That is so fun! I just couldn’t be happier with her. I cant wait to unleash her skills in a bigger space.

    Marker Cues (when used correctly):
Shhhhew = chase toy or food (used reliably outdoors and questionably indoors)
Get it = bite toy in hand (often used for ALL of the other markers at some point 🤦‍♀️)
    Pounce = get ‘dead’ toy
Catch = catch toy or food
Find it = reward (usually food) is lost somewhere on the ground, keep looking
Scatter = find many treats on ground
Goooood = stay put, food coming to you
Yes = …I have no idea any more, but I think it’s become: come to me to get food 🤷‍♀️

Your previous question about stays: ‘needle’ is adorable! It’s actually ‘middle’ as per Absolute Dogs, but pronounced meeeeeedle. She learned to charge in through the front and flip around and it was messing up our leg weaves, so we’re slowly retraining it.

As for the release on the hand cue, I do that on reward markers too. I need to work on that. I think a Podcaster gets their clients to say “banana” in their head before releasing for start lines; I’ll have to try that again. Do you have any high tempo (Broadway) songs I can sing to get a beat going?!

If I recall correctly, I struggled on this with River, too.

Can you come to the States, maybe Buffalo or Rochester or Syracuse?

Thank you for your concern. I would love recommendations in those cities. I think there is one more person in Ontario, but I think there’s a waiting list there too – I figured we’d be in by now, so we got full x-rays in the summer and have been waiting. The closest person is excellent, but only works 1 day a week, hence the wait list. I would appreciate your recommendations.

    Hi Tracy,
I hope you can help me:
I trained River’s weaves meticulously through AgilityU, but I am having serious weave problems (5 year old Aussie). She used to nail entries and stay in the poles, but it’s a mess now. She is on a waiting list for a rehab vet just in case it’s physical, but I have no evidence other than her weaving and occasional slipping when turning. We called in July and are still waiting.

If it’s not physical, do you have anyone you could recommend who could help solve this issue and could work virtually, 1:1? She often runs into the 3rd pole, even when she is going slowly. She has always been very upright, but her head is now super high, and she gets lower as she goes. I worked with a trainer last summer using lots of angled entries on 2x2s and she was nailing it and entering lower, and I thought we solved it, but it’s right back to where it was. She is starting to bark and looks like she has no idea what to do at the poles. Even when she gets the entry, she usually gets hung up on pole 2 or 3 and has to fight to stay in them. If you can help, or know someone who loves solving weave dilemmas, I’d appreciate the help. She wouldn’t even attempt them at the UKI Canadian Open.

    Thanks,
    Jen
