spot, you can add in the right turn cue so she will go to the other side and turn towards you.>
OK, so start mixing it up from the more neutral position a bit, do right and left from the same setup. I haven’t done the set up where we are in a totally neutral position and she is between my legs yet though. Should we try that first??
Send and Serp:
Redid this with the barrel replaced by a wing. She did much better this time overall. I realized I need to do the FC’s to pull her between the wing and the jump so will will try that next and probably start on the Advanced a bit too.
Week 4 – Ladder Grid
Did this one today also, set up with about 4′ between each jump. She seemed to do quite well.
Week 4 – Wind in the Hair – Rear Crosses
EEK! need some help here. Turning right my line is all wrong (the last couple are better), the toy toss is late, despite that she is somewhat getting the turns. Even worse on the turn left, my line seems a bit better, but I am so late getting the throw done that she isn’t really getting any kind of turn started. I’ve got pretty close to 20′ from the wing to the jump. sorry for crappy video, I underestimated how much space was needed after the jump.
I am hoping we can do a little bit outside this week, before we get the 6-12″ (worst case 2+ feet) of snow we are supposed to be getting mid-week from a stupid Colorado low (they can keep their low!) Beka’s sister is in Colorado but seems like they haven’t had much snow where she is – NOT FAIR! LOL!
Thanks

Haven’t had much chance to do videoing. Need the yard for some of the games so some of them I will have to wait until after the course since still way too much snow. Plus started a part time job and still figuring out fitting things in with that given Beka’s and Rayven’s stuff.
Zig Zag For Slicing:
Did this during the live session – haven’t had a chance to get back and try it again.
Left/Right Verbal Proofing:
Remembered I had a third jump bump so switched to those from the pool noodles. This was our second time doing this game. First time (during the live session) I had to help her with my dog side hand to get the turn away, this time I didn’t need to do that. Seeing this video my positioning wasn’t great on the right verbal but overall she did well.
Send And Serp:
Here is our third session of the Send and Serp – she still has trouble figuring out the wrap and then taking the jump so I still warmup with just the serp before adding in the wrap.
Thanks

<<She looks around when you lead out, so mix in more “catches” randomly, throwing the reward back at difference points – it will make things exciting and shape her to watch you – the reward could come at any time, so she won’t take her eyes off of you 🙂 I am not worried about her looking around, and I don’t think she is stressed – I just think she doesn’t believe anything will be happening for a while so loses focus for a bit.>>
LOL! She gets a tossed reward almost every rep, so toss-rep-toss-rep and so on most of the time, I just cut them out of the video to shorten it up. She regularly looks on the floor for treats regardless of what we are doing.
<<I totally agree – the more I watch dogs do jump work with a TnT or dead toy, the more I think it drains the dogs of all power because it is more about slowing down than powering through. The dead toy is better than the TnT for her, and the moving toy is best!>>
Funny, she is the first dog I have had that is like this, for everyone else this food is everything. Rayven drools over her kibble and even though she is pretty sound sensitive the TnT is amazing to her.
<<Since the set point is going so well, this is something to re-visit maybe once a week? >>
Agree, I figured maybe once a week for a while. The other thing I liked here was minimal vulturing on her part. She doesn’t have the best sit all the time yet but we are working on that.
<<Now, going back to the the lazy game, add in 2 elements:
– Start very very close to the wing so as you walk forward, so drives ahead of you. You might have to hang out at the wing to let her finish wrapping it before you start walking forward.
– And do the opposite as well – start as far from the start wing as possible so you can send her way away to it, and you are past the jump when she exits it, so she has to find the jump from behind you (and not just chase you past it).>>Ahh, ok, I was pretty close to the wrap wing but give her a really good chance to drive away to the jump, and I missed that we were to do it from far away also. I redid a bit ago and here is what we got.
Week 1 – Wind in Hair – Baby Lazy Redo
DOR went fine overall, I will need to get into the motion part to get any distance past the jump before she gets there. DOL was more interesting, she struggled when we added distance to the wrap wing, so I shortened up. While doing it I was wondering if the toy in the hand I was holding her with was an issue. Watching it after I noticed that I wasn’t stepping forward with my right foot, it was already forward, so thinking that might have been a bit of an issue from farther back for her.
<<You can throw sooner or even leave the toy placed out there – I suggest placing it NOT because she needs the help finding the jump, but because as the distance gets bigger, it is harder and harder to throw on time and keep her head from coming up.>>
Doesn’t help that the toy has a lot of built in drag, but I wanted to use something with a handle to make sure I could grab something if needed. Probably trying the milker next time. Definitely curious as to how she handles the toy placed on the ground. That was so hard for Rayven.
BTW, I was just going to work on the first game from the zoom call thinking it was the ‘smiley face games’ game that is posted for Week 1 and when I looked at the video it isn’t for the game that you did on the call. I got onto the zoom call after the video was played on the call and in rewatching that part I see the video was about proofing wrap verbals.
Am I missing something or is the proofing wrap verbals game missing from Week 1?
I tried it out based on the Zoom recording. Beka started out fine but as soon as we did the tunnel by going around the wing she lost it (LOL!). Moved the wing a ways out, still had some trouble so I dropped the tug early and she started to get it after that. Moved the wing a bit closer and she was still ok wrapping, but when I tried it in the original spot again the tunnel was too tempting.
I’ll play with this with the wing about 5-6′ away for a while before trying it closer.
Only did the one direction as this session when longer than I wanted. Will swap sides tomorrow to see if that side works better for her but will still have the wing farther away to start.
Thanks

<<Moving target game also looked great! Nice stay!!! It was a nice big hollee roller… and she grabs the handle LOL! Is there something you can put in the HR that she might like, such as a tennis ball? I have a frisbee and some fur in mine. She was lower on the handle with it was really moving towards the end of the session, though, so it might ultimately not matter (and looks like she might have grabbed it on the last rep?) We just wan to be sure she is looking down and not up or sideways to grab the handle 🙂>>
Umm, border collie! I have yet to have one that isn’t more interested in the handle on long tugs over the end of it at least some of the time, and they usually like to work their way up to the handle regrabbing. LOL! Beka was really doing that on the set point work today and you’ll see it on the first video below. Even when I hold the toy so the hollee roller is at her mouth level she goes for the handle. I’ll try putting something in it but not really expecting that to make much of a difference.
<<Yes, some dogs did well organizing themselves but one thing that I saw with those was that it was too sterile… and they had a whole lot of trouble maintaining that organization when the handler and/or toy started to move – for those dogs, that is where I would see rushing or changes in form. So this will help them handle the added distractions by installing them pretty early on while maintaining good form.>>
Yes, that is where I could see moving the target helping them to work through dealing with some arousal from the motion of the toy and holding their form.
Pre-Work – Moving Target Advanced:
Here’s with the jump wings and a 4″ jump bump added. You’ll see where she is grabbing the toy on this one.
Week 1 – Set Point – Baby and Advanced
I did use the TnT getting started here just to see how tht worked, then switched to the toy. Funny thing – the first time I used the toy the TnT was still sitting in place – she TOTALLY ignored the toy and headed right for the TnT – LOL! Me thinks food/treats mean more to her than it appears – LOL!
With the TnT she isn’t driving – not surprising given what I see with the RC foundation work. The toy definitely ups the drive quite a bit and she holds things together. No patting before the jump bump, is bouncing the space, front legs spread but rear pretty much together. Not unexpected with the front leg given she is really just running through the space.
She is right around 19″ tall right now, and has been pretty stable for about a month. Spacing on the Advanced set up was about 3.5′. I liked the way that worked for her with the jump bumps but need to play a bit with where she sits. Of course, it won’t be enough when we get to the point of adding height when it makes sense.
Added in today’s (March 11) work as I didn’t see that you were out until after I posted this originally.
Week 1 – Wind in the Hair – Baby
I worked this over three sessions today – first was ‘lazy’, then ‘motion’ and finally ‘distance’. combined the lazy and motion into the same video as I had it in my head that distance was the Advanced.
Lazy and Motion – switches to motion at about 1:10.
Distance – started at the 8-10′ foot range and ended up at around 16′.
Will do the ‘real’ advanced tomorrow.
Thanks
Lori

ParticipantHi Tracy
Ha! No early spring this year! Last year today we would have been able to be outside, not happening, actually getting more snow right now.
I’d love to post a photo of my backyard but the forum doesn’t seem to allow for that in a post??
Pre-work – Verbals Review
Did this a couple of days ago. DOL she had a little trouble after I moved the wing out a bit more but figured it out. DOR she grazed the jump on one turn, I initially thought I either said tug it too early or moved too early but not so sure after watching it, she didn’t have issues with me moving early on a later one.
Pre-Work – Moving Target – Baby
I did a quick session of the Moving Target game after the live session tonight. Beka did great with holding her sit – I did reward the sit every other rep.
Gonna say that I have never had any of my BC’s that have done jump grid work have the issues you mention in the video. They all jumped beautifully on their set point work, focused on the target, head down, rounded back and powered through with their rear ends. That being said, I like this game for proofing the stay and cuirous about it’s use with contacts.
Thanks
Lori
